There are two sides on the issue are pro athletes overpaid. Many people agree with the statement that pro athletes overpaid but some think they're not getting paid enough. It goes many different ways. One of the main reasons people think athletes are overpaid is because they get paid $25,000 a game so they can make the average Us salary in two games. But what it doesn't show to the public are the hours of waiting in airports and weight training all day to prepare for the game. People also don’t know the danger of playing baseball because the players have a huge risk of being hit either from a pitch coming at them 150mph off of a baseball bat at them or having a guy that's 6”6 250lbs running at you full speed on a football field. Some
reasons why pro athletes are not overpaid is because they risk serious injury. They are also huge role models to kids everywhere. Athletes that play football risk getting a concussion and getting brain damage. Pro baseball players have 150 games a year at minimum so that's 75 traveling games where there waiting in airports. Those are the risks athletes take when playing the game. Some reasons pro athletes are overpaid is because they only entertain people. That money could go to other things like doctors to learn new medical treatment. Or soldiers who risk their lives day by day. We could invest money in the military so it becomes safer and more efficient. Plus some just sit on a bench and do nothing why are second string players getting paid so much too just sit there and watch. Those are the things I came up with too the two sided debate, I personally believe they are getting paid just the right amount.
When asked “Are elite sports people overpaid?” people have varied responses. Some people would agree with this and say ‘why should a person that hits or kicks a ball be paid as much as someone who saves lives or teaches children everyday? But on the other hand some would disagree and say that sports people are paid for their skills just like everybody else! These are both very good arguments.
Many people in today’s world complain about how much Pro Athletes get pay. So I ask are Pro athletes overpaid? Look at it in this sense; they are living their dreams just like most business men do everyday. If you think that professional sports is not a job then just try to walk in the shoes of a athlete for a day. Sports, like medicine, healthcare, or software, are a business. In that business, owners pay their players what they deem they are worth.
As a fan of basketball, the NBA has always been the center of every discussion I partake whenever basketball is involved. Since its inception in the late 70s and the popularity of the American National Basketball Association, basketball has been cemented as one of the most iconic games played today. Whether a fan or enthusiast watches the game live or on replay, the high-voltage intensity and addicting thrill of every turnover and every score made just makes the person go wild. Of course in every game, some people often wonder how much money the players have in each season. I am one of those people who often think about how wealthy these players are and the more I see advertisements and high profile appearances these players partake, the question just keeps on popping up in my head. Reading through discussion boards, articles and even editorial papers about the issue, I have found this to be an interesting topic to discuss and with these sources in mind, this will be my foundation for this topic. In this paper, I intend to prove through an intimate discussion and debate that the players of the NBA are overpaid with regards to how much their salary and contracts are worth.
Do athletes get overpaid? Is it fair that the average NFL player gets paid 1.9 million dollars a year while the average heart surgeon gets paid 533 thousand dollars annually? I think that professional athletes don’t get paid too much. There are multiple reasons that proves that their pay is not excessive. Their careers are short, they risk their body for our entertainment, and they motivate children.
Professional athletes have been paid to play a variety of sports in over the past hundred and fifty years. Most players can manage perfectly playing the sport they love while being paid over what an average government worker (policeman, fireman, and teacher), instead they are paid massive paychecks that many people would only dream of having. The salaries of professional athletes have drastically increased ten-fold in the past 50 years and show that they earn vast amount of wealth, which in most opinions can be absurd. Athletes are paid too much for doing as little as playing the game they love to play. Having athletes being paid 5 times the income of an average household (Block) is outrageous and should be lowered.
Do you think professional athletes are overpaid? You might think they earn more than what they are worth for playing half a year, but athletes have many things which contribute to their salary. Some of these things include their earnings from endorsements, ticket sales, performance, merchandise, their social contributions, and TV ratings. Although there are many factors that contribute to their salary, professional athletes may be overpaid because as a society, we contribute to their success. So, in the end, part of the athlete’s salary comes from the people who support the sports in the first place. These are just some of the reasons why athletes are paid so much money.
The salary of professional athletes are always being debated on whether they make too much or it 's the right amount they should make. Some of the athletes do make millions and millions of dollars, but there is some that don 't. Anyways in order to make the millions first an athletes must make it to the professional level. For example in soccer only 1.4% of people actually make it to the professional level. So the rest of the people make it for other sports such as football, basketball, baseball, and others. To be considered a professional athlete you must be getting payed to play a sport. They will be playing for a league and even tournaments and get rewarded with more money if they win. Some may think an athlete
Marriage in the United States is thought to be a very important event because it is the celebration of two people professing their love for each other, and vowing to be with one another for the rest of their lives. Although each person vows that they will support each other no matter the situation, sometimes that are certain obstacles that will pull two people apart. In Chosen Place, Timeless People by Paul Marshall, Running in the Family by Michael Ondaatje, and King Lear by William Shakespeare, it is shown that although marriage is often seen as a sacred thing, sometimes marriage is not as solid as everyone may think it is, and that it may actually break very easily. Marriage connects two people together, but it may not last forever.
I think that national athletes get paid too much because when they play one game they get paid close to 100 grand and that is what an average person makes a year. Which is a lot of money and that could buy a small town house and they make that a week. Witch makes it so that we are paying them with our tax money. This can cause confusion all around which is kind of annoying. This is also a couple things I found on the sites. Your average professional player earns between $1.54 and $5.3 million per year across all four major U.S.
The salary of professional athletes is absurd. Though they work hard and offer themselves fully to a “family”, it doesn’t make sense for these specialists who are proficient in sports to receive that massive of an amount of income. Do they really deserve all that money? Even if they’ve had a bad game; the earnings they receive is still more than the president. How would you like coming home with millions for playing a game you love? It’d be pretty great if I say so myself. Professional athletes are getting paid way too much.
Michael Jordan. Dr. Cedarbaum. Mahatma Gandhi. What do these three men have in bourgeois? They are all people who made a huge burden on people’s lives. How much do they each make? Michael Jordan, a former professional basketball player, made millions and millions every year. Dr. Cedarbaum, a local pediatrician, makes thousands per year. Mahatma Gandhi, a peace enthusiast, made no salary. Is this civil? Should athletes be paid this amplitude? Should doctors be paid this meager? It is for this reason that some people think professional athletes are paid too much. However, for many reasons, the truth is that athletes are not overpaid.
“ Professional sports are physically demanding and sometimes downright dangerous, says Doug Glanville, an ESPN analyst and former MLB outfielder. A serious injury can end a player's career he says, so athletes are paid fairly.
Are professional athletes’ salaries too high? Currently, professional athletes earn millions of dollars each year. In the eyes of the world, one might argue that an athlete’s salary is both well-earned and deserved. However, dissenters have a different opinion. These salaries need to be lowered for many specific reasons.
In today’s society many will argue whether or not professional athletes are overpaid. In the present time athletes are being paid phenomenally large amounts of money for their entertainment. It is my claim that all professional athletes are overpaid because they do not offer society an essential function that improves or enhances our world in comparison to other professionals such as medical doctors, lawyers, and teachers. Society does not value entertainment enough to warrant such high salaries such as those of many professional athletes. There is no reason that these athletes should demand these tremendous amounts of money. This is why you have to put into question their reasoning for demanding such high salaries.
In today’s society, professional athletes do get paid a lot of money for what they do for their career. They do work hard and deserve an average amount of salary like other professions. Professional athletes are getting overpaid in society the wages are usually based on the values of one work. Athletes like Messi, Ronaldo, and LeBron James should donate money to orphanage people. If athletes donate their money to give it to education, healthcare, charities their respect for their country and people would increase. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s even gets paid lower amount of money than the athletes in Canada or outside of Canada. A profession like lawyers which are in high demand and are very skilled but does not get paid million dollars
