Why is diversity important to an organization? I believe diversity is important to an organization because it provides them with a unique dimension of examining arising concerns with more creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills in order to achieve their objectives. This is a critical asset and the major component diverse people bring to the table are their backgrounds and experiences. Every person is raised differently based on a variety of factors and have partaken in distinct experiences that have had some sort of impact on shaping a person’s way of thinking. I am currently pursuing an accounting and finance double major with the aspirations of becoming a CPA. While I may be thoroughly enjoying what I am learning in my college classes, I understand real world applications are different and there are numerous careers within the field of finance. I believe this a prestigious opportunity for me to discover and explore these different careers through a hands-on experience. Furthermore, I believe this is a way in which I can test and improve my team working skills, as well as my professionalism. I would like to translate the teamwork skills I have developed through my contribution to my college soccer team into practical use in a professional setting. Moreover, one of the biggest things I look forward to developing and improving on is my professional etiquette through putting my current skills into practice and observing others around me. Lastly, I am interested in hearing other people’s stories, as each one is unique and quite interesting to me because I can learn at least one thing from each person.
