Recommended: The theme of evil in Lord of the Flies by William Golding

In these pages of Lord of the Flies we are first introduced to our main character named Ralph. Ralph finds himself all alone on the beach. As Ralph is exploring he comes upon another kid, which called himself piggy. Together they depict that they were on a plane with other English boys during a time of war. The boys go looking for the pilot and the other boys but they are not found. While walking along the beach the boys find a conch shell. Piggy tells Ralph to blow into the shell so it makes a noise. When Ralph blew into the shell it made a loud noise. That noise attracted all of the other boys to their position. A few boys show up and then after a while the choir, which was on the plane comes marching down the beach in two columns. The leader of the choir is a boy named Jack. …show more content…

The choir votes for Jack, but everyone else votes for Ralph. At the end of the election, Ralph comes out as the leader. This makes Jack upset because he really wanted to be the leader. Ralph then forms a hunting group made up of the choir boys and he chooses Jack be the leader of that group. The boys then go out to explore and find a tall vantage point. They discover that they are on an island and there is no sign of civilization. The boys start to head back towards the beach when they come upon a pig that is caught in a bush. Jack comes forward with his knife drawn, but he doesn’t kill the pig. The pig escapes, but Jack swears that next time he will kill the pig with no problem. The boys keep moving back towards the beach where all of the other boys are waiting to greet them back. pg.

    In the middle of a war a group of British schoolboys are being evacuated, they are shot down over a deserted island. The first two boys we meet Ralph and Piggy find their way to the beach where they find a conch shell. They use the shell to summon all the other boys on the island to the beach. He has the boys democratically elect a leader which turns out to be him and appoints Jack the leader of a the choir into the second in command and in charge of hunting. Ralph, Jack, and Simon go out and explore the island to confirm that it is infact an island. Ralph gets the idea in order to be rescued we must light a signal fire and appoints Jack in control of that. They use Piggy’s glasses to ignite the blaze but upon their success they forgot to monitor the fire, which quickly became out of control and set part of the forest on fire. Jack becomes obsessed with hunting and begins to neglect the fire.
