Islam spread so quickly because of a glut of skilled military manpower and the exhaustion of the Byzantine and Sassanid Empires. If Islamic people had a skilled military with a lot of manpower that could easily take down an empire in a heartbeat. The Byzantine and Sassanid Empires would also get too tired. They wouldn’t want to keep fighting, that would bring down their numbers in their armies.
The first reason that Islam spread so quickly was trade. They would spread it by talking to other people about what they have heard. Mecca was a big trading center. If other people heard about the trade that would automatically get them to start thinking about how many different things the citizens could acquire. It meant that if they had a strong community that was safe more people would join their religion. For example, “Whoever killed a human being, except as punishment for murder or other villainy..., shall be deemed as killing all mankind; and... whoever saved a human life shall be deemed as saving all mankind.” This meant that people in the community who saved a life would be praised for saving it, but if they killed a life then they would be severely punished. Another example says “...the ghazu, but Islam had put a stop to this because the ummah was not permitted to attack one another... series of ghazu raids against the non-Muslim communities in the neighboring countries.” This meant that people would be protected from each other and would be getting resources from other countries to support their own. The third reason Islam spread so quickly was protection. The belief in Islam offered protection. Everyone wanted to be protected so people converted Islam for protection. For example, “To defend the lands of Islam and to protect them from intrusion so that people may earn their livelihood and travel at will without danger to life or property.” This example tells
