Who Is Katniss Everdeen

“As I slowly, thoroughly wash the makeup from my face and put my hair in its braid, I begin transforming back into myself. Katniss Everdeen. A girl who lives in the Seam, Hunts in the woods. Trades in the Hob. I stare in the mirror as I try to remember who I am and who I am not”.
Katniss feels like she´s two different people and she feels insecure with one of them. The girl who is dressed with fancy clothes and who is covered with makeup feels like the fake visionof Katniss and not herself. That is only a fake vision of Katniss just to convince Panem that she belongs to the society. However, the real Katniss is more natural with simple clothes. When she becomes herself again, she remembers the potentials she has, potentials that identifies her as “Katniss”, the brave girl with strength ad courage.

Katniss would like to be like herself; she does not want to have her life and identity changed as she is out of the arena.

After changing her clothes to the simple one, she feels that she is herself again. She is free from any changes in identity and appearance as she had to in the Capitol. She knows who she is now just a girl from district 12 as she was before but with more experience. Now, when she looks at her face in the mirror, she realizes that she is again- who she is without a ting of contamination left from the Capitol. This appearance is shown as the change in personalities by simply changing clothes and it can feel strange that something as clothes can make you feel like somebody else, but have you think a little

further?
Who are you? I mean behind your front? If you are like many others, you are very much after getting confirmation from the outside world, or at least attention. You may spend your life making others happy and satisfied. Subconsciously you look for confirmation and want to be liked and appreciated. What you forget is who is responsible that you are satisfied and happy. It´s you! You have to stop listening to that voice that grinds on, your fears, insecurities and everything else. You can be who you want to be, you don´t have to do like the others just to fit in, be true to who you are. It´s just like Katniss, she didn´t feel good when she had to try to be someone else just to benefit others.

I am almost sure that many young girls can relate to Katniss and her feelings after she washed away the makeup and changed into her clothes that she feels comfortable in. I can imagine that many young girls do makeup or dress in clothes that they don´t really want to dress in, just because the others dresses that way, just to be like them , just because society looks like that. Inside, they might feel like Katniss, they are themselves when they are unvarnished and wearing clothes that they enjoy but feel compelled to be a certain way to be liked the others. But what good is it to be liked by others when inside you don´t feel comfortable and secure about yourself or like the one you see in the mirror?

The paragraph tells us that Katniss isn´t secure as the person they want her to be, she´s almost forgetting who she really is but that she finds herself back when she listen to her feelings about the makeup and clothes, so she tells us that we have to remind us who we truly are and learn to be our self and accept it.
