The Dangers and Effects Guns Have on People
“More then 30,000 people are killed by firearms each year in this country”(USA Gun Violence Statistics). Because of the U.S. Government allows U.S. citizens to buy firearms more than 30,000 people are killed each year (USA Gun Violence Statistics). The rate of people dying each year by guns is about to pass the number of deaths by car. Guns are very dangerous and if the legal age of having a gun is 21, then why is it so many teenagers have one. On average, mass shootings occur every two weeks and school shootings occur once a month (CNN). Statistics show that people are mimicking some of the mass shootings that there has been, for example theater shootings have been more and more frequent (CNN). If guns cause such a problem then why are they still legal in the United States? Aside from homicide people use guns for suicide. 15 through 21 years old is the age where suicide is more common then any other ages. Teens should not be able to have access to a gun like so many do.
Not only do people kill others with guns, sometimes the guns go off on accident. Guns are dangerous and need to be controlled. Sometimes people

play around with guns and they accidentally pull the trigger killing an innocent bystander or loved one. So many times kids get ahold of guns and people end up dead. Kids and teenagers should not be able to get ahold of guns yet they do. School shootings happen so often now because kids and teens have the ability to get ahold of a gun. Guardians should have their firearms in a locked case hidden from any kids. If parents or legal guardians hid their guns and firearms it could help saves lives. Parents do not know if their child is struggling with a mental or emotional problem. Sometimes emotional and mental problems in kids and teens lead to bad decisions. If the Government would make guns illegal then it would help stop the amount of deaths each year. If guns were made illegal then there would be no need to have one for “protection”. Some people do not realize how dangerous guns really are and the very fact that they are made to look like toys makes them even more dangerous. If guns are made to seem like toys then it makes people not realize what a true danger they really are. Kids play video games about shooting and there are all these toy guns getting advertised. If you go to the park you would see kids with there fake finger guns. If in reality getting shot is so serious then why is it we make guns seem like a joke? Kids and teens get this idea in their heads that guns are cool. When teens and kids think something so dangerous is cool then they do not realize how dangerous they are, and the people advertising guns do not care about the effect it has on kids and teens. The government and the military are the only people that should have guns. If we got rid of guns with the U.S. citizens, but kept it for the government and military then the U.S. would still be able to protect itself. If people are so scared of robberies, then the government can just have police go around each neighborhood. The police can be around more to help protect people. If the military were the only one allowed to have guns, then they would still be able to protect the Country and protect the citizens in the U.S. People can still be protected without the use of guns. Guns are very dangerous and effect peoples lives so dramatically.
Not all, but some people use guns for purposely killing and ending lives of others. The total amount of lives guns take are almost equal to the amount of lives car accidents take each year (USA Gun Violence Statistics). Guns are the most used weapons for suicide (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Kids and teens get ahold of guns by knowing were their parent’s hide them of they have one themselves. Guns are advertised to make them seem like toys, when in reality, they kill so easily. Making guns illegal would drop the numbers of deaths significantly (CNN). All in all, guns are not something that should be taken lightly and the government should really rethink their decision on having them legal to the citizens of the United
States.
There have been several incidents where a child in the household has mistaken a gun for a toy and have mortally wounded himself and others with it. There have also been occasions where careless gun owners have left their guns loaded and have accidentally shot someone. Studies have shown that four people die each day due to accidental gun fire. Anti-gun users have pointed out that states that have relaxed their gun laws have had an increases in homicides. Also just because its anyone’s right to own a gun does not mean that they went through any sort of training to be able to use that gun. Most anti-gun users argue that most of these people who buy guns need to be properly trained before they can operate a gun, in order to prevent innocent and unnecessary harm or
Imagine, a person is sitting in their classroom in college. He or she is focused on listening to the teacher, because he or she needs to pass the final exam in order to graduate. All of a sudden, an intruder charges through the door. The intruder pulls out a gun and starts blasting bullets throughout the classroom. There is nowhere to run and there is no way to fight back. Everyone is hit and on the floor, bleeding. This person is so close to graduating and starting a new life. Now his life has been cut short, because there was someone who illegally brought a gun to a school. Because the school had a symbol of “no guns allowed”. Because the intruder knew there was no one else could shoot back. Now imagine if that student, dying on the floor,
Imagine... you are driving down the street to see your loving family. You stop at a gas station and a guy comes in. He has a bandana and bad intentions. All of a sudden, he loads a pistol and aims it towards you. What are your options? Try to visualize, a guy going to see his wife and kids, but when out of nowhere a person pulls you aside and then points a pistol at you. Over the course of years, ninety-three United States citizens are killed with guns. Due to these reasons, it seems it is necessary to get rid of guns because of the 21,175 suicides, 505 deaths due to accidental/ negligent discharge of a firearm. Guns should be banned for civilian use, due to too many deaths from unregistered users, misuse, and increased crime rate.
Taking privileges away from the majority of mentally stable, healthy, hard working Americans just because a percentage of alcoholics, drug addicts, gang members, and mentally ill individuals are to blame for the school shootings, murders and suicides, would just be insane. So, why is the government trying to implement more strict gun laws for the people that don't do these heinous crimes. The debate on if the government should take the guns away from all the citizens in order to stop these crimes would not stop those who are committing the crimes in the first place. Then, the question would be, how would we know who really has the guns and where they are?
banned a handful of assault riffles when they are not even used for most gun
Today in the United States many people argue over the fact of guns being legal or illegal. There are people using guns for personal safety and there are others who use them for crimes, as well as for other situations. Firearm deaths in the United States have slowly been decreasing from year to year with all these bills getting passed to promote a safer country than ever before. Guns are the main weapon for youth suicide, school shootings, and for committing murder. In 2010 there were 2,711 infants, child, and teenage firearm deaths. As in school shootings and in committing murder, studies show shooters often had multiple, non-automatic guns, shootings were planned, most youth tell before shooting, shooters have a history of being bullied or threatened, shooters have mental issues, and shooters have done suicidal gestures before (Gun Control with School Shootings). Although there are people who use guns for murdering, there are also those who oppose guns being used without the proper requirements. 85% of all respondents to the survey supporting requiring states to report people to national background-checks systems who are prohibited from owning gu...
Gun control is a highly controversial topic in today’s world where the fight is between the liberal and the conservatives. Many people believe that guns should be banned due to many recent massacres that have happened whereas others are wanting people to have background checks done before owning a gun. I am against gun control because banning handguns in the United States should not be allowed because handguns fail to protect the people and it is ineffective.
Groups for stricter gun control, such as Handgun Control Inc. (HCI), argue that guns do kill people. They think that it is the gun that makes people feel they are in the right and have the power to take someone 's life and control a situation (Kriegel 818). In reality, one cannot place the blame on the gun. Guns aren 't animate objects that can pick their victims. Guns require people to pull the trigger. For this reason it is my belief that the emphasis of gun control should be placed on teaching gun safety and keeping the criminals from getting their hands on firearms.
Everybody in America knows that guns can be a major problem. Especially when these tools are being used on other people. You must be very cautious when you own a gun, cautious as a mouse trying to steal cheese of a trap. Saddly, a lot of people think that guns shouldn’t be used as much as they are now. A handful of people say that if they screw up with using a firearm they should be placed in jail with a box of crayons and paper to draw on. That’s it. Now different cultures have different point of views of this topic. Although, to have a gun is a right that most people will fight to keep, so most people will lose that debate. Unless they have there own Saturday night special than you will probably lose. Plentiful of people also have an opinion on that they don’t think that the gun is the problem it’s the person.
Due to the recent disruption of violent crimes on campus, many citizens that are pro-gun activist have suggested that both the students and teachers should be allowed to carry concealed weapons on school campuses. Those who are with guns allowed on school campuses claim that their rights have been violated for the reason that many college campuses refuse to allow weapons of any kind on their property. The Constitution of The United States of America already grants citizens the right to carry guns with them. It is not appropriate for guns to be in a vulnerable area such as a college campus or any University. There are already too many guns available to the public or easy to get any kind of gun, and allowing them on
An interesting fact is that there is a country where guns are outlawed. That nation of peace is Japan. There is on average 1-2 gun related murders per year compared to the 10,000 in America. Just in 2008, there were well over 12,000 deaths caused by guns, which only 11 were committed by Japan. The murders tied with guns in the United States are more of the top 20 richest countries in the world (Fisher).
Gun control is an awfully big issue in the United States today. Many people in America don’t agree with the gun control laws that they have today. Gun control laws only take guns and freedom away from law-abiding citizens. Many citizens have their own reasons for owning a gun. Why would the government want to make it harder for people to own a gun? People that own guns aren’t very likely to be attacked by criminals. Owning a handgun is one of the best ways of protection when used correctly. The second amendment states “the right to bear arms”; does this grant everyone the right to own a gun? Gun control laws have not been proven to do anything for citizens. Gun control laws just make it harder for the good guy average Joe to own a gun. Gun control laws are not a good idea, and are taking part in the loss of our freedom that was given to us.
trying to implement laws that will keep weapons out of the hands of every one.
People who prefer to own guns say that guns are not killing people but the users. However, studies have showed that most of the killer said that they did not plan to kill the victims. In addition to that, more 70% of all killing come from family dispute or arguments between friends. (Federal Bureau of Investigation). If there were no guns, the issues would have been ended by shouting match, or maybe fights. Besides that, research has showed that if murderers attack people with guns, they have more chances to kill victims than with other weapons like knives.(Abner J Mikva).
Guns have a long history in the United States. Guns are used for self-defense but they are also used for hunting. Since guns are a part of the American culture, it is almost impossible to get rid of all the guns in the country. However, by training people how to use the guns properly, give people the right mental care, and limit the people who can have guns could stop school shootings in America.
