Why Do Feminist Hate Men And Reject Femininity

“Feminist hate men and reject femininity.” This is a very common myth regarding feminism. Many individuals believe that feminist hate men and push to be the top sex. This is not true but rather femininity pushes for equality. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, feminism is “the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes and an organized activity on behalf of women's rights and interests” (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/feminism). Woman want to not take power from men but rather show that they are powerful and is a woman. They can do the same tasks as a man and do them successfully.

There is going to be a few assumptions that feminist are woman that don’t wear makeup, tight, promiscuous clothing,

shave, or have relations with men. This may be true for a few extreme feminists but for the most part this is not true. Feminists come in all shapes and forms. In the early 20th century, feminist was a concept that was not widely accepted. This was because of the thought that feminist were trying to take away the typical female gender norm. This is that woman are pretty, wear dresses, do their makeup, are the main child care provider, have long hair, dependent, and more. Genders are put on a spectrum. On one side there is a more feminine approach and the other, more masculine. “The attitudes and expectations surrounding gender roles are typically based not on any inherent or natural gender differences, but on stereotypes about the attitudes, traits, or behavior patterns of women or men.” (https://courses.lumenlearning.com/boundless-psychology/chapter/gender/). Woman used to believe that if they associated themselves with femininity that they would not be looked at as feminine anymore. This scared women because they only heard about the extremist and thought “this is not me.”
Gender roles have changed over the past few years when pertaining to childcare and who the ‘breadwinner’ is. In the past, women used to be the main childcare provider and men worked and brought home the most money. In today’s society, you are starting to see more-and-more stay at home dads and more full time working moms bringing home more money than their husbands. In my opinion, this is a positive change in proving what feminists stand for; equality. With giving the father the opportunity to be a stay at home and the mother the opportunity to work full time, this shows that women can do exactly what men can do successfully and provide for their families.
