Who I Am Today

When I think of the person I am today, I think of the things I have experienced, the things I have learned, and the people who have impacted my life. There are so many small things that I have experienced that have played a role in shaping my personality and character. Reflecting back on what I know, what I have learned, my beliefs and my background really helps me to determine who I am as a person right now.
I think I know a good number of things for my age. My parents have played a huge part of in shaping me into the person I am and exposing me to new things. For example, they have taken me on vacations and exposed me to new cultures and people that I would not have interacted with otherwise. I believe in God, I believe in love, and I believe that everything happens for a reason. The people I have grown up around helped shape my beliefs, but now I am reevaluating some of them and deciding if they truly reflect the person I want to be today and in the future. I think I believe in love because of my parents and their relationship. I believe in God because I grew up Catholic and I truly do believe a higher power exists. At this point, I do not know if I want to continue practicing Catholicism or if I want to explore new religions. Catholicism is all I have known and I am curious about what else may be out there that maybe fits better with where I am at in my life and faith right now. My family is supportive of this decision. So far, I have had a couple times, but not many, that I felt like my beliefs were being deliberately tested and challenged. I was thrown a little off guard in those situations, but I stood my ground and stayed strong in my beliefs.
I grew up in a traditional family with my mom, dad, younger brother and a couple pets. My family originates from Germany and Czechoslovakia and has been in the United States for several generations. I do not know much about my family history or why they decided to come to America at this point. I am close to both of my grandmas and most of my aunts and uncles. We all try to spend major holidays together and that is one of our main family
