When you think of the name Andrew Carnegie, does the words hero, or non-heroic come after it?
As his voice erupts through the broadcast, a quote rings through the nation’s ears. “The human brain now holds the key to our future. We have to recall the image of the planet from outer space: a single entity in which air, water, and continents are interconnected. That is our home.” This quote demonstrates the confident voice of David Suzuki presents his keen identity. The quotation presents the determination as well as the passion that he has on protecting the environment and the glint of hope that relies on humans taking on this responsibility as the key to saving our delicate planet.
Andrew Carnegie, an inventor, philosopher, and entrepreneur, helped create the age of industrialization; also known as the Gilded Age. With his steel, he turned the U.S from an agricultural and commercial nation to an industrial nation. Being one of the forward-thinking men of his time, he helped cities expand bringing urbanization. Although many people consider him a hero, he is considered an antagonist because of his atrocious working conditions coupled with the long hour and the wages. So was he a hero? A hero is generally defined as someone who is admired or idealized usually for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. On the other hand, an anti-hero is someone who lacks the traits of a traditional hero but still has the greater good of the people in mind. Though Carnegie did the best he could for the people of the future, I cannot say the same for the people of his time. Andrew Carnegie is in between a hero and a villain; he is an anti-hero.
Shahrazad is seen as a heroic figure throughout the Nights because she comes up with a well thought out plan to stop King Shahrayar’s killing spree and spare the lives of the women who would eventually fall into the king’s trap. Shahrazad was very intelligent, she knew what was happening to the women who married the king then disappeared the day after and wanted to put a stop to it. She told her father that she wanted to marry the king so that she could “either succeed in saving the people or perish and die like the rest” (1182). She was not very sure if her plan would work but she would even die trying to save the lives of her people. To complete her mission she would tell a story, more exciting than the first, to King Shahrayar every night to keep him entertained so that he would not just spare her life, but the lives of others as well.
The heroism of Marquis de Lafayette evokes near-universal praise as a selfless lionheart, and champion of freedom. From a volunteer commissioned as a Major General in the continental army, to a freedom fighter in revolutionary France, Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette’s leadership is admired by patriots in both nations, and historians around the world. His heroism, however, is not just as a result of his wartime triumphs. Indeed, intellectuals praise the man for not just being a warrior, but a humanitarian, a philosopher, and a revolutionary.
Andrew Carnegie, a philanthropist who has helped hundreds. But there is a side of him that not many knew. Is Andrew Carnegie a hero? Andrew Carnegie was born in Dunfermline, Scotland. He and his family were in poverty, living in an attic of a weavers cottage. For a better life, his family moved to America. There Carnegie started working as a bobbin boy. Carnegie later became locally famous, and was later given a well paying job. Andrew Carnegie was not a hero because he was greedy, and prideful. In the Andrew Carnegie,“Wealth” North American Review, June 1889 text it states that Carnegie did not leave much fortune to his own family, because he believed it to be “misguided affection” This was selfish of him to give his own family enough money, the money that they deserve. In addition in the Cartoon Published in The Saturday Globe it shows that while Andrew Carnegie was giving money to other countries, his workers needed the money the most to be able to support their families.
This story following a Jewish man, Jakob Heym, living in the ghetto during World War II is captivating and entwined with interesting questions of moral dilemma. Written over two decades after the end of the Holocaust, the plot follows Jakob in his daily life in the ghetto after being caught up in a lie that he is in possession of a radio. The setting is so dismal and hopeless, that the little radio effects many of the people around him, in a variety of ways. Within two weeks of his self-titled fifth studio album, FUTURE, the Atlanta rapper returns with HNDRXX, his sixth studio album with a lot of emotions to spill. To release two full-length albums merely weeks apart gives us a spilt metaphor of trap and R&B and the separation between the mind and body. Future becomes brutally honest throughout the codeine and confessions of the women, drugs, money and success. FUTURE gives us some highlight hits like “Rent Money,” “Draco,” “Mask Off,” “High Demand” and “Feds Did a Sweep,” but fails to live up to the hype.
House music was first and foremost, the direct descendant of "Disco". Many older and wiser Chicago, New York and New Jersey House dj's will agree with me on this. They will acknowledged that fact that it was due to New York's, huge Disco club and music scene that helped to create the music of House and Garage and its culture within Chicago, Usa.
