Schools around the world do not want to be viewed as a good graded school and want to be looked up to.So schools try to come up with a solution. Money can be spent on scholarships to those students who deserve it and on supplies needed around the school. Many school around are underprivileged and don't have the money to buy supplies needed in classes in the article it states “checks totaling $90,800 went to students”,this amount is too much to be giving away and it's crazy to do so.
Another reason cash for grades isn't a great idea it that it will increase conflict between the children. The students will start to brag and become jealous of each other because one of the students will have better grade than the other which means one has more money. This will start conflict between the students although this will decrease drop outs, low attendance, and horrible grades, but it will increase fights, and bullying. While this may be true I still disagree because teenagers may still be too immature to handle money.
The cash for grades program will have teenagers expecting money for every assignment they complete. The teenagers will not want to participate in a activity that does not reward, this is the third reason why I disagree. This Will have students more focused but in the long run they will start to work less and expect more rewards.Paying students at school will have them wanting to also be getting payed at home.Students in my opinion don't need to be rewarded at
“Beginning in 2007, his [Roland Fryer Jr.] project paid out $6.3 million to students in 261 urban schools...from low-income families” (Sandel 52). As a result, paying students for good grades has an impact on many people, not only students but teachers as well. Students should be paid for good grades because they will be able to save the money they earn for the future, it will motivate them to do well in school, and it will increase their scores on AP exams. With the money that students earn for their good grades, they can save it for their future. According to student Brett Upperman, “‘Kids need money so we can save it for college.
To begin, with, school should not pay students for good grades because they are constrained to earn good grades. Evidence from the NEA article claims, “Many teachers also say paying students for grades leads to practical problems in their classroom, including pressure to inflate grades.” This leads to kids trying to get good grades, which can cause stress because if they have one dreadful grade, they will worry a lot about not getting as much money. The effect of this is students will be distressed about grades that they won’t have any fun and won’t rest their brains. Clearly, students are pressured to earn good grades if they are getting
Students and education have a direct connection; if students are failing, then the educational system is going to decline. In order for the education system to prosper, the nation has to consider the needs of the students. This country consists of students that have a bright future ahead of them, but the only downfall is trying to get the students to their future. The Cash for Grades Program solves this issue by rewarding students for their grades, so that they will work very hard to be successful and fulfill their bright future. If America is the fastest growing economy in the world, then why is the education rank so low? America’s strengths should reflect the education that is offered, because this is the key factor that is associated with a top notch country. A country with prospering education has bright students that can lead the country to a better place.
Many high school students have a job that they go to after school which takes up their time that they could be using for homework and studying. If we were to pay these students for their good grades then they would no longer have the need for a job and could get even better grades and would even be able to take harder classes because of the extra time they would have to study and for homework. With the extra time that students would receive they could progress their education even
First of all students shouldn’t get paid for good grades, because it will give the students a lower academic performance in the long run. This information was found from Stanford Dornbush, the director of Stanford Center for youth Development. Stanford Dornbush stated, “Students who receive money for grades will, in the long run have lower academic performances.” This means if students receive money for good grades, then they will have a lower academic performance further on in their life. The effect of this is that the students will eventually have a lower academic performance in the long run.to sum it up, giving kids money for good grades will, in the long run, give kids a lower academic performance.
By paying them, they would learn many valuable lessons that will help them in the future. Students should be paid for good grades because it encourages them to work harder, it helps the economy and last but not least, it will allows students to gain more responsibility and would increase their self-esteem. Some responsibilities would include taking care of their own belongings and learning to spend money when it is only needed. Obviously, being paid for good grades will give a brighter future to students and they will always be confident in themselves at whatever they
The article “should kids be paid for good grades?” written by Amber Angel (2012), she discussed the disadvantages of should kids be paid for good grades. The author tone is philosophical and she supports the disadvantages because through the strategy which to reward students based on their result is not effective, it is only for a short period. It is not an effective motivator. Other than that, the students are being taught the wrong character that caused and confused themselves.
If students are to be paid for grades, it doesn’t give them their education which won’t help them in the future. According to Sanford Dornbush, “students who receive money for grades will in the long run, have lower academic performances than the students who
On Thursday, February 22nd, I conducted an interview with my father, Élie Courdi, about his experiences in primary and secondary school. Élie was born in Egypt but immigrated to Canada with his mother at five years of age, so he identifies primarily as a Quebecer from Egyptian origin. He is now 53 years old and speaks both English and French. He still understands Arabic, his maternal language, but does not speak it fluently anymore. The interview was conducted at our home in St-Bruno and he seemed interested in this opportunity to reflect back on his past schooling experience, although he had trouble remembering many details.
Students should be paid for having good grades. According to Psychology Today, the United States has fallen behind other nations in education. In addition to this, approximately one in four students in the U.S. drops out of school before graduation. The main reason for this is that students have little to no motivation. Students are either bored with school, or they are distracted by the other things that go on in their lives such as sports, jobs, friends and their own family life.
1.2 million students drop out if school every year or 7,000 every day or one student every 26 seconds. That’s almost the population of New Hampshire dropping out of school but that’s only in one year. Kids should be paid to have good grades at school, in low-income households. Some people will argue where will we get the money from to pay the kids.
People don’t work their hardest for no money, so why would students try their hardest in school for no reward except praise. Praise isn’t enough anymore now days. Students right now will be the running the world in about 6 short years. Students should get paid for good grades because it’s how it gonna be when they older you work hard and get work done you get paid. “Cash-for-grades programs may jump-start students’ motivation by providing real-world rewards for their effort and performance “ (greatschool staff).
One of the main reasons to paying students is that it might help the people that are having trouble stay in school. In the article “should you bribe your kids to get good grades”. In paragraph 13 it said that “it could be a way to get them a jump-start to get them to try a little bit harder”. Someday i do not want to come to school but if i knew i was going to get paid for grades i would be up here all day. Some schools or parents don't think kid or students should get paid. They think they should be able to do it without getting paid. But i still believe that whatever u have to do to keep your kids in school is a good idea. Paying student helps them stay in school.
In conclusion, students should be paid to do well in school because it has many benefits to the student. School is a big part of every person’s life, so it should be more rewarding to the
I believe that high school students should be paid for having good grades because Canada’s unemployment and dropout rate will decrease and its literacy rate will increase, students from low-income families will benefit, and Canada will have a renowned and reputable education system around the world. To begin, if high school students are paid for having good grades, Canada’s unemployment and dropout rate would decrease and its literacy rate would increase. A 2008 study conducted by the University Of Winnipeg stated that students naturally get better marks if provided with a persuasive motive such as free food, or gifts. Many high school students will naturally aim to get better marks in school if they are provided with a convincing reason; money . This will improve canada’s literacy rate making it one of the
