Many people ask themselves if downloading music, photocopying other peoples work is good for other people. Well I say that downloading music is unethical and should not be done because you may never know what will happen if you download a music or a picture in the internet. There are many rules for downloading music in the internet, that you could be fined for or go to jail for not asking permission to download.
There are teenagers that download more than 200 songs on their MP3 players, IPod, or their cell phones. Do they know what is a copyright? A copyright is a form of legal protection automatically provided to the authors of original works of authorship(what is copyright?). People would ask why do copyright exist. Copyright law exists in the U.S because it is a constitutional right(Why does copyright laws exist?) This is why people should follow the copyright laws for downloading things.
People ignore copyright laws in order to get their favorite song for free in the internet. Why do people ignore copyright laws? They ignore copyright laws because there are many new products that makes it for you so easy to ignore the copyright laws(The future of copyright). There is a rule under downloading music and it’s the no Electronic Theft Act Form(What is a rule for downloading music?). There are some sort of consequences that happen to those who break the rules. Some consequences are that offenders can be fined up as $150,000 per illegally copied songs or up to one year in jail( ). This is why we should be careful with downloading things on the internet and we have to follow all those rules that state in the website
