Recommended: Why first world war was inevitable

WWII broke out in 1939 and was a war between Germany and Britain.
In this essay I will look at why WWII started. There are a number of reasons why WWII broke out including Adolf Hitler Hitler's aggressive actions, challenging the Treaty of Versailles and the Failure of Appeasement.

One reason why WWII broke out was because of Adolf Hitler's aggressive actions. When Hitler came to power in 1933, he had made his aims extremely clear in his book (Mein Kampf-My Struggle) which he wrote 9 years before.
The reason why he is responsible for the outbreak of WWII is because Hitler clearly stated in his book that he wanted to destroy the Treaty of Versailles, create a Greater Germany, which meant a space where all Germans were welcome, and to conquer …show more content…

Czechoslovakia previously owned Sudetenland (Czechoslovakia wasn't invited to this agreement) so they were furious and protested about the loss of their owned country. They felt secluded by both Britain and France (who they had been alliances with). Nevertheless, this agreement had been viewed as an accomplishment rather than a negative action. People were pleased because it was an outstanding example of having peace through negotiation rather than a war.
Unfortunately, Germany invaded Czechoslovakia due to the fact that they had been asking for appease with Hitler as Czechoslovakia wanted Sudetenland back. This meant that Hitler broke the Munich Agreement and was lying at the Munich conference. In addition, this showed that Hitler couldn't be trusted and Chamberlain assumed that WW2 could start because Hitler already invaded Czechoslovakia and could move to any other country. Britain knew that Germany were going to invade Poland so Chamberlain threatened to defend Poland in case Hitler went through with the invasion.
This was a short term factor because it was 1938 when the Munich Agreement was signed but a year later WW2 started.

Conclusion
Overall the most important cause of WWII was the Failure of Appeasement. This is because after Poland was invaded by Germany, the war started and lasted 6 years until Germany surrendered and Britain
