I plan to pursue a career in nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. This career take many steps to complete. But it is different routes you can take and different programs you can enroll in for this profession. Family Nurse Practitioners can prescribe medication and diagnose patients and give treatment. They can work either in hospitals and or clinics as a primary healthcare provider. They can also order specific x-rays and test that need to be done for a patient. The nurse practitioners interact with less patients in a clinic than in a hospital. Np’s have privileges to prescribe medications in every state.
In an influential event in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, a young servant, Justine, of the Frankenstein family is on trial for the death of the youngest son, William Frankenstein. She claims to not have murdered this young boy, for she cares for him greatly as if he is her own on the account of the cousin of the Frankenstein’s, Elizabeth. The Frankenstein family is attending Justine’s trial and Victor Frankenstein believes that Justine is innocent. Also, that it is the monster that he is creating who kills his youngest brother. Victor recounts as Justine enters the court room, “For all the kindness which her beauty might otherwise excited was obliterated in the minds of the spectators by the imagination of the enormity she was supposed to have committed” (54). Even though Justine is not guilty of this crime, the jury’s “imagination” is getting the better of them, instead of staying objective and looking at the facts and noticing Justine’s innocence. It can be seen in Justine’s appearance that she embodies innocence when it states “the kindness which her beauty might otherwise excited”, and before this trial it is seen by others as well. The jury is not using their “minds” to observe the evidence, which is the picture of the mother of the Frankenstein family, that is on Justine when is belongs to William. When Justine is giving her defense she states, “I rest my innocence on the plain and simple explanation of the facts which have been adduced against me” (55). Justine understands that her “innocence” will be known though “the plain and simple facts” that is not to be diluted by the “imagination”. Justine then realizes that the “simple facts” or the truth of her innocence will not overcome the jury’s already overactive “imagination” ...
Growing up parents always ask their young kids what they want to be when they grow up; typically, from preschoolers you hear a variety of answers like “a superhero”, or “an astronaut”, and when one asks preteens you hear lots of “I want to be a doctor”. When I was asked this question in middle school I always answered “I want to be a nurse”. Throughout high school you are required to take a variety of classes in different subjects to widen your horizon on what interests you. From my experiences in these variety of class I learned a lot about myself and what I really liked, but one thing never changed and that was my dream profession of becoming a nurse. I credit my aunt, Shelly, who was a nursing professor at Medcenter One College of Nursing in Bismarck, ND for sparking my interest
Nursing came in a round-about way for me. I had little direction when I graduated high school and had already disregarded the nursing field due to an incident with a family member (who was a nurse) that had left a negative impression about the nursing field on me. I entered college planning on a pre-med or biology major. I had built up a vision of college being different- scholarly, intellectual, advanced- different somehow than school before. I soon was disillusioned. My first biology course was a bitter disappointment and I turned away from any thoughts of a medical/health related career altogether.
I am currently planning to attend Richland Community college and graduate as a registered nurse. The reason I chose this career is because helping out others has always driven me forward. I want to study something that I know I will be content doing for the rest of my life and registered nursing is the right choice. Being a nurse has a many perquisites, but my choice has nothing to do with the advantages that it will provide me with. It is more about the fact that I have the chance to make people who are ill feel better and also to hel...
A career in the medical field is always evolving, and always needing more hands. I knew from a young age that helping people is what I was meant to do, and from then on out every step I took was the way to a successful career in nursing. It is a profession that allows you to see people at their worst, all while helping them become their best. The most important task for nursing students is to create a clear pathway for our education, and to be sure to follow that plan accordingly. When choosing this career, I had to access my own strengths and weaknesses and really establish clear goals for myself and evaluate if I had what it takes to be a part of this diverse and skilled profession. I also decided not only not only do I need to set professional goals for this career, personal goals are important as well.
1. As I grew up, I never really knew what career path I wanted to take. The thought that scared me was that whatever I did decide to choose, it was going to be what I would do for the rest of my life. When my freshman year in college came around, I majored in nursing. However, I never was fully certain that nursing was something that I truly wanted to pursue. I felt like the only reason I chose nursing to begin with was because my mother is a nurse. I thought about it for a while and realized that I shouldn’t choose nursing as my major just because my mother is a nurse, instead, I needed to choose a major because I have a real compassion and desire for it.
Why I want to be a nurse? I have asked myself this question numerous times, and have come up with a variety of answers. I think that being a nurse just embodies the characteristics that I have innately had and characterizes the person I am now. Nursing is more than a profession to me; it encompasses my life in every aspect. Nursing challenges me, nothing is ever exactly the same each day. There are so many opportunities in nursing and so many ways to challenge myself and learn new things.
Nurses play the main role in the emotional state of the patient. They have the opportunity to change people’s lives and connect with a patient on a compassionate level. They show the patient emotional support by listening, understanding, and caring for the patient. Nursing careers entail more hands on dependence compared to that of other careers. Ultimately, nursing is a job for a compassionate, caring, empathetic, and a person who has great communication skills. The nursing field is truly rewarding because of the help you give the
The field of nursing is one that is well known to many individuals today. I learned about this field when I was young, but did not decide I want to major in this field until recently. When I was young I had the dream of becoming a professional dancer. When I grew older, and gathered my senses, I realized that becoming a professional dancer is unrealistic. After determining this, I pondered a variety of different fields of study. I had many lengthy conversations with my
Nursing is a promising career that offers many rewards to caring individuals. It is more than just a job that one attends day to day. Nursing is a career that kind people get in to because they are passionate about life and everything is has to offer. They care for people they have never met before in such a way that makes the patient feel comfortable and able to relax. In a way that makes it possible for the patient to recover from whatever they have encountered. If I am going to spend valuable time and money on education, I want to a job that I absolutely love. I want to have the satisfaction of knowing that my job is safe even when times are rough. Interviewing Jennifer H, a Registered Nurse at a local Banner facility really helped me get insight on what the position has to offer. I have encountered many people who are not passionate about their job and just show up for a paycheck; choosing a job in the medical field provides people with the same check, but also offers job security, advancement opportunities and numerous benefits for the employee and their famil...
The nursing field for me was not straight forward like it is for many individuals. In fact, I did not know I wanted to be in the nursing field until the Fall semester of my senior year of college. I had mentors who guided me to the field of nursing because I was the type of individual who could perform well at whatever I put my mind to. The more I looked into nursing the more I realized I wanted to be in that field, for the following reasons: 1) I would be working with a variety of populations, 2) I would be helping people in their greatest time of need, 3) I could be with patients for extended periods of time, 4) I would be stimulated intellectually and lastly nursing provides endless possibilities to impact healthcare.
I was never one of those who as a young girl wanted to become a nurse, I knew I always wanted to work in health care administration. I will say my journey to become a nurse started after facing some challenging health and personal experience. I lost my father suddenly to heart disease at age 15. My father was my bedrock who at that time always wanted me to become a nurse, but as a teenager I wanted to do my own thing. Not until I experienced a series of hospitalization. One that stood out for me was when I was in the hospital for two weeks getting exchange transfusions, and I almost died. The nurses were incredible. They were angels at my bedside. They encouraged me, worked me through my treatment plan, and explained every detail to me. The nurses were the parents I did not have at my bedside for 24 hours. After discharge, I started to think about a career in nursing. Not too long after this occurrence, I started taking my prerequisites while I volunteered at Bellevue Hospital. After a long journey, I finally became a registered nurse.
I have learned that nursing is not something you choose once, but something you choose every day. Nursing is a multidimensional career with great opportunities and rewards but is also coupled with difficult intellectual, physical and emotional challenges. My journey to get into and through nursing school has been a fight every step of the way, but there have also been many experiences that have confirmed to me that this is what I was born to do. With every obstacle and challenge that threatened to keep me from my goal, I have persevered and chosen to keep fighting for what I wanted. I have learned so much about myself these last four years, and I have been rewarded with many opportunities and experiences that have deepened my desire and resolve
I have always loved working in fields that are considered “hands on”. I have always loved working with multiple people that come from many different backgrounds. I think having that around me, makes things interesting and helps me stay interested. I thought I had found my career choice for the rest of my life in nursing. However, life happens for people sometimes in a way you never imagined possible. In my situation, I became very ill during the peak of my nursing career. Due to this, working as a nurse was very hard on my body. I was advised by my surgeon and cardiologist that I should think of a career change or take my nursing career off the floor and start working behind a desk in the medical field. Working behind a desk did not appeal to me at all!
