What do people earn from devoting their time to sports? To join a team, it takes commitment and hard work. Teams give students a sense of belonging and purpose. Sports, such as volleyball, help shape a person into who they are. Volleyball teaches high school students valuable lessons that are useful on and off the court.
First and foremost, volleyball helps with how well a student can work with others. Throughout life it is required to work with others. Unlike basketball, one person cannot win a game for the team, it takes all six players to work together. The setter and the hitters have to talk to each other, the passers have to talk to each other, and the blockers have to talk it each other. Volleyball is like one big game of which team can communicate amongst themselves better. If a team has communication, everything else falls into place. Communication is a fantastic quality to have in sports and in real life.

For example, a blocker has to be quick on their feet to attempt to block anything and everything that might come over to their side of the net.
