Why did I decide to study psychology? I have relatively been inquisitive why or how people behave the way they do, and they are, therefore, it always came out of the idea that I might help people. I wish to understand myself. I really enjoy what I am studying and what I feel is to do my best and consider if I made the ideal decision that I took. We act thoughtfully as an instinct by putting a lot of our energy on attempting to resolve other people’s problems and injustice, so, we truly often fail to take care of ourselves. We emphasize so much in problems and think about our future, that as a result, we become extremely sensitive.
Taking into consideration, I think I figured out an answer to my internal disagreements. I study psychology to

Choosing a career path was not easy. I wanted to be able to do so many task that did not fit into certain criteria. My main goal in life is to be able to help those that need support. Getting a psychology degree was a leverage because I could get my degree in this field and use it to help others out. I wanted to be a psychodynamic therapist when I started classes, but after finding out there are more career paths available, I decided to enter the work force of being a victim advocate.
The practice of researching human behavior, which dates back to most ancient civilizations, has become better understood and more effective over time. This research led to modern psychology and has become increasingly broad since the first notion that one person could observe and measure the reasoning behind another person’s actions. Researchers in the field can study psychology as a whole or one of the various sub-disciplines that psychology breaks down into. These sub-disciplines range from the psychology of learning to fringe theoretical psychology. The men and women who conduct studies in the psychological field, referred to as psychologists, continue research in their sub-disciplines to add to the knowledge of the community. Psychologists focus on the study of the mind while clinicians treat individuals that suffer from psychological disorders. Now that I have covered psychology’s growth, I will move on to the ways that psychology currently impacts the world.

I observe people around me and try to as well understand their actions and why they react the way they do in certain situations. The more I realized that I like to help people with their problems, the more I realized that I was in the right field to help people understand their own life better. I don’t always have the answers but, I do what it takes to understand a situation more so that I am able to get the answers. I believe that my purpose is to help people understand their life a little better and speak great over their lives. I would mostly like to help children out so that I am able to help them understand their feelings. Children are usually more vulnerable than anyone else in the world. Becoming a practitioner scholar in this field means learning about different mental illness so that I am better prepared when I encounter different patients. I took and abnormal psychology class where we briefly went over each mental disorder but I would like to be able to go more in depth. During my time in this class we did several case studies, where I learned to diagnose different clients and give possible treatments. I would like to go beyond this method and learn more as I get more into clinical psychology. Also I would like to indulge more in
While taking psychology this past few months I have realized why I am who I am. I finally learned why I bite my finger nails and chew on things that probably are not good for my teeth. I also learned why I can take things that people might tell them and better myself, but others may cry. When I was younger I had a hard time regulating my emotions which lead to me externalizing my problem. This lead to me always playing rough. Most girls do not play this way, but this actually helped release my anger in a positive way. I also developed a resilience to stress, during times I find myself stressed out. I am finally why I am who I am because of the parenting style my parents used when I was younger. Most people wonder why they are who they are and
For my psychology interview assignment, I had the privilege of interviewing Elaine, who is the Director of Preschool X, which is an educational institution. She reports that she has been in this position for 13 years since its inception. Elaine is a close friend of my aunt, which was how I was able to meet her. She explained that her responsibilities include; the hiring of all personnel related to the school, submission of criminal background checks, the medical reports for all staff and children must be current, and also developed a curriculum for the teachers to execute. She has parent meetings and she deals with parents on a daily basis. For any arising issues, Elaine conferences with parents at least once or twice a week. Have weekly staff meetings regarding the curriculum. She also plays the role as the educational event coordinator, where she would “invite people from the dinosaur museum or alley pond park to come over to her preschool, to enrich the children”.
Interacting with my professors as a teacher's assistant and research assistant gave me a chance to discover at a more personal level what psychology is all about. Although I am seeking a M.A. in General Psychology at this time, I do have specific goals for my future. I hope to continue my education past the M.A. and receive a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, counseling individuals and eventually acquiring a teaching position with a college or university.
My first semester in college, I took a Psychology 101 course and immediately knew I wanted to work in this field. I was drawn into different theories and how individual’s minds work. I always believed I was born to help others and guide them to success in life. I desire to help others because of my own personal struggles with mental illness. My unique perspective on mental illness allows me to empathize on a different level with individuals. I desire to give back and support to the community the way it was there for me during my dark times. I was lucky to have known from the start that psychology was my interest. I am excited to continue my education in the counseling field and become a future Clinical Mental Health Counselor.
Psychology is the scientific study of the mind, brain, and behavior. In psychology, and all of the other sciences, relying on opinions is abandoned in order to find out which explanations best fit the evidence or data given. Science continually forces us to question our findings and conclusions. Over time, psychology has advanced greatly and a main reason for such progressiveness is because of the change in the research model used.
To what extent if any has your knowledge of psychology helped you to understand other people and grow as a person?
My motivation is based on two things. Firstly, I really want to help other people as much as I can. The understanding of human behaviour is the key for me to help others improve their well-being. This made me start seeking for information and experiences beyond the university’s classes and books. There was 30 hours of supervised Clinical Child Psychology Practice, where I was shadowing a professional psychologist at an Educational Consultancy. I really liked my time there and I felt like I could not have chosen any other career. In 2014 I joined a foundation where we were developing autistic children’s social skills and perceptions with movements and exercises. In these months I saw different children with different disabilities. It was
In summer 2005, my mother decided to take my siblings and I on vacation. "We’re going to Mexico!” She said. My siblings and I felt ecstatic because it was our first time visiting Mexico. Unfortunately, my vacation didn 't turn out as great as expected. I witnessed an awful situation the time I was there. One night, my cousins and I were playing loteria at my grandmother 's house. Loteria is the Hispanic version of bingo. We were having a great time until we heard loud noises outside. My cousin and I went outside to see what the whole fuss was about. We saw a group of gang bangers fighting in the middle of the street. Punches were thrown left and right, but eventually one of the gang bangers brought out a knife. He slit one their throats and
