Would you die for someone you really love? Would you hesitate to save one of your loved ones from danger? Well there are two people who would, and that is Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet is written by William Shakespeare. In this play, love at first sight occurs, and the two lovers of two different families that have hatred towards each other for many generations, have to go through many obstacles, in order for them to be together. The two star crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, go through a horrible death to be together. Who was responsible for the death of both, Romeo and Juliet? Was it themselves or someone else? The three characters who are most responsible for the tragic ending of the play are Mr. Capulet, the Friar, and Tybalt.

Capulet. Juliet's father had already chosen Paris to marry her. But then Romeo showed up in her life. With Paris being juliet’s future husband the had to meet each other. Mr. Capulet purposed to throw a masquerade party for them to spend time together. Everyone in Verona was invited about the party, well everyone who was not in the Montague household. Somehow Romeo and Benvolio got informed about the Capulet party and decided to go. Romeo went for one reason and that was to get Rosaline off of his mind. That is when both Romeo and Juliet fell in love, but before that ever happened Tybalt saw Romeo and was going to kick him out, “Uncle, this is a Montague, our foe, a villain that is hither come in spite. To scorn at our solemnity this night.” (Act 1, scene 5) But Mr. Capulet stopped Tybalt from fighting Romeo. So if Mr. Capulet would of let Tybalt have Romeo leave the party, Juliet would’ve known Romeo was a Montague, and never would of married Romeo. She would have married Paris. He had a lot of responsibility for the death. The Friar was the one who married Romeo and Juliet. The only reason why he married them was because he knew both families had hatred towards each other for generations and generations. The Friar thought the if the two married, that the families would be forced to get along. “ ...for this alliance may so happy prove, to turn your households’ rancor to pure love.” (Act 2, scene 3) He first doubted that they were not in love, but the idea of the two households getting along had him marry them. Another reason why the Friar was responsible for the death was because he had Romeo sneak into Juliet’s room for their honeymoon. He should have just made Romeo leave when the Prince said he was banished from Verona. When the Friar heard that Juliet did not want to marry Paris, he gave her a potion that makes her go to a long sleep, which makes it seem like she is dead. Juliet drank the potion the day she was going to marry Paris. Before she did that, the Friar said he would write a letter to Romeo saying she was not dead. The letter never got to Romeo, instead he heard that Juliet was really dead. “ I saw her laid low in her kindred’s vault, and presently took post to tell you.
