Melbourne Renegade is all set to re -sign Chris Gayle for season's Big Bash League (BBL). Gayle was embroiled in a controversy due to his sexist comments on TEN reporter Mel McLaughlin during an interview. In words of David Saker, Melbourne Renegades coach, he is open to re-signing Chris Gayle for next in spite of the West Indian's controversial interview. Saker is of opinion that the reaction to the West Indian's "don't blush, baby" interview with reporter Mel McLaughlin was out of proportion, rather it was "a bit of a beat up". Gayle has been Renegades leading scorer last season with 260 runs in eight games and averaged 32.5.He equaled the record for the fastest ever Twenty20 half-century as he kindled the Adelaide Strikers for …show more content…
Gayle recently again took to social media to announce his naming his newborn daughter 'Blush' in a move that shocked many given its association with the sexism scandal. Gayle's "Don't blush, baby" remarks to McLaughlin pitched the BBL,amidst of a watershed season, into scandal and a disgraceful punchline. Amidst the uncertainty of the 36 year old's BBL future; the declaration of James Sutherland, Cricket Australia chief executive that Gayle won't be prevented from signing with a BBL franchise came as a relief to the player and his fans. Saker is of the opinion that though Gayle's behavior was inappropriate but that it would not be counted when he considered the Renegades' playing list for the 2016-17 BBL season. Saker stated to Fairfax Media on Wednesday (May 4) that “That doesn't enter my mind, I just pick a squad of players," Saker told "If the hierarchies or people in higher positions than myself come down on that, they do. All I try to do is pick a squad to
A man from the book into the wild stated on the opinion of Chris McCandless and his fatal adventure into the alaskan bush his opinion brutal albeit honest in his view of the McCandless boy states that, “entering the wilderness purposefully ill-prepared, and surviving a near-death experience does not make you a better human it makes you damn lucky” (Krakauer pg. 71). Yet as the wonderful Drew Barrymore has said “If you don’t take risks you’ll have a wasted soul.” So was Chris McCandless really a kook or was he a pilgrim?
“McCandless was something else – although precisely what is hard to say.” (pg. 85). Chris was a very different person, but not crazy. He was emotionally motivated at the time and had his mind set on Alaska. In the end, Chris was nowhere near prepared for this journey, but was too caught up in what he was trying to do to realize this. I agree with Krakauer that Chris wasn’t crazy or insane, but in his attempts to survive in Alaska he made several mistakes and ultimately, led an ill-prepared journey to Alaska that killed him.
Another case is that of 17-year-old Kendrick Johnson whose death was initially ruled the result of accidental suffocation. A second autopsy produced a different conclusion, but when the second autopsy was performed, his body had been stuffed with newspaper, and his organs were missing ("Organ Trafficking, Melanin Theory & the Fountain of Youth -," n.d.). The brain, heart, lungs and liver were missing. He also discovered Johnson's death was due to blunt force trauma to the right side of his neck (Archer,
In Into the Wild, Chris McCandless was a young man from Virginia who loved living his life on his own. On an adventure to Alaska, Chris ran into the some trouble and perished. While Chris’s death is a horrible event that will burn in the memory of his family and friends, it could have been easily prevented. If Chris was smarter he would have thought about his preparation, his motivation, and the possibility that he was mentally ill. He could have been able to live out in the Alaskan Wilderness and survive his adventure and return home safely.
I agree with the author, John Krakauer, in the notion that Chris McCandless was not crazy
Definition of a seeker= someone who looks outwards and goes on a physical or mental journey to find something hidden about themselves or something.
Just because someone is top of the class, graduated at a very wealthy, highly academic school they can still make foolish decisions. No matter the IQ or schooling it can't stop someone from being a fool. Chris McCandless was all of these things and had all the knowledge and preparation needed. Although Christopher McCandless embodied intelligence and impacted many lives, he made many foolish decisions that ultimately cost him his life and his family much undeserved pain.
Secretary of State Colin Luther Powell served as national security adviser to President Ronald Reagan, and under President George Bush became the first African American to serve as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1989-1993). In 2001 the U.S. Senate confirmed him as the Secretary of State.
In many ways, Chris McCandless was unlike the average kid. A combination of many different things had
of using HGH, a steroid, including Ryan Braun, 65-game ban, and Alex Rodriguez, 2014-season ban.
In the novel, Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer uses an empathetic tone to explore people's experiences and stories with Chris McCandless to prove that McCandless was sane for those needing closure about his life. Everyone who came across Chris and was able to talk to him saw him for who he was, a true romantic. They saw that he was not just a crazed young man craving adventure, in search of his odyssey. By using anecdotes, comparisons, and, using his own personal experiences, relating to Chris, Krakauer is able to portray Chris as sane.
