Lady Macbeth has a very important role in the play “Macbeth”. She is a key player in the demise of Macbeth as well as her own. She is known for her brutality and thirst for power. Her failed attempts to abandon her humanity and insanity caused by guilt are also memorable moments from Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth seemed as though she was just a side character to her husband, but towards the end of the play, her own storyline was fully realized. As Macbeth stats to fulfil his prophecy and take the crown, Lady Macbeth falls back on the role in his life. After the banquet scene in act 3, we realize that Lady Macbeth thinks the killing is done. She realizes the need for Banquo's death but, doesn’t push him to do it so soon. She is aware of her husband's evil thoughts, but this time she does not need to encourage them to become actions. Without the much-needed role of partner in crime, Lady Macbeth is simply a sidekick. She tries to comfort Macbeth and is always there but, she does not play an active role in his evil plans. She would still be ruthless, but she would be more successful in it. In this age, she would not need a man to succeed. She would be a great politician because she is a great smooth talker. She would get what she wanted and would be under constant stress because of it. Lady Macbeth would pretend that her career was only a job and her actions do not mean anything in her life. The blood of her crimes this time could simply be a metaphor for her wrongs done for political gain. Soon enough though, her sins would yet again catch up with her and she would spiral into a depression. If she had not been treated in therapy, Lady Macbeth could be compelled to kill herself.
