I think of an entrepreneur as someone that has started a business to take advantage of a market opportunity. They are leaders who are courageous, they are willing to take risks and exercise initiative. Entrepreneurs are innovative and often develop disruptive products or ideas.
Am I an entrepreneur? I haven’t started what I’d call a “real” business and therefore I don’t believe that I’m an entrepreneur. I do believe that I have the necessary attributes to be entrepreneurial as I often come up with good ideas and my critical reasoning ability has been identified by others as one of my strengths. I have worked in managerial roles for approximately 18 years and by all accounts, do a good job. The skills required to be a good manager align with those linked to entrepreneurs, the only difference is that I have not taken the leap of starting a “real” business.

However, as I moved into the workforce, I found out that some employers offered university training for employees in certain circumstances. Without really understanding how, I vigorously pursued this route which led me into the dairy industry as this seemed to be the only path available for me to better myself. I worked hard and eventually I was offered the opportunity to study at Massey University, paid for by my employer, Kiwi Dairy Co-operative. On reflection, having my tertiary education paid for by the company could be considered entrepreneurial. It also set me on the path to achieving my goal of using my brains and not my brawn. I was the first employee from my department in six years to have been selected for further education. This was a reward for my good performance, hard work and
An entrepreneur is someone who recognizes an opening in the market for a product or service and carries it out using initiative. Usually being innovators; entrepreneurs are risk takers in means of not knowing whether their ideas will in fact succeed (Business Dictionary, 2016). Fashion leaders are considered entrepreneurs because to be strong in the fashion industry one must attempt to stay ahead of competitors and know what is already out there as would an entrepreneur. One of Australia’s most successful fashion designers could also be considered an entrepreneur; Collette Dinnigan is an award winning fashion designer who has exhibited in London and Paris and was the first Australian to launch a ‘ready-to-wear’ collection, as well as being
I have throughout my career as a high school student made sure to develop certain key qualities that will make me not only a great future leader but always a skilled entrepreneur. I see myself as someone who is determined, hard-working and above all else

Entrepreneur is someone who had an idea then made the idea real and then made some money off of it. Today the world has many entrepreneurs many of whom have made millions of dollars in their one little idea. Who is one of these people with a big idea is Joy Mangano creator of the miracle mop. Joy has made millions and has made some other very important ideas not just miracle mop. Joy even had a movie made about her life which starred Jennifer Lawrence playing Joy.
In the documentary “Call of the Entrepreneur,” three successful entrepreneurs, Brad Morgan, Frank Hanna, and Jimmy Lai, are presented to explain their views on entrepreneurship and in turn leadership. Brad Morgan is the owner of a million dollar dairy and compost company, Frank Hanna is a merchant banker in New York City, and Jimmy Lai is the founder of Giordano department stores and Next Media. A central theme of the documentary is how each of these businessmen displays the characteristics of persistence, patience, and perseverance to overcome frustrating obstacles and become successful. The film defines entrepreneurship and explains how the entrepreneur responds positively to consumer demands and is able to organize and direct others toward a goal only the entrepreneur can see. The film shows that though some entrepreneurs are driven by greed and some are not, the ones that are successful are answering the needs of consumers.
I have always tutored and assisted others in math and science, but about eight years ago while pursuing my master’s degree in Wildlife Biology, I took a couple of classes that changed my life. These classes (natural resource interpretation and environmental education) opened my eyes to the fact that I wanted to become an educator. I loved my education classes and discussed with my major advisor the fact that I wanted to become involved in education. As an extension specialist, my advisor was very involved in education and community outreach and he could help me to further my pursuit of education as a career. He offered me the opportunity to coordinate the Utah WHEP (Wildlife Habitat Evaluation Program), a 4-H wildlife education program. I took the position and conducted the program for three years. During my time as the Utah WHEP coordinator, I worked with youth (aged 11-19), teaching them about wildlife, their habitats, and their management. With this experience, I knew that I had definitely found my calling.
An entrepreneur is someone that starts up their own business. Mark Zuckerburg became an entrepeneur because of his social networking site called Fackbook. It all started in his college dorm in 2004 at Harvard University. He made a website called Facesmash for Harvard students only. This site let you vote on which two students from Harvard were “Hot or Not”. Then he started making “TheFacebook”, which was the name of facebook when it started.Soon he soon changed it to just “Facebook”. A man named Peter Theil was the first to invest in the company for 10.2% of the company. Zuckerburg branched out to more private schools, then next thing you know the site was all over the U.S. They made their money by letting ads be on the site. The companies pay facebook to put ads on the site, then Facebook makes money. The company went public in 2012 to the stocks. This was big. They would make even more money. It was risky, but Zuckerburg did it.
An entrepreneur is someone with the capacity to lead a business to success and is willing to take the risks in order to accomplish their goals. (Dollonger, 2002). Starting a new business is an example of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs are very important in order for any business to succeed, however, only some entrepreneurs will succeed in life. Here are some of the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs.
Business has been a large part of my family, and has started to grow on me. My dad worked in sales for many years, and is now the President of a company in Staples. My mom started her own cleaning business, and now works for herself, as well as my uncle owns a golf course, and a pump and well business. My other uncle has his own handy man business, while one of my aunts operates a redimix and construction company . So I guess it could be said, business is kind of in by blood.
Driven by an intense commitment and determined perseverance, entrepreneurs work very hard at what they do. They excel and want to win. Entrepreneurs are amazing people with a high respect of character. They use their mistakes as something to learn from rather than a failure. No matter the outcome, they believe in themselves and have an extreme confidence not only in themselves, but also in what they do.
Being an entrepreneur, is advanced citizenship, you have to want it real bad. Entrepreneur is not entitlement. Being an entrepreneur is a life commitment. Like in the movie Wall Street, a famous line was "You can 't be a little bit pregnant." The fact is you can 't be an on again, off again entrepreneur.
Many people dream of becoming entrepreneurs someday. But it made me realize that there other factors that needs to be taken into consideration. We need to ask ourselves are we ready to take the challenge to the outside world. Not everyone have the vision, innovation and creativity to become an entrepreneur. The individual must have a positive attitude and accept the responsibility, have discipline to meet their goals, and take action when the opportunity presents itself. Many prefer a job security and rely on a weekly paycheck, while entrepreneurs will take risks and doesn 't have that luxury to know the amount of their income.

Furthermore, entrepreneurs are frequently understood to be individuals who discover market needs and establish new business to meet those identified opportunities. The following assignment will firstly discuss the types of entrepreneurship, secondly it will discuss the reasons people become entrepreneurs, and thirdly it will discuss the importance of entrepreneurship.
We learned a lot of things in this course, but I think the most important lesson I learned is that it’s not easy to be an entrepreneur. I was surprised to hear in the first class that 80% of startups fail, but after reading The Art of Start and E-myth Revisited I understood why this happens more often than one might expects. Some people start their own businesses for the wrong reason and some start with wrong mindset. I’ve always thought that if someone has a brilliant business idea and hardworking they will succeed and grow their business. However, now I know that there are many things to consider before starting any business. In fact, there are many strategies that an entrepreneur could follow to achieve success, such as know your customers, work “on” the business, and how
I am gratified to reflect on my Entrepreneurial Potential Self-Assessment. I have always enjoyed learning the concepts of running and managing a business. Personally, what I enjoy generally is implying these concepts in real life situations. Seeing the ‘real life’ effects are stimulating to me. I always saw myself running a stable/well- establish business; however, I never saw myself running my own business. For my part, I find that I do not have all the characteristics an entrepreneur should have. Therefore, the results are not surprising, but assuring of what my strengths and weaknesses are.
