Monsters are creatures or people that applies fear into their own lives to scare those that are around them. Villains in comic books or movies are considered monsters but have no true fear for the readers since they are fake, and can only bring us entertainment or the sense of being afraid. Serial killers are the monsters of the real world and should be feared the most. Serial killers bring true fear into people’s lives. The Zodiac uses this knowledge of fear and implements it into his own style of killing mass amounts of people, and not be caught. The Zodiac’s letters convey horrific images of what they have done, and what he will accomplish, ultimately inputting fear into the people of the California, in the late 1900s. Zodiac, through his phone calls and actions, felt that he needed to be stopped, but believed that he could show his understanding of manipulating the minds of many, through chaos and reflection of their own lives. Many question whether or not the Zodiac wanted to be known or in hiding, as he was publicly speaking about his killings while still hiding all the evidence that would lead to his arrest. He kept antagonizing the police through slowly releasing his identity. Zodiac, to the public eye, was just a few letters, unknown fingerprints, an unsolved code, and a voice on a telephone. The Zodiac understood the theory of intelligence and madness, where there should be more of one side than the other to be considered useful. Zodiac took this information, and manipulated it so that there was a balance between both madness and intelligence, which was unheard of at that time.
