Twelve peoples lives were going to change in the matter of maybe a day or a month, even a year, nobody knew who did it, until now. New Orleans was your average town in 1918. They all lived in a small town so everyone knew each other. But now they would all become suspicious of each other. Joseph and Catherine Maggio were your average couple, they were very sweet, but had their disagreements here and there(compound). They were social people they didn’t get into fights with other people, they had no enemies. Louis Besumer, a store owner, a very social person, loved helping people(appositive). Everyone loved Mr. Besumer. Who would have killed Mr. Besumer? Harriet Lowe was also a very nice lady. When she went nobody had any idea who would kill her. Mrs. Schneider, poor poor Mrs. Schneider, she was eight weeks pregnant with her baby, she …show more content…
Besumer was in the back of his store along with Mrs. Lowe, he store was not yet opened, but it looked like he had a customer(compound). Mr. Besumer was stuck with a hatchet near his right temple.(Gibson) This also resulted with a skull fracture. Harriet Lowe was also attacked by the hatchet, they both were unconscious when the police arrived, they were then taken to the charity hospital. Mrs. Lowe died during a failed surgery. The hatchet was one of Mr. Besumer’s so the police questioned him for this murder. But did he really do it? Early morning, August 5, 1918, Mrs. Schneider was woken up by a dark figure.(Taylor) She let out no scream for help but she was scared for her life, she thought she was saved but,the police found her the next day, her scalp had been cut, blood all over her face, her faced seemed to be bashed repeatedly(complex). 3 murders over the course of 3 months, the police thought they were all connected in some way they gave the murder a nickname..the Axeman since all of the murders happened with some type of axe, now here comes the tricky part, trying to find the
Florence is in her headquarters at the hospital, she works at. She is writing a letter to a patient's mother. When all of a sudden, Mary, a fellow nurse, walks in. Mary and Florence talk about how nice it is to work with each other and how happy Mary is here. Mary quotes, “ I’m glad I’m here with you Miss Nightengale. Good Night.” at the end of their discussion. Also, they talk about how both of their families don’t really want them there. They talk for a little and Florence seems very at home and happy. Later, after Mary had left, two gentlemen come to talk to Florence. It is Dr. Goodale and Dr. Hall that have come to speak with her. After talking for a while they both leave and let Florence to her work. In the hospital, Florence seemed like an entire new person, she was much more
The town of Halifax in West Yorkshire had never experienced such a manhunt in it’s history (Glover 3). During a short, but long lasting in feeling, time period in late November through early December in the year 1938, the town of Halifax underwent a period of mass hysteria. A mysterious “slasher” hid in the shadows and lunged out with a razor blade at people who passed by (Halifax Slasher).
Tragically, the butchered upper-torso of Winter’s once-robust body was stumbled upon by his father, who had noticed the absence of his son since Sunday, March 11 (Smith 2002, 25-26). Unsurprisingly, an investigation occurred to obtain the identity and whereabouts of the murderer. When the various pieces of the body are found in differing areas of the town, theory begins to formulate that the murder was conducted by one of the two butchers in town; Adolph Lewy, a Jew, and Gustav Hoffman, a Christian, due to the precision of the cuts made upon Winter’s body (Smith 28).
When horrific crimes occur in large cities, many of them can be chalked up to gang violence or to the larger population of that specific city. But when horrific crimes happen in small cities like Lincoln, Nebraska, people begin to ask questions like who did this and why. In 1958, a nineteen year old man named Charles Starkweather put the entire state of Nebraska and possibly the entire nation in a state of terror. With his murder spree taking only three days, Starkweather had collected a body count of ten bodies, including two teenagers and a young child. Understanding Starkweather’s past and state of mind begins to answer the second question of why.
...and the public grew informed of the brutal acts. The African-Americans began to move West and by doing so, greatly reduced the white men's income and avenged their deceased friends.
For over a decade, a man recognized as the axeman murdered numerous people, and was never apprehended. The murder of Joseph and Catherine Maggio sniped the attention of many. All of the suspects have unfortunately been released because there has not been sufficient evidence to prove their guilt. However, the investigation led to affirm points to one suspect, a frightening guy named Joseph Mumfre.

At the beginning of the story, in plot “A”, John and Mary are introduced as a stereotypical happy couple with stereotypically happy lives of middle class folks. Words like “stimulating” and “challenging” are used repetitiously to describe events in thei...
...ef workers, police, and military personnel. Many felt as if the government cared less because New Orleans mostly consisted of low income African Americans. Looking at the whole situation, its very important to understand all the things that went wrong prior, during, and after the flood in order to create better protection to New Orleans and to any other place a situation like this can arise. The way the government handled the situation allows the people to learn from the consequences of the actions they did not take. This shows Hurricane Katrina was a source of change for everyone who cares enough to acknowledge it happened. The damage it caused was devastating for everything including the economy.
It was a very normal, very boring night when eight people, six of them kids, were brutally bludgeoned to death while they peacefully slept in their Iowa home. June 10, 1912 is a day that brutally changed Iowa history forever. The Villisca Axe Murder House is still a very popular tourist attraction and a hotspot for paranormal activity.
Today I am going to be explaining how you can defend and prosecute Mr. Baumer. My personal opinion is that Mr. Baumer is innocent because he was defending himself since Slade had attacked him, gave him a broken arm, and put him out of working for a couple of days. But let’s start off with the defense of Mr. Baumer, than the prosecution.
Mary Maloney and Tom Benecke are exclusively unique persons, however, they have some harmonious sides, Mrs. Maloney is a wife that enormously passionate with her husband, that every day she would wait for him to come home from a long day in the force. She will sit in the same place in the living room and wait to overhear the tires on the gravel outside. In the contrary, Tom is a passionate person, but not to his loved one, but nevertheless to work, because he has been putting plenty of work in a project. Day and night he has been working so vigorously, so he can get a promotion in the store he works.

High speed winds and major flooding caused many people to lose their homes and even their lives.
