Technology has advanced a long way in the last 100 years. Several devices have become easier to use or have become more efficient at what they do or how they do it. Some people say that we take this technology for granted and should be more satisfied with what we have, but in general, people are still unsatisfied. This dissatisfaction and desire for more has fueled the development and advancement of the technologies we have today. People should take technology for granted and have high expectations for it.
While taking technology for granted means that people will have less appreciation for it, people have always had this mindset. Hundreds of years ago people took concepts like the earth being flat and the sun revolving around the earth for granted (Connol). People have always taken ideas and technologies for granted. Right now people know more than we ever have and have even more technology. This amount of information is like a baseline of what is expected by the current generations. The concept of taking what is available for granted hasn’t changed it has just grown to include more advanced technologies.

If people didn’t expect to have quality products that worked consistently manufactures would produce products that were unreliable. Consumers expect their new phones, cars, TVs, and so to work well and to do so consistently. This creates a level of expectations for manufacturers to meet in order to make their product appeal to consumers. This cycle of consumers setting expectations for what manufacturers produce has created a higher quality of products for
Technology has become an integral part of our modern society. It has paved the way for growth in all aspects of our daily lives and has helped us mature into better educated adults. Technology is an ever changing constant that will be a part of our culture for years to come. To not embrace technology but blame it for an epidemic of immature adults today, would cause us to miss out on the momentum that will carry us into a future in which the generations will be more mature than even our
In today's world, technology is constantly changing from a new paperclip to an improvement in hospital machinery. Technology lets people improve the way they live so that they can preserve their own personal energy and focus on the really important factors in life. Some people focus their energy on making new innovations to improve transportation and the health of people that may save lives and some people focus on making new designs of packaging CDS. Technology is significant in everyone's life because it rapidly changes what is in the market. But, some new innovations of technology are ridiculous because they serve no purpose in helping mankind.
Technology is one of the most important things in everyone’s life. Technology improves every day. in regards to today’s youth, they were born with all the new technological inventions as opposed to our parents. In “Quality Time, Redefined” by Alex Williams, published in the New York Times, the author talks about the positive and negative effects on technology. I enjoyed this reading because it related my personal day to day life. Even though some Americans acknowledge that technology is a part of their everyday life, they do not see the negative outcome of technology, they are blinded only by the positive aspects.
Technology has vastly improved throughout the years, information that once took weeks to find is now easily accessible at our fingertips at any given moment. Due to such changes some think such technological advancements are deterring this generation's overall knowledge. In The Dumbest Generation by Mark Bauerlein, he discusses the disastrous result from the arrival of instant gratification go-go-go digital age on america's youth. The result being, a collective loss context and history. In Is Google Making Us Stupid? Nicholas Cara goes into detail about here growing thoughts on technology and its advancements having changed the way she thinks. She states, “Immersing myself in a book or a lengthy article used to be easy...my concentration often starts to drift after two or three pages..The deep reading that used to come naturally has become a struggle.” Cara compared the difference between how easily she read books back then and how hard it is for her to read a book now. Cara connects such issue with the advancement of technology, “Research that once required days in the stacks or periodical rooms of libraries can now be done in minutes.” With today's technology we are so accustomed to instant gratitude so when we attempt to do an activity which

"Use of Modern Technology, an Inevitable Addiction." Africa News Service 22 July 2013. Opposing Viewpoints in Context.
Perhaps it is not too much "information," but an explosion of "noninformation" (Wurman 1989) lacking relevance, quality, and usefulness. What is needed is better judgment of the quality, accuracy, and reliability of what is received(Kinnaman 1994). According to John Seeley Brown, people may perceive overload because the information they receive does not fit into current mental models for understanding the world (Tetzeli 1994). The problem of information overload thus has both technological and human aspects. The solution is also two pronged: both technological--create better technological tools and make better use of them--and human--revise mental models and sharpen the capacity for critical reflection and analysis.
Ever since the dawn of time, curiosity has driven mankind into the intriguing revolution of technology. Beginning with simple, fire-starting techniques by use of stick and stone and advancing into complex, space-exploring odysseys, civilization has created endless scientific and technological discoveries. By looking at this developmental progress, one can notice that culture as a whole has been and will continue to be affected by technology. In an era where this kind of change is rapidly increasing, there are those who are afraid of its power. But do these concerns outweigh the amount of positive influence that ever-evolving industrial science brings?
Albert Einstein once said, “It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity.” Technology is a controversial topic, some say we are depending in excess from gadgets and devices. However, if it wasn’t for technology we wouldn’t be able to experience many benefits.
Everywhere I turn, I see someone on a cell phone, either talking or texting. Every car next to me in traffic has a GPS on the dashboard, including my own. It seems that everyone needs some help from technology on a daily basis. It both surrounds and intrigues us. Technology can be helpful, fun, and entertaining. Much of technology is created to assist with making projects faster or daily tasks more efficient. However, the collaboration of technologies in our lives has a few negative effects and I think we need to scale back a bit on our use of these much adored technologies.
In the 21st century, we live in the era of technology-driven world. Humans never stopped the development of technology, because we always have a natural tendency to pursue a higher level of human being. Technology is the best evidence of human intelligence, which has shown that we are different from other animals. We have lived with technology since we were born. Although it has intervened heavily in our daily lives that we can’t no longer live without, nobody can deny the achievements it has brought to us.
Most of us can agree that society has come a long way, the growth we’ve accomplished over the years has brought us great advancements. We can also agree that one area that we've made some of our greatest progress is in technology. We are in the age of technology, we are more intelligent, modern and civilized. With all these advancements being made, one enjoyable result of is having more convenience. Everything is now at our fingertips, from the way we communicate, shop, access education, even to the way we job search, and let’s be honest, the generations before us did not have it as favorable with this luxury of convenience.
There is no doubt that the accomplishments made through technology are astonishing. Technology has made amazing impacts on everything from science in space to medical science to the devices we use every day that make our lives easier. People are living longer and better than ever before, but we can’t forget how to live without it. “Just because technology is there and makes something easier doesn’t mean we should rely on it so much that we can’t think for ourselves,” (Levinson).
When technology solves one of our problems we keep immediately coming up with new, larger problems, no technology will ever be able to satisfy our constantly new needs. However, if we allow technology to make our life easier, and focus more on the quality, rather than the quantity of life, and also learn how to use technology to our greatest advantage such as how to use it to influence others we can all greatly benefit. For example, the invention of the car allowed us to save time, when compared to walking. However, it also made us want to go further by giving us this option, so overall we spend more time getting to places. The same is true for other technologies we want to travel to more countries, learn more. The search for experience has become the meaning of life for many. The technology we are surrounding ourselves with is designed to give us more time for ourselves, which is something we all want. However, today, while technology is as developed as ever before, we are living in a time with the biggest scarcity of time. People are trying to live 10 lives at once and a lot of stress and anxiety occurs from
Technology is making our lives easier than ever, but are we getting too dependent on it? Technology is improving over the past decades. It has become a part and parcel of everyday life. Without it, people would have a lot of trouble keeping pace with the whole world. At the same time, todays new generations are incredibly dependent on it.
