Movies. Music. Books. Three forms of entertainment and three things that help to bring people from all walks of life together. The beauty in the art of film, music, and books is something that is recognized across the world. I believe entertainment composes our world. Entertainment serves as a distraction to people and the realities of everyday life. Entertainment is universal which is one of the reasons that it composes our world. I have been lucky enough to be able to see these three elements bring people of all different cultures and backgrounds together. Working at a movie theater, I am really able to see how movies are important in the lives of many people. To see the emotions evoked from these films is something really amazing. I think the best example of how movies compose our world is what I saw at a movie premiere a …show more content…
They unite people on large and small scales around the world. For instance, on a small scale might be a simple book club where friends gather to discuss the journey they went on through their book. On a large scale it could be a social media post where people from different countries comment their thoughts and opinions on a novel. The largest example of how a book can strengthen the bond between humans all over the world is the Bible. Though I am not religious myself, I acknowledge the importance of the Bible not only in the United States but in other countries around the world. Even for people who do not use the Bible in their worship have similar books or spiritual texts. Books, similar to music, can be interpreted differently by every individual person who reads them. People’s personal experiences cause them to perceive things in different ways but each interpretation is what helps to compose our world. People are able to discuss their opinions and feelings which allows us to learn more about our friends, family, and people we just
The film Blow started off at the begging of George Jung’s life in Massachusetts where he and his parents lived. Life was great for George until his dad was not making enough money to support his family. Bankruptcy soon came and problems starts to show as his mother kept leaving and yelling at his dad who was trying his hardest working fourteen hours a day to support for the family. When George gotten old enough in 1968 he and his friend moved to California to move away from Massachusetts. In California is when George started doing drugs, because the locals were doing drugs all the time as if it was normal. There his first drug was crack and he inhaled the drug more than once a day every day. Then started to buy crack to sell to as many people
To put it simply, there is nothing more I would rather do than influence how people see good and the bad in our world, and to me there is only one medium for that, film.
If one were to look back into the world’s history, one would find that an important and consistent element is the world of music. Music has presented itself in various forms throughout its spread and through our identification of its magical realm, people have been fortunate enough to come across a means of relation. Whether it is blues and reggae or rap and pop rock, there is music out there for everyone. Music can serve as a stabilizer for some, a relaxant to others, and to many a form of inspiration.
The power of film is immense in modern American culture. The symbols and identity’s created in these films has proven to possess a lasting impact shaping in new cultures. Film has not failed to accomplish this using the motorcycle. Although a controversial image the motorcycle possesses a strong identity of freedom and brotherhood creating an individual counterculture. The freedom represented by the motorcycle contradicts previous connotations and transforms our definition of freedom. The motorcycle also provides a cultural identity of rebellion and brotherhood. Film has contributed greatly to creation of the motorcycle identity and has not failed to capitalize on the power symbolism the motorcycle represents. In many cases film created the motorcycle image we think of today.

Films are able to draw spectators towards the film as they are able to engage with certain elements featured in the film. Such elements include relating to the character and their lives and relating to props and settings presented in the mise en scene. If a spectator was to see a movie that contains elements he or she is able to relate to, that same person would engage with the film even more thus enhancing the experience of such viewers. Personally, my experience of films elevates when I can relate to some of the elements that emulate reality. There are several versions of art that emulate reality in their pieces (examples include paintings, theatre, literature,
Images themselves are not enough to carry enough the full information from the plot of a movie. Sound and music add meaning to the story, and enhance the viewers’ enjoyment from the film. The use of sound and music in films has benefited the film industry greatly, as it was one of the revolutionary stepping stones where film became more than an art form, and transcended into a global business. They carry the narrative from one scene to the other, until the very end of the movie; in the mean time helping editors to edit the film seamlessly, allowing the audience to lose themselves in the plot and become a part of it. It is proven that music affects the audience members’ perception of the plot, by subtly working on the unconscious mind and reflecting emotions, basically by telling the viewer how to feel about a certain scene, action, or character.

By relating to a person’s identity, thoroughly representing them, artists of many different medias are then able to change the viewpoint of their audience to share their own beliefs or at least see their side of the argument. Pop culture can be helpful him bringing people together, “The first and most rudimentary effect of pop culture is how it builds and strengthens interactions with people... Censorship involves the restriction of material that the government believes may be harmful to society. However, censorship in film is controversial because it can either create safe boundaries for movies or hinder the film industry’s freedom. Those who support censorship believe that it prohibits unnecessarily explicit content from being freely shown in films. Those who are against censorship believe that censorship conflicts with constitutional freedom and can be used as a tool for manipulation. Although, both sides of the argument have valid points, censorship should not apply to films at any extent because it impedes societal progress.
There are movies that make you cry. And then there are movies that bring up a smile. Movies that take you on a flight of emotions. And movies that inspire your life. Movies have the ability to shape your dreams.

The importance of film music is considered a jewel for manipulating the viewer’s emotions and immerses them into the movie. Music is one of the most important elements in film, for it capabilities and versatility of telling a story independently without picture.
Movies take us inside the skin of people quite different from ourselves and to places different from our routine surroundings. As humans, we always seek enlargement of our being and wanted to be more than ourselves. Each one of us, by nature, sees the world with a perspective and selectivity different from others. But, we want to see the world through other’s eyes; imagine with other’s imaginations; feel with other’s hearts, at a same time as with our own. Movies offer us a window onto the wider world, broadening our perspective and opening our eyes to new wonders.
When I was still in high school, I took a class that I was very curious about. That class was called “Media Arts”, and it was focused, not only on learning about the movements some of the greatest films have had an impact across the globe, but also learned how to make movies. This really inspired me to pursue film in college. As a college student majoring in theatre while focusing on film, I was exposed to many filmmakers from different countries and different backgrounds, telling their stories from their own perspective. As a person that pursues his dreams of being a screenwriter, a director, and an actor, one of the filmmakers that has had an influence on me has been Woody Allen.
Also, music plays an important role in culture by being entertaining. Let's face it; people listen to music because it's exciting! It can affect a person's thoughts and feelings towards a particular subject, but not ultimately change their mind, which is what makes it so pleasurable. What else would put life in the world if music didn't? Music provides background music for almost everything in a person's everyday life. Try to imagine what television would be like without music. There would be no catchy jingles to stupid commercials that would end up getting stuck in your head for days and no theme songs to your favorite shows. Even a movie without sound would make you not want to watch it. Whether you think so or not, a soundtrack to a movie makes a person emote to the screenplay more- it makes you feel what the actors are feeling. That is what makes it so entertaining! If there were no songs to a movie, you might as well just not watch it at all. And what about a cell phone? How would you know when to pick up your phone if you didn't hear it ring your favorite song? Hearing that ring tone on a phone provides a small source of entertainment, but also serves a very important purpose.
