When some books are preferred by the United States of America society they look for ways to get what they want. "Great Literature They Did Not Want Us to Read" (Ryan). So using all means to get what they want increases crime.
When some books are banned for racism, it would result to decrease in crime rate in the United States of America society, it is because many individuals would want to fight for their ethnicity and culture. Also, when books are banned from age group it would affect life message that are to be taught. When books are banned for Religion point of view, it would decrease the crime rate and it is because individuals would want to protect their religion. So all this causes leads to effects.
There are various causes and effect leading books to be banned due to various reasons. For a book to be banned it is decided by the United States of America society. Banning books is a way of censorship meaning a way of removing things that would cause harm to the United States of America society. To make the United States of America society safe from books that are not good for the United States of America society books are
There are multiple reasons why a book can be banned or challenged. Book banning causes the removal of materials in schools and libraries due to “inappropriate” content. The Lovely Bones, by Alice Sebold, was banned due to sexual content and language.
This dystopian society destroys books, but many people in the dystopian society still don't see that. The banning of books causes many people to lose their minds and do what they're told, which leads to violence. Banning books also brings sadness into the world because they don't know many things which will less prepare them for life. In this case, people in the dystopian society absolutely despise books, but in reality, we need books. Their rule of no books completely changed the perspective of people in this dystopian society into an unstable society lacking knowledge.
Books that have shaped America are slowly starting to disappear. Many of the previous social norms have fallen out of fashion, and because of this reason numerous books are beginning to become banned. Blasphemy, racism, sex, and violence are all ethical reasons for books to be censored.
This shows that books are clearly bad in their society, and leads to your house burning down. These books are illegal because they cause disagreements and lead to people being unhappy, Beatty explains it like this, “Colored people don't like Little Black Sambo. Burn it. White people don’t feel good about Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Burn it … Serenity, Montag. Peace, Montag” (57). According to Beatty books make people unhappy so they are burned, and are illegal, the government doesn't want anyone being unhappy, so they don't let people read and get ideas. Beatty also says, “A book is a loaded gun … who knows who might be the target of a well read man” (56). This shows that the government is scared of people who read, they are scared that their ‘perfect’ world might get messed
Imagine a world of uniformity. All people look the same, act the same, and love the same things. There are no original thoughts and no opposing viewpoints. This sort of world is not far from reality. Uniformity in modern day society is caused by the banning of books. The novel "Fahrenheit 451" illustrates a future in which the banning of books has risen to the extent that no books are allowed. The novel follows the social and moral implications of an over censored society. Even though the plot may seem far-fetched, themes from this book are still relevant today. Although some people believe that banning a book is necessary to defend their religion, the negative effects caused by censorship and the redaction of individual thought are reasons why books such as "Fahrenheit 451" should not be banned.
The government believes it is much easier to control a society full of dumb people, so they put up an law to restrict books from the public. “We must all be alike. Not everyone born free and equal, as the constitution says, but everyone made equal... A book is a loaded gun in the house next door. Burn it. Take the shot from the weapon. Breach man’s mind”. Books are dangerous, not because they physically are, but because of the knowledge they contain can bring about any opponent. Ideas and knowledge makes people question how things are, and allows them to see all the problems within this corrupted
...even the books themselves. But the main factor in the decline of books was the censorship by special interest or minority groups who constantly wanted to ban books that they found offensive.
What is a banned book? A banned book is a book that has been removed from the shelves; it could be from a library, classroom, or even the bookstore because of its content. A book could be banned for many reasons, but it could be banned because it contains sex, violence, inappropriate language, religious viewpoints, witch craft, and many more things because other people deem it inappropriate. When someone bans a book they ban it for everyone else too.
Foerstel, Herbert N. Banned in the U.S.A.: a Reference Guide to Book Censorship in Schools and Public Libraries. Westport, CT: Greenwood, 1994. Print.
Countries worldwide actively call for the banning of books that are found to be politically inconvenient, religiously awkward, or embarrassing in one form or another. But for writers like Russia's Vasily Grossman, a book's ban means far more than just a dip in sales. In 1961, he pleaded with the Soviet censors, "I am physically free, but the book to which I have dedicated my life is in jail." (Merkelson). A book represents an idea, thus limiting access to a book is banning the representation of an idea. The banning of books in American schools should not be allowed, because banning books will prevent students from learning the reason for the controversy and alternate viewpoints they can come to on their own.
Banning Books “It’s not just the books under fire now that worry me. It is the books that will never be written, the books that will never be read. And all due to the fear of censorship. As always, young readers will be the real losers” (Blume 1999). Judy Blume can not explain the problem of book censorship any clearer.
Books are banned for many reasons but more times than not it is because of the sensitive information found within the novel that agitates the reader. As long as people have been able to develop their own opinions, others have sought to prevent them from sharing. At some point in time, every idea has ultimately become objectionable to someone. The most frequently challenged and most visible targets of such objection are the very books found in classrooms and public libraries. These controversial novels teach lessons that sometimes can be very sensitive to some but there is much more to challenged books than a controversial topic. What lies within these pages is a wealth of knowledge, such as new perspectives for readers, twisting plots, and expressions that are found nowhere else. For example, To Kill A Mockingbird, contains references to rape, racial content, and profanity that have caused many to challenge the novel in the first place. The book was banned from countless
But they don't know that by reading it they are "indulging in sinful and Godless acts" or that these books are putting them on the fastest train to Hell. I own A Clockwork Orange, Lord of the Flies, To Kill a Mockingbird, Twelfth Night, and Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary, all of which have been or are banned. When researching for this argument essay I found an article written by Rebecca Hagelin.
