High school should be shorter. First, there would be more time to spend at home with all their family. Next, There would be more time to go to college and get a better job. After that, There would be more time to live life to the fullest.
There would be more time to spend with all their families. “The school year is way too long, and should be shortened in order to let students actually enjoy their young lives” To begin, If high school was shorter than it would give students more time to enjoy their lives.“How hard would it be to add an extra week on to at least two of the breaks.” Furthermore, Giving an extra break would give more opportunities to students because they would have more time to relax and see their grandparents. “the length causes a great deal of stress on students.”To continue, Shortening the time would let the students spend more time with their loved ones.

“After a minuscule break, students are expected to return to school one grade smarter.” Than, If the students know what they need to know to get a certain degree.“they don’t learn as much as they could have if they had slept all night instead of worrying about finishing that project that's due today.”Including , If kids were able to then they could find their future career better.“This type of collaborative learning can be done in 40 minutes, but it’s hard.”In a like manner, The option to go get a college degree early was out there then there would be less homeless people and a more successful
...on what they have learned by attending more days in school but not getting burned out on a traditional nine month school schedule. A few short breaks allows the mind to rest but not forget everything they have worked hard to achieve educational greatness. American society will achieve great things if the education system takes a step in all schools operating on a year round calendar.
...and ultimately the development of each and every student who needs to be taught how to be productive members of society who do not have to rely on outside influence, but can be independent adults when they graduate.
School is usually a huge part of every child’s daily agenda. Teenagers in high school basically dedicate their entire day to school and homework. Students in grade 8 are similarly going through the same process as high school students. As students work 2 months after the Winter Break, some of them tend to start reducing their quality in their work. When we’re tired of doing school work for two straight months, why should we only receive a short March Break? Can’t the March Break just be one week longer, the same as the Winter Break? Students shouldn’t be limited to the amount of activities they can do during the March Break. Since the March Break is the last Break of the year, students clearly deserve two weeks of March Break rather than one. Furthermore, students should have the need to relax before the next three more months of school.
Throughout time education has been considered a process that every so often must be improved. The education quality in the U.S. has declined over the years and people have been looking for a way to make improvements. A more recent proposal has been to go from a traditional nine-month schedule to an all year program. Supporters of year round school claim it gives the student a better education. However, the prospect of year round school is not beneficial to the taxpayers pocket, to the education a student receives, or to the people involved with the district.
Nowadays, students are being spoon fed information in the classroom instead of actually “learning”. Teachers, who should be inspiring students to be individuals and going out to seek and learn are instead basically giving students the information just to make it easier upon themselves. Although it may be easy now, in the future when the same students that have been fed information have to go out and actually learn and find information, they won’t be able to. Students are too reliant on teachers giving them information so they won’t have to do work. Students in this generation are being complacent in a “short-cut” society and take the easy way out in everything they possibly can.
For years, parents and educators have debated the advantages and disadvantages of the traditional school calendar, which has long summer vacations for all students. The longer you are away from school, the more you lose what you learned in the previous year. Studies have shown that children who know English as a second language benefit the most from year-round education because during the long summer break, they may not hear English for several months. Long summer breaks is a problem for traditional schools and the solution is to substitute traditional schools for year-round schools.
Throughout many years, education has played an important role in improving our minds and society. However, what many people tend to forget is that our education is not at the best it can be. Education is defined as receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university. Many people today questions whether or not our education depends on the people teaching it or if it’s the student’s responsibility to want to learn. "To what extent do our schools serve the goals of a true education?" Education helps people learn new things, but it can be changed. Although education helps students learn and plan for the future, it can be improved to help benefit students ahead of time.
Back in the early ages, the idea of year-round school would be thought as completely insane, because the farming families depended on their children to be home during harvest time. Now in modern times, the term year-round school is becoming more and more common in the United States of America. Slowly the schools are changing the way they teach, from giving the students a long three month break to a shorter one month break during the summer. The change of America’s high schools to the year-round schedule benefits both the schools and the students because they still get breaks throughout the school year, the children are less likely to forget information, the children would have more time with the teachers to learn, and the parents would not have to pay for childcare during the long summer break.
Educators debate extending high school to five years because of increasing demands on students from employers and colleges to participate in extracurricular activities and community service in addition to having high grades. Some educators support extending high school to five years because they think students need more time to achieve all that is expected of them. Other educators do not support extending high school to five years because they think students would lose interest in school and attendance would drop in the fifth year. In my opinion high school should not be extended to five years. I believe that school should not be extended to five years because students would most certainly lose interest in it. High school is also a students own responsibility and if a student fails then that is their own mistake and should not get an extra year just to have an extra chance of getting better grades to get into college. My last reason is that there will be more student dropouts by the fifth year because of the loss in interest
Nelson Mandela an African nationalist and socialist, once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” While reading “Marita’s Bargain,” an essay by Malcolm Gladwell, teachers should help students try harder to do better in school and focus on getting a better education. “Marita’s Bargain” also talks about getting into a special program for students who cannot focus. “Kewauna’s Ambition” by Paul Tough talks about education in a way it focuses more on shaping the minds of privileged students and non-privileged students. Teaching students to focus on learning and have less breaks between could help them get to where they should be when they get to college or beyond.
Students, in college, must choose a specific major to pursue a degree in; however, High School education has always deviated from that path, in favor of a more rigid general education structure. The notion of early specialization frightens some people, but allowing students to specialize would increase student engagement and promote the equalization of subjects like Music and Drama with Mathematics and the Sciences. Although specialization will be prioritized in the Super School, a proper High School education should instill students with fundamental knowledge, hence a student specializing in Computer Science would still have to take classes in English, but those classes would be more focused on report writing, than say creative essays. That being said, High School freshmen, aren’t necessarily going to be sure of what they want to pursue in later life, so it is incredibly important that they have a chance to switch tracks midway through their schooling.
The first reason for the traditional school year, the students should have a break time and they will spend time for the family traditional vacation. For summer breaks no longer term of YRE, the students will have three to four weeks shorter breaks then back to school. They attend school for more than 180 days calendars. For example, the students feel all the stress about heavily homework, test, studying, and quiz, but they need a break. In fact, summer vacation is a family tradition. YRE should give an opportunity for health and social education. In addition, the most United State school kids have lost their summer break in 2.5 million as their school districts options of YRE (“Year-Rou...
However, i disagree i think that summer break for students should not be longer. Cause if summer breaks are longer than the students can forget about the stuff that they learned in school before their summer break. So there for summer break should be shorter. Cause if they are shorter than students wouldn't forget about the stuff they have learned and when the students go back to school they will remember what they did before summer break. If the students remembered what they did before summer break than teachers wouldn't have to teach the students much cause they would already know what to
Should the school year be is a topic that has been under discussion for many years. Many believe that the school year is just fine while others may argue that it should be extended. Getting an education has become more demanding and there is also more information that students are to learn before entering the real world of college and life beyond. There are also many days that students have off such as holidays, breaks, and snow days.
.... Many say that us kids are just lazy and don’t care about our future. They don’t realize that is not just laziness or not being caution of our future but that there is a case where we don’t know what to do or were just confuse or over whelm with homework, growing up and thinking about our life outside of school. Of course there are many solutions to face these problems of lack of concentration in school. All we got to do is speck up, speak up for someone who needs help and be listen by those who care and want to help.
