Whitey Bulger Research Paper

Whitey Bulger, or James Joseph Bulger Jr. was born on September 3, 1929, Dorchester,

Massachusetts, U.S.A. who was an American crime boss as the head of the Boston-area Winter

Hill Gang. A notorious crime organization from the late 1960s to the mid-1990s and later on

until his capture in June 2011 and cited by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as one of the

most wanted fugitives. Bulger started committing crime acts in his teenage years where he was

involved in a street gang and was arrested for several charges such as forgery, assault, and battery.

at evading severe consequences for his wrongdoings which gave him an entitlement of being

a

cunning criminal. Bulger was also convicted of numerous bank robberies in three different

states and was sentenced to federal prison for 20 years and later on granted parole from notorious

penitentiaries at Leavenworth and Alcatraz. Upon his return in the early 1970s, Bulger

became an enforcer for mob kingpin Donald Killeen and soon obtain similar duties with an

Irish-American crime syndicate led by Howie Winter. In 1975, Bulger worked with the FBI

as an informant, working alongside with an FBI Handler, John J. Connolly which he began

to take an interest in him and being corrupted by his influence. The situation was referred as “a

devil’s deal and giving rise to the worst informant scandal in FBI history. Instead of the FBI

controlling Bulger, the crime boss began to manipulate his handler and other FBI agents.”

with an additional indictment with connections of murder cases that he committed in 1995.

In 2013 of his trial, Bulger was found guilty and given two life sentences plus five years
