Do you ever feel like school is to much and you need a break? Do you think taking a break after high school is good or bad? I think high school graduates shouldn’t take a year off because they will forget information, be unmotivated to go back, and college will be very expensive. A bad effect of high school graduates taking a year off after high school is they will forget all the information they learned. They will study and taking notes all throughout high school to learn concepts for college that they will forget. In addition, if they do take a year off and forget all the skills they learned then they will have to take classes just to get caught up to start the regular college classes. For an example, my friend failed their core classes, so to get all caught up they had to take classes to learn the concepts. As I wearily sat in my seat, writing an essay on the importance of electricity in the modern world, I caught myself glancing repeatedly at the clock that was so carefully perched above the teacher’s desk. “Ten minutes, only ten more minutes left until school is over and I get to go home!” I told myself. In most schools, the average school day is about eight hours long. Eight hours of continuously sitting in a chair taking notes during lectures, doing classwork, projects, etc. During these eight hours of school, students deserve a short, outdoor break in which they can isolate themselves from the stress of working all day and just relax. Studies have shown that people who take short breaks throughout the day to do light, outdoor breaks are more productive than those who do not. A short, outdoor break will benefit students due to the fact that students will have time to relax; students will be able to focus more, concentrate, and be more productive; and teachers will have more time to prepare for the next class coming.
After high school, there are many different opportunities that open up for everyone. Some people have the chance to go to a prestigious college right after they are done with their high school career. Others might just want a break from school and possibly take a year off. There are no right or wrong answers to what someone does after they finish high school. It all depends on the person's situation or what they feel is best for them. However, there may be some more benefits to taking a year off than going straight to college.
There are different types of high school graduates in America: some seniors already know what they are aiming for the future and some others wish not to know, while several others care less about their future – even if they are going to graduate in a couple of days.
