As a young lady, I have been able to develop and procure the benefits of an outstanding education through various situations in my day to day life, both as an intern and as an undergraduate student at Fordham University. Throughout my experiences, I have taken advantage of many learning opportunities. Regardless of any environment, I have the ability to learn and develop as a person. I believe it is my strength to keep going and never give up that has led me to be very well-defined and the changes I undergo every day that passes will lead me to ultimate success. Ever since I was a kid, I have always wanted to accomplish something for myself, my future and change my life forever. Pursuing a graduate education at Brooklyn College will allow me to collaborate with a variety of students, faculty, and professionals from different backgrounds. This will definitely prepare me for a future in Public Accounting, in which there are a variety of professionals from different countries and schools from all over the world. As Brooklyn College prides itself on excellent diversity, I am entirely sure I will enjoy my graduate experience. Moreover, as the world continues to globalize and lean towards digital technology, especially in the Public Accounting industry, I need to better adapt to other people’s perspectives, so that I will be well prepared. I also believe this is a goal that I can accomplish at Brooklyn College with the diversity present at the school. Furthermore, I am attracted to Brooklyn College, not only because of the amazing reputation the school has built over various years but also because of it’s dedication to providing students with a top-notch education and preparing students for success in their field of study. The school’s reputation will add value to my education and will remain with me forever even when I begin my career as a Public Accounting professional with PwC. I have pushed myself to where I am today and will continue to push myself throughout my graduate education so that I can thrive not only as an individual but also as a professional and a role model. Brooklyn College’s Masters in Accounting Program will bring me one step closer to being successful in my life. Through my past internships and my educational experiences at Fordham University, I was able to mature and progress. I perceive that what will lead me to success in my graduate career and in my professional career, is the ambition that drives me, along with the challenges and opportunities that will help me develop for the rest of my
When my first grade teacher asked me what I wanted to be in the future I told her, “I want to be a doctor.” My answer stayed exactly the same when my eleventh grade English teacher asked the question. Ever since I was little science has always captured my interest. I was fascinated by the way our body worked and how everything had an explanation behind it.
Growing up, my parents never expected perfection but expected that I try to accomplish my best. The effort I’ve put forth in learning has been reflected in my grades throughout my high school career. I’ve entered myself in vigorous course work such as AP Government and AP English to become well prepared for my college career, all while maintaining a 4.4 grade point average this year. Not only do I engage in AP classes, but up until this year I had no study halls. I wanted my day to be packed full of interesting classes that I would enjoy learning about. My grades and choice of classes prove the effort that I put forth in my learning. Working hard now can only pay off in the future. Learning now creates a well-rounded human being. Working to learn is why I am so dedicated to my studies now.
I was raised in an encouraging household where both of my parents greatly valued education. Although they were high school graduates, neither could afford to attend college; a combination of family and financial woes ultimately halted their path. As a result, my parents frequently reminded me that getting a good education meant better opportunities for my future. To my parents, that seemed to be the overarching goal: a better life for me than the one they had. My parents wanted me to excel and supported me financially and emotionally of which the former was something their parents were not able to provide. Their desire to facilitate a change in my destiny is one of many essential events that contributed to my world view.
Brooklyn College is considered a “poor man’s Harvard”. It’s neither glamorous nor prestigious, it’s cheap and sustainable. Brooklyn College’s campus has well-kempt gardens, competent technology departments, a gym, a pool, a full-size basketball court– and it’s within walking distance of my neighborhood. Students can work jobs, have a life, and still make time for a college education. It feels like an upscale community college, but I think the community makes Brooklyn College a true New York experience. For students unwilling to move far away, going to Brooklyn College is a sensible use of
Rutgers University has always been my dream school and it would be an honor to get the opportunity to attend. Going to this college will not only guide me to a degree, it will allow me to have experiences that will help me later in life.
Education has played a significant role in both my immediate and long term goals. Without an education I would not be able to reach my long term goal to become an Occupational Therapist. An education has given me the feeling of success and a lifetime of pride. Through my past struggles in college I have learned valuable key aptitudes needed, such as, dedication, attendance, and organization, in becoming a successful student. Through my achievements such as making Dean’s list, Chancellor’s list, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Studies I have learned I am motivated and capable of accomplishing my goals and
My first year of high school I did not take things seriously and I was not focused or organized. Soon after I applied to a program called AVID which was a college preparation program, I was accepted for my sophomore year. This helped me to have a serious attitude when it comes to working and to be well organized. Without this class I would not be as focused and eager to do what I want to in life today. If I had to describe myself in three words these three words would have to be disciplined, determined, and persistent. I am a student who is able to stay focused on a challenge or topic I am given, when I start on that challenge I complete it. I am highly motivated to become successful in life and reach the goals I have set for myself. Although they are big goals I am determined to work hard and learn whatever it takes in order to be successful, Maybe one day I will be the person I see myself as, sitting at a desk with other people coming up with a creation which would one day affect the lives of many
I began to change my life 's mindset through baby steps, looking beyond surface success. Every hour of every day I would focus on doing something that would lead me to an authentic and passionate life, not a life controlled by monetary success. Morrie taught to “Devote yourself to loving others … devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning. You notice … there 's nothing in there about salary (Albom, 127).” I wanted to follow Morrie 's advice and create a life that allowed me to help people, and that made me personally feel like my life had meaning. I changed my major from the medical field, with the intention of making people think I was “smart,” to a major that will allow me to be a preschool teacher and work with children. I won 't make a lot of money, and I won 't be admired by the community, but I know that helping kids is what makes me
As a college student no matter the circumstances that life tossed my direction I still needed to find it in me to survive these challenges. Challenges as far as providing the financial stability for my family, maintaining healthy relationships and a social life even outside of college. Also, acknowledging the fact that I took on the role of being a first-generation student is realizing that I am sacrificing time to attend college. Additionally, Duckworth highlights that “some people sustain effort not because of subjective interest but rather because they are afraid of change… or unaware of alternative options” (1090). She clarifies that grit is maintained by the consistency of interest over time. The pivotal to obtaining higher education is to successfully move through the dynamics of life over time. The mindset that is transferred throughout the journey is what keeps focus on reaching an associates degree, graduating with my class, and finding work out in the real
I am an ambitious young Saudi with a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management from King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia. I seek admission to (name of university) to attend the MBA Accounting program as a means to achieve my goals. There is this saying, “Everything happens for a reason” and I believe certain things do. I believe that everything I have gone through my life has been preparing me for the beginning of a great career. This world can be a scary place, but there is also beauty in this world with lots of opportunities, and people who want to help make a difference. I want to be one of those people who inspire others to do better, to guide them and to teach them to not give up. If it was not for my counselors and mentors I would not be where I am at today. I was able to accomplish one of my goals of being the first in my family to graduate with my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from CSULA. I want to further my education to better myself, and help others along the way.
Moreover, the interdisciplinary curriculums designed for students with non-accounting background suit me fine. As a Chinese student majored in electronic commerce and minored in accounting, I hope to take advantage of my disciplinary perspective, dual language ability, and global vision, to understand how business and accounting interacts.
My first goal is to continue my education by earning a Master’s degree in Accounting right after completing my bachelor’s degree. The MSU’s Accounting program attracts me for both its reputation and its career opportunities available for international students. It is my responsibility as a future accountant to be really familiar and proficient at the tools accountants use regularly. Achieving my master’s degree will also help me achieving my second goal of becoming a CPA by meeting the requirement of curriculum. Thus, I am professionally and academically motivated to earn a Master’s degree of Accounting at the Broad Business College.
In a person’s life, they learn from everything around them, and take in everything that they see, and learn from all of it. Hopefully, they get a good result so that they may be able to make a difference in the world around them. I feel that I have to tools to make the changes that I want, and the knowledge to know how to make these changes. I look toward the future with a bright outlook, and know that to keep learning is the key to making my bright outlook the truth. For my future and the future of people younger and older than me, education will always be the key.
There were many instances in my life that have shaped my values, intellect, and academic or career goals. I was raised by my parents to become a hard worker, independent, and caring young adult. I was taught how to be all these qualities by a combination of experiencing and witnessing them first hand.
