World War two was one of the worst and most devastating events in world history. This sad war caused about 72 million deaths, and still today, we look back on this and understand that evil is all around us. This was one of the worst and most recognizable events in history, although, there have been countless other tragic events that put shame upon us. Given the events of the Ku Klux Klan, the Charleston Church Shooting in South Carolina, and the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, facts can without a doubt prove that more people choose to be evil, rather than being good.
The first event that proves that people choose to be evil is the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) organization. This is a very racist organization where a group of white people do everything that they can to try and stop certain people from gaining power and civil rights in the United States. There are about 5000 members of the KKK today that still do not feel that all people should be equal. The organization started in December of 1865 in Pulaski Tennessee, just as the civil war was coming to an end. It was because of the war that the KKK got started. When the southern part of the US lost the war, slaves became known more for people and not property. These slaves were African Americans. The KKK

intended to bring the slaves back and keep African Americans civil rights very low, and keep the white race supreme to others. The KKK was at it’s peak of power in the 1920s and also the 1960s. They mostly target african american people, but they also target people that are Jewish, immigrants, gay, and lesbian. The KKK usually come out at night and terrorize these types of people. They have done things like murdered people, lynched people, raped people, bombed people, and also committed arson out of hate to certain people. They are mostly based in the south, but also operate in the north as well. The KKK is bad because they treat people horribly just because of what makes them who they are, and because of things that people cannot control about themselves.
They targeted African American people just because of the color of their skin. These are things that people have no control over. Although we are all people, the KKK thinks that there is only one supreme race of humans, and that not everybody should be treated fairly just because of who they are. Some people may think that the KKK was good because they made whites feel secure about themselves, and made themselves feel important, but all people are people, and everyone should be treated fairly no matter what makes them
different. The second event that proves that people are evil, is a more recent shooting, which takes us to Charleston, South Carolina. On June 17, 2015, a 21 year old man by the name of Dylann Roof stormed into the basement of the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church and shot 10 people. 9 of the 10 people died, but one lucky man survived the shooting and was rushed to the hospital to live life another day. 6 of these people were women, and the other 3 were men. One of these men, was the pastor who was one of the victims who were killed. All of these victims were African American. They were attending a prayer service on Wednesday evening when the event occurred. As the shooter began his rampage, one witness remembers the words coming out of the gunman's mouth as clear as day, ¨ I have to do it. You rape our women and you're taking over our country. And you have to go.¨ When Dylann was caught, it was said that he was carrying 3 different guns at the crime scene. These murders were considered to be a crime out of hate to the country and to African Americans. He also said that he committed this crime in hopes of starting a war based on the different races of mankind. He was shown in multiple photos of him dishonoring, and showing hate towards America such as burning the American Flag. He was also seen in some photos of him promoting racist things such as the days of the Confederate States of America. This is another proof that people are evil because just because he was mad about something, and he did not like America, and also a race of people in America, he murdered 9 people just so that he could show his dislike, and get his point across. He only judged those people on the color of their skin, and not who the people actually turned out to be. The people had not committed any crimes that would have ignited the hate inside of him, and so that proves that he only did it out of hate of all African Americans. Some people may say that this race of people did not originate from here, and that they are stealing our preferences in life, but really they are a part of our society who belong here just as much as we do. Also, Americans did not originate here as well, so this means that African Americans have the exact same right to be here as normal Americans. The third reason that proves that people choose to be evil over good, is the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther king was a Civil rights activist who fought for African American rights. When you think of fighting, you may think of violence and weapons, but Martin Luther king was a very peaceful man who fought for rights in a peaceful manner. He did not Hingis such as marches and sit ins that would not endanger anybody. He was a major influence on getting civil rights for African Americans, and also won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. Very unfortunately though, on April 4th 1968, Martin Luther King was assassinated by a 40 year old man by the name of James Earl Ray. The assassination happened in Memphis Tennessee on the deck of the Lorraine Motel. The shot was fired out of a bathroom window in a house that James had rented. James did it because he not not like the fact that African Americans were rising in power and gaining civil rights. He decided to take out the leader of the uprising in hopes of putting it to a stop. This proves that people choose to be evil because James Earl Ray does not like the fact that African Americans are finally starting to be treated fairly. He thinks that Whites and Blacks are two totally separate people, but really everybody has a place in this world together as one, and nobody should be treated like trash because of the color of their skin. Others might think that the assassination was a good thing because they might have had negative feelings for African Americans as well. They might think that by stopping blacks civil rights that there is less of competition for jobs or other situations, but African Americans are our people, and so treating them bad is the same as treating whites bad. You might only remember some of the huge evil events that happen to the people of America, but if anybody looks into it more, they may find that evil is all around them, and everywhere we go. Evil is something that many people do not want in their world, and so it is very important that someone steps up to the plate, and does something about this in lives today. If someone does not, the world that many people love will be doomed, and so somebody will need to stop this evil in the world. Make this world a better place by showing people that everyone is equal in this world. Based on evidence of the KKK, The Charleston Church Shooting, and The Assassination of Dr. Martin Luther Jr, Understanding is easy now that evil is everywhere, and so straight out facts can conclude that more people choose to be more evil than good.
Mistakes in the World’s History World War II officially started on September 1, 1939, but what really pulled America into forceful action was when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. When Americans heard of the bombing, people panicked. Americans blamed everything on the Japanese and hated even the innocent Japanese-Americans for everything that happened. At this time, on the other side of the world, Hitler had already been overseeing concentration camps for Jews for eight years. The first concentration camps were in 1933, and millions of Jews were murdered and tortured mercilessly for no reason other than they were a race/ethnicity hated by Hitler.
World War II, known as the largest armed conflict in history, began in Europe in the 1930s and led to effect many people. The war resulted in not only the involvement of more countries than any other war but also introduced powerful, new, nuclear weapons that also contributed to the most deaths. As Hitler rose to power in 1933 the Holocaust began, his quest for the ‘perfect’ race resulted in the use of concentration camps, which would help to create the largest genocide of people in history.
In the United States, the Second World War was considered “the good war”. It’s sort of weird that World War II was considered a “good war” considering that this war took five times as many lives than the very first World War and is also appalling to know that one of the bloodiest wars in history was known in the United States as “the good war”, but the reason for this classification is because of the role that the U.S. played in bringing an end to the fascist dictatorship in Italy, bring an end to the aggression of the Japanese, and last but not least the Allied Forces put an end to Hitler’s Nazi Regime, and prevented the Third Reich from taking over Europe. The war even marked the start of something new by guiding a new world order, thus putting
They hated anyone who was not a white Christian, and would go as far as to kill anyone who was not. This group is the Ku Klux Klan. This group of people were known primarily for their very Nazi-based ideologies, which in turn, they ended up murdering many who were not white, or even burning down the homes and business’ of those who weren’t. They were strongly against the progressive movement of the American Government toward the African American people. Although today this group has lost many in numbers, there are still a surprisingly large amount of people who are part of
Adolf Hitler, the leader of Nazi Germany, acquired his power through diplomacy and his words drove him to the top and brainwashed the German people into believing in a senseless war. Liesel the protagonist of The Book Thief, has reoccurring night terrors that show the real meaning of pain because of the war. And Brigitte Eicke, a teenager in Germany during the war, shows how exactly it effected in life on a day to day basis and how much she was influenced by the Nazis. During World War II death lingered in the air and the world was going through hard times, a country had been brainwashed to believe lies and the world had not seen anything the true horrors of war yet. People were witnessing the Holocaust, persecution, racism on a global scale and nothing was being done to stop it. Because of things like The Book Thief, these ideas are being presented in a such a way that they shouldn 't be real. People all over the world try on a daily basis to get rid of things like genocide or persecution, but the only way to stop it is to educate the rest of the world that isn 't putting any effort into the cause. The world needs to change to start believing in a peaceful world and that will only happen if everyone takes a part in making the world a better place. I believe that the world has the potential to be a great place, but things like World War II and the Holocaust have proven me wrong. I think if we were ever going to live in a perfect world, we all have to start working together for peace. For world with no violence, a world with no crime, a place ridden of everything
World War Two was the most devastating conflict in the history of humanity. It crippled many nations and caused millions of people to die. One of the major causes of this disastrous war was the Treaty of Versailles which ended the First World War. This treaty was destructive towards the Germans. Germany had to pay large amounts of reparations to the Allied nations at the end of World War One resulting in a Great Depression in Germany. Additionally, the Treaty of Versailles’ war guilt clause forced Germans to admit full responsibility for starting the war. Furthermore, to gain the support of the German populace, Adolf Hitler adopted an effective propaganda campaign. Adolf Hitler employed a successful propaganda campaign to gain the support of the German people combined with the Treaty of Versailles harsh economic and political sanctions ignited World War Two.
The first World War is recorded down as one of the “deadliest conflict in human history”. With over 16 million dead, it was one of the first wars with a high amount of casualties. However, the one that tops the list with around 60 million deaths was World War II. What caused such a large scale war to happen in the first place? Seven and a half months after World War I, a treaty was signed between the victorious countries, Great Britain, France, United States, and Germany (Overview). It was created with the intention to create peace Europe and ensure that another war like World War I doesn’t happen again. However, the peace was short lived before the second World War engulfed Europe and the rest of the world in a brutal bloodshed. Instead of lasting peace, the Treaty of Versailles contributed greatly to the cause of World War II as it caused humiliation and anger within Germany. The pent up emotions eventually led to the rise of the Nazi Party and Adolf Hitler, who were angered by their loss in territory, military restrictions, economic reparations, and the war guilt clause.
Has evil always been around, or did man create it? One could trace evil all the way back to Adam and Eve; however, evil came to them, but it was not in them. When did evil become part of a person? No one knows, but evil has been around for a long time and unfortunately is discovered by everyone. In many great classics in literature evil is at the heart or the theme of the novel, including Harper Lee’s novel To Kill a Mockingbird. This classic book demonstrates the growing up of two children in the South and illustrates the theme of evil by showing how they discover, how they deal, and how they reconcile themselves to the evils they experience.
“In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility.” (Eleanor Roosevelt). This is just one of the infinite examples of how human nature has been explored by so many different people. Each and every human is born with the capability of making their own choices. The decisions that they will make in the future will determine how evil they are viewed by others. Although one’s nature and nurture do affect their life, it is their own free will that determines whether or not they are evil.
They refused to accept social changes in the treatment of African Americans. They continued to discriminate against them and did not want to give them a chance of becoming equal members of their society. Educated men like lawyers and doctors who had the knowledge of higher careers and who should have known right from wrong were part of the KKK. These were first-class men, who wanted to get rid of all African Americans. The mission didn’t seem wrong to them, so they continued to be part of the KKK. They attacked Abram Colby on the 29th of October because Grant was the candidate he voted for. When bribing Colby did not work for the KKK, they beat him up instead, which neither bribing nor beating is not the solution for the problem (Colby
People have constantly attempted to understand what evil truly is, and, if possible, how to eliminate this evil from their lives. However, first it must be known what it is that is being eliminated. Different people, cultures, and eras have all had a different view of what evil is, and how it affects their lives, and there is no true answer. Because of this, discussing the idea of whether people are born or can be evil is meaningless. The idea of what evil is, and whether people can be evil, is relative and cannot be applied to human nature in a universal way.
Every human is born with the potential to be inherently evil. Whether they choose this path or not depends on the influences of the outside world. We can see an example of how this is true from the book, Lord of the Flies by William Golding. Although all of the boys in the novel start out as innocent choirboys, they show their true form of evil when they are put in a dire situation. The boys no longer become friends to one another, instead they try to kill animals and even each other for the pure enjoyment of it. Humans are born evil and have the intent of doing violent and harmful things as evident by; the world’s history, violence as a source of entertainment, constant wars, and bullies, both cyber and physical.
Humanity’s innate cruelty results from scarcity as scarcity does not allow for everyone to have everything they want, thus people must make compromises which leads to conflict and thus cruelty towards other people. World War II remains in human history as the epitome of human conflict where all nations came together to fight over scarce resources, leading to several cruel stains in human history, including the Holocaust, The Rape of Nanking, and the bombing of Dresden, throughout World War I countless individuals lost their lives for the motivations of those who controlled the Ally and Axis countries. These lost lives were brushed away as a necessity of war and thus forgotten in the tides of time - all because of countries logically prioritizing
The KKK or Ku Klux Klan was an intimidating, yet important aspect during the 1920s. They were a violent group that affected much of America, by causing citizens to be fearful of change and manipulating with the government. Americans would join the KKK just because they were terrified of the change happening the the United States. At this time Americans was going through a dramatic transition. For this reason the KKK gained millions of new followers and began their destructive patterns towards certain groups. People wanted to join because propaganda showed them how powerful the KKK could be.
Are human beings born to be good? Or are we naturally born to be evil? A person’s nature or essence is a trait that is inherent and lasting in an individual. To be a good person is someone who thinks of others before themselves, shows kindness to one another, and makes good choices in life that can lead to a path of becoming a good moral person. To be a bad person rebels against something or someone thinking only of them and not caring about the consequences of their actions. Rousseau assumed, “that man is good by nature (as it is bequeathed to him), but good in a negative way: that is, he is not evil of his own accord and on purpose, but only in danger of being contaminated and corrupted by evil or inept guides and examples (Immanuel Kant 123).” In other words, the human is exposed to the depraved society by incompetent guardians or influences that is not of one’s free will in the view of the fact that it is passed on. My position is humans are not by nature evil. Instead, they are good but influenced by the environment and societies to act in evil ways to either harm others or themself.
