How about we take a gander at the amount of footballers get paid contrasted with different employments. Top footballers like Wayne Rooney and David Beckham can be paid up to an incredible 1048 times more than a normal blaze warrior (who is paid £25,000 every year). Lionel Messi, the world's most elevated paid footballer, is paid in excess of 193 times more cash consistently than David Cameron, who deals with the entire of the UK! I cherish a bit of football, yet by doing this, we are stating that we esteem these sportspeople more than other individuals that we just couldn't manage without. Messi gets paid a mammoth £27.5 million a year, and the UK's top paid footballing star, Rooney, gets paid 70p consistently! While you have been perusing …show more content…
I'm certain that we all, eventually, have longed that things were not all that tight, that we had some more money, even that we were rich! Cash is the inside of numerous people groups' lives, however in the event that you got £30 million consistently, what would you do with it? Before long, rooms filled of stuff can be discouraging, so do footballers just let the totals in their ledgers stack up?
Lionel Messi has a vast auto gathering, offering autos, for example, Ferraris and other supercar models. Anyhow what number of these autos will the star really drive? What's more what number of will he purchase, only for the buzz of getting something new – like a 4-year-old each time he gets another toy. I am certain that if these stars got paid a couple of million less consistently, it would have next to no effect on their lives, however for families in creating nations who get by on short of what 10p a day, it could mean the distinction in the middle of life and
Tyson Hartnett of The Huffington Post once said “Even with any type of scholarship, college athletes are typically dead broke.” This quote regards a tremendous controversy that has been talked about for the past few years. He talks about whether or not college athletes should be paid for their duties. Despite the fact college athletes are not professionals, they should most certainly be paid for playing for their respective schools due to many factors. These factors include health risks and the income bring in for their colleges as well as to the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
Americans believe that athletes, celebrities, and CEOs are the highest paid jobs in America. This belief is true however the average income of these three jobs is nowhere near what the perception is. Athletes are the most confusing when it comes to pay since people do not factor in that an average professional is only 4.85 years, NFL is 3.5 years, MLB is 5.6 years, NBA is 4.8, and NHL is 5.5 years, (RSVLTS, 2013) United States Bureau of Labor Statistics stated that an average income for “athletes and sport competitors” was only $47,710 (BLS, 2017). People believe that athletes are only the stars you see on television, but this is not the case. Athletes are risking their health for that paycheck. They spend a majority of their lives in the gym or on
Isn't it amazing how one little controversial question can cause so much drama? Take the NCAA for instance. Within recent years the question of weather NCAA athletes should be paid or not has arisen and caused them some unwanted attention. Many coaches and sports enthusiast have been interviewed on their opinion. “Students are not professional athletes who are paid salaries and incentives for a career in sports. They are students receiving access to a college education through their participation in sports, for which they earn scholarships to pay tuition, fees, room and board, and other allowable expenses,” (Mitchell). “There has been major discussion recently if college athletes should or shouldn't be paid while they are in school. The first thing opponents say is, "They're already getting a scholarship! That is more than anybody else! Don't be greedy!”(Hartnett). These are just two men’s opinions, but no one needs to give his or her opinion any longer. The answer to this question is unmistakably clear. NCAA athletes do not need to be paid because they get to go to college for free, their living expenses are paid for, and there would not be a fair way to choose which teams are paid and which are not.
Now compare that to Messi who can't even pay off his tax; he goes to court every year to pay his taxes a year after tax salary. Cristiano Ronaldo also has a unique contract with Real Madrid where he is getting paid £288,000 a week (after tax salary), costing Real Madrid over £500,000 a week to have him in the squad. Ronaldo is also the most endorsed footballer and currently has the fourth most lucrative endorsement deal in sports with Nike worth £14.1 million a year ($21 million) plus a number of other deals. Ronaldo also has CR7 branded with clothing and shoe lines plus $80 million worth of CR7 hotel projects in four different
I think sports players should be payed more.I think this because football players can get injured and sometimes can’t play for the rest of his or her life.So they pay them more because when they get injured they will have to pay for the hospital expences. The soldiers dont get paid as much because they might be over seas and wont be able to use he money.
Some people have different opinions on if college football players should get paid or if they shouldn’t. My opinion is they should. I think they put a lot more effort and heart into playing than NFL players do that get paid. NFL players do it for the money. College players don’t play for money, they play to try and make it to the pros.
4.7 million dollars. This represents about 84 times more than an average person makes in their life. Yet, this can also mean something else. One person can make this and could do it in a year. That’s how much one rookie from the NBA makes in a single season! They just shoot balls into hoops, and game after game, they defend it from the opponents net. They don’t save people on a daily basis, they don’t work their whole life for the minimum, and instead, they don’t use their money wisely. This is not right. Athletes are overpaid and people have had enough.
The argument that college athletes should be paid as been ongoing for many years. With the growing rise of college athletes’ popularity in the media, many people believe that college athletes should be paid, but they do not see the negative effects of the payments. The payments of college athletes could cause their price of enrollment to rise, forcing many students to transfer to other universities or not attend college at all. It may also cause fan ratings to drop because the relatability factor would disappear. Along with university budget cuts appearing, academic scholarships and athletic scholarships would disappear. College athletes should not be paid because college athletes are students and not professional players, the deep connection
The controversy of athletes being overpaid dates back to 1922, when well-known baseball player George “Babe” Ruth received $50,000 within the first year of his career. Ruth’s extensive wealth was bolstered by dozens of endorsements (Saperecom). As it is shown in figure 1, in the Fortunate 50 Tiger Woods takes the number one spot for highest paid athlete. Tiger’s salary for 2011 is $2,294,116 and like Babe Ruth, his endorsements exceed his salary earning $60,000,000 making his total $62,294,116 (Freedman). It’s crazy to think that 89 years ago professional athletes scarcely made more than the average person today. This is of course not counting the inflation that has occurred since the years which Babe Ruth played baseball.
College athletes should be paid for playing their sport. They do an enormous amount of work for their universities by bringing in a massive amount of money and should be rewarded with some of that money. They can struggle holding a job that will work with their busy schedules with having to practice and study for several hours a day. They leave school early in order to pursue a professional career in their sport.
To most people one million dollars a lot of money, to most people one thousand dollars is a lot, but even though it is hard to believe, to some people these figures mean nothing. It is no secret that professional athletes particularly those who play soccer, golf, and race F1 cars make big bucks, but people do not realize to what extent.
How would you like to be paid 6.4 million just to play a game of college basketball? It is worth considering that college basketball players don’t get paid at all for working in games even at practice. Athletes should get paid for playing because they need to support their families, stay in school longer, and they will even play differently, students need to be able to support their families, secondly they would need to donate money to the program if they want to keep it going. While Basketball and Football tend to bring the most revenue, other programs tend to make money while some don’t at all. The NCAA has a regulation that is intended that they should limit training to 20 hours per week.
In today’s society many will argue whether or not professional athletes are overpaid. In the present time athletes are being paid phenomenally large amounts of money for their entertainment. It is my claim that all professional athletes are overpaid because they do not offer society an essential function that improves or enhances our world in comparison to other professionals such as medical doctors, lawyers, and teachers. Society does not value entertainment enough to warrant such high salaries such as those of many professional athletes. There is no reason that these athletes should demand these tremendous amounts of money. This is why you have to put into question their reasoning for demanding such high salaries.
Sport has always entertained and influenced our lives. It creates dreams for children and goals for adults. However, many fans are oblivious to the millions they pocket each year. It is without doubt that our sports stars are grossly overpaid. Their annual earnings exceed those we make in a lifetime, even when compared to highly qualified professions. Despite the money factor, we sometimes question the values that are emphasized.
What comes to mind if someone mentions entertainer or an athlete? People think of their lavish lifestyle, and their salaries are excessive. Many say that athletes and entertainers live in a care free world by all the money they make and that their job isn’t that hard to do. Although some people say that people who contribute to the society don’t make money like entertainers and athletes do, because of all the extravagant amount of money they make, the consumers would have to pay more. I feel that entertainers and athletes should be making their high salaries because they put in hard work to get to that point, freely donate to charities, and society aids their high wages.
