College students deserve to be making money for playing sports. However, people think that they already get rewarded with education, but that is not enough. They deserve to be rewarded, because these students put a lot of their time and hard work into these sports. The schools and sports organizations should not be making a profit, while getting their services free of charge.
“They deserve to be paid. They deserve more. They deserve better.” (Jake McDonough) This quote is an example of how many people are rooting for college students to get paid. McDonough was a previous college player who only had fifty dollars per month for food and gas, because he wasn’t able to hold a steady job. Even though he really needed the money, he was too busy with college work and playing on the college football team.

This reward is not enough for the physical and mental pain that the players go through. Another reason why people object with college students being paid is because they think that playing on a college team is already a privilege. This is a good point, but if someone has put more than 40 hours per week for sports and 50 hours a week for school, then this sport should count as a job. Playing a sport in college is like doing 40 hours of job per week. Lastly, people also believe that it sends a bad message to the world by paying them. It actually would cause more students to take up sports in college.
College students should get paid when they play, because of their hardwork and determination. The schools benefit from the students and should compensate them for participating in a sport where they give up so much of their lives. The college sports organizations should also share their wealth and stop taking advantage of these talented individuals. I really hope one day that everyone stands up for the welfare of college
