Why do I want to attend Virginia State University? This question has been on my mind for a while with me considering what colleges I would like to attend. Choosing a college is to attend is a one of the most important decisions you will make in your young life. When considering colleges, I take into account of what I would like to major in, what extracurricular activities I would like to participate in and affordability.
I believe that Virginia state university will exceed my expectations for a University. If I were to attend VSU, I would like to major in music education, as I do have a really big passion for playing my instrument. For the past few months, I have really been considering what I really want to do with my life and being a music major seems to be the only thing truly that makes sense. Throughout high school I marched in the band at my high school and would like to continue my marching career through college. With VSU being so close to my high school, we would often receive help from members of Trojan Explosion and other members of the music department. I love the drive for precision and the feeling of “one big family” that the Trojan Explosion Evokes. While at VSU I do plan on participating in other musical ensembles and music related organizations on campus.
The final reason I would like to attend Virginia State University is because of the affordability of the school. Money is a huge factor when considering a university. When factoring in all of the money it would take to get the degree of my choice VSU always came up as the cheaper option because I would pay instate tuition, it’s close to home so I have the option of commuting to school and finally, the school and the schools music department offers various scholarship
