Whether happy or sad, greetings determine the state of mood and mind that a person might be in. Greeting a person is as simple as saying “hello” but many go beyond that rudimentary statement and greet another with passion and questions. Polite greetings in a community can bond and form unity among people of different backgrounds, race, gender, gender, and ethnicity. The anthropologist was accurate in his statement that polite speech can communicate politeness in a community because it develops a sense of respect and worth to another and it builds relationships. I am a fan of yours. Although Paddington is presented as a kind bear, many often doubt his knowledge and lack the feeling of respect due to the fact that he is a bear. Through the development of polite speech in a culture or community, one is able to build relationships with one another. In the novel, the Great Gatsby, Jay Gastby is perceived as a hidden and mysterious man, who may have been a murderer. In the novel, many people are unaware of the life of Jay Gatsby. Known for his extravagant parties, drinks, dancing, and more, Jay ultimately remains incognito. Throughout the parties, many people look for Gastby, yet they are afraid of the true reality of who Jay Gastby truly is. Nick Carrawy, a character who follows along in the book, is curious about this man’s life and personality. Curious like a monkey, Nick goes to Jay Gastby’s party. While Nick is sitting at the party, he is greeted by an old man who kindly starts up a conversation. This man, Jay Gatsby, starts to talk to Nick, calling him “old sport.” Being a polite host, Gatsby overcomes his fear of people and starts up a conversation with Nick. Talking about both of their mutual experiences during the war, Jay and Nick enjoy each other's company. While many perceive Gatsby as a mysterious man, Nick experiences a rare occurrence: Gatsby greeting someone at his own party. Breaking his own chains, Gatsby branches out of his comfort zone, ultimately talking to his own neighbor Nick Carraway. While building a true relationship takes time and effort, Jay took baby steps into the world of friendship by initiating the first conversation with Nick at his party. Greetings affect relationships, due to the fact that one must present polite greetings and manners to one another in order to create bonds like no other. Although Gatsby greeted Nick with a warm welcome into his home, Gatsby demonstrated a reserved, hidden character throughout the rest of the novel. The anthropologist was accurate in his statement
