1.What first inspired you to pursue this profession? Was it the kitchen set my mom bought me when I was four or was it the incredible smells coming from our kitchen that always brought family and friends together? What I do know is that cooking always held a sense of fascination and intrigue for me. From a young age, I remember having an obsession with the creation of a restaurant. I can recall drafting menu after menu.
I’ve strived mightily for a lot of things in my life, such as a spot on a varsity team, Valedictorian, or a UIL district championship, but recently I've never have worked mentally as hard as I've had to this year in my pursuit of scholarships. My goal right now is to earn enough scholarships so that I don't have to pay a dime for my post secondary education (this includes my Bachelor's and Master’s degrees and perhaps even a Doctorate). Now I understand that you may be reading this and feel that getting a few scholarships here and there isn't really the big life changing movement that you might have been looking forward to reading about today, but I need you to understand that I'm the type of person that thinks big picture and long term. For most of my peers, having a
I am proud of something, and I have discovered without it I do not know what it is I would be doing in the future as my career/job. If not photojournalism than just photography where I would take portraits of others, but my eyes are set to focus on conflicts and human rights issues and also the roles of women in traditional societies. I would firstly like to recognize God´s sovereignty in my life and that without His mercy towards me I wouldn’t be anything. Since I was born, my parents’ main concern was to teach me how to live the Christian lifestyle and obtain qualities like honesty, responsibility, and perseverance. I learned to be independent from a very young age since my parents couldn’t always help me with my homework or school related chores; but that shaped me to become what I am now, an organized and determined teenager. I discovered I loved writing poetry and short stories since I was a little girl. I had a big imagination and a thirst for knowledge that has stayed with me ever since.
As a legacy-minded individual, and a leader in both University of Delaware (UD) student organizations and in my own community, I have displayed resiliency, eclecticism, and the capacity for collaboration. Through application of these qualities, I have developed my critical thought processes and problem solving strategies. I would be honored to continue on the path of academic success and the development of effective leadership with these skills in hand during the Board of Education (BOE) Summer Fellowship Program.
