Have you ever been reading your Bible and thought to yourself, “Where did the inspiration of the Bible come from?” I believe that this is a very common question that many Christians ask. I believe that when you are talking about the inspiration of the Bible you have to start with God. I think if you want to find out about biblical inspiration you need to first look at the Bible itself. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” This verse tells us that every word of the Bible comes from God. In 2 Peter 1:20-21 it tells us that, “Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture …show more content…
Inspiration is verbal (Geisler, 28). There are multiple passages of scripture in the Bible from both the Old Testament and the New Testament that state this idea, like the two passages mentioned above. One example comes from Exodus 24:3-4, “When Moses went and told the people all the Lord’s words and laws, they responded with one voice, “Everything the Lord has said we will do.” Moses then wrote down everything the Lord had said.” 2 Samuel 23:2 says, “The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me; his word was on my tongue.” From the New Testament you can look at one of an often repeated phrase, “it is written”, to see that this fact that the Bible’s inspiration is verbal is seen in the New Testament as well as the Old Testament (Geisler, 29). The second idea is that inspiration is plenary or full (Geisler, 29).The Bible is inspired in all its parts (Geisler, 29). Referring back to 2 Timothy 3:16 it says that ALL scripture is God breathed. You can even look to Romans 15:4 when it says, “For EVERYTHING that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” Jesus and the New Testament writers often illustrate their belief in the full and complete inspiration of the Old Testament by quoting from every part of the Scriptures as authoritative (Geisler,
The Bible is read and interpreted by many people all over the world. Regardless, no one knows the absolute truth behind scripture. Walter Brueggemann, professor of Old Testament, wrote “Biblical Authority” to help people understand what he describes as six different parts that make up the foundation to ones understanding of scripture. He defines these six features as being: inherency, interpretation, imagination, ideology, inspiration, and importance. As Brueggemann explains each individual part, it is easy to see that they are all interconnected because no one can practice one facet without involuntarily practicing at least one other part.
It is a well-known fact that the Internet has become a central part of society, and it has completely changed every aspect of life for the human race, whether it is for better or worse. Nicholas Carr explains his thoughts on how the Internet has changed how people think in his article, “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” He believes that the human race is losing its ability to think deeply and is creating a distraction culture, and that companies like Google are working to increase this way of thinking. However, the issue of how the human brain is changing with the Internet is very complex, and the answer to this question goes beyond a simple yes or no.
The Apostle Paul states, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16, NIV). He also reminds Christians that, if
form known as tradition. Sacred scripture also passes Revelation onto us. It can be best described as the “speech of God”, that is written under the process of the Holy Spirit. The apostles did the process of sacred scripture in three different ways, through preaching, the examples they gave, and by the institutions that were created.
In order to determine if the New Testament is God’s Word one must understand how the New Testament came together. It is very important to understand the terms, which make up the process and the physical existence of the New Testament and the Bible for that matter. When making reference to the Bible many people use different terms to mean the same thing.

The Bible as a Historical Document MARK'S THEOLOGY REFLECTED IN WRITING Mark and the other evangelists used basically five ways to change, edit or enhance Jesus' sayings to reflect their own views of Christianity. According to the Five Gospels Book, plagiarism and changing of writing was not a crime, but actually very common Mark's time. Besides, Mark never knew Jesus first-hand, he somehow had to make a 'story' from basically Hearsay!
“For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” 2 Peter 1:21 (ESV)
Every Christians today knows the story of Jesus birth. The story of how Mary and Joseph travel to Bethlehem for a censes declared by the Roman Empire. While not being able to find an inn to stay in and Mary getting ready to give birth, they stow away in the cave where the animals were kept. While there Mary gave birth to a son and called him Jesus. While Jesus was in a manger a heavenly host of angles came down and also Shepard’s from the field came and rejoiced the savior was born. This is where the typical nativity scene comes from. Unless you have a Doctorate and teach a History of the New testament class and go into fine detail about the story, then story this is what people hear. Well this is for History of the New Testament so the fine details are what we are looking for. Most people do not realize that the story they tell every Christmas is actually a combination of two stories. The birth story is told in the Gospels of Luke and the Gospels of Mathew but each tell a very different version of what actually happened and that is what leads to people questioning the accuracy of the bible today.
Spanning fifteen hundred years with over 30,700 manuscripts, extensive archaeological evidence and 2000 prophecies that have been fulfilled, the Bible is God 's word to us. (Yohn, 2013). In the Bible, the Father is essentially giving us a picture of the history of the world and is also leading us to a place where we must make a decision that involves whether we choose to accept his son or reject him and remain guilty. Additionally, the Word of God tells us what happened that caused this breach between us and God, the result of this and how God has rectified it through the blood of his son. In fact, from the beginning of the Bible (written 1400 B.C.) to the last book (A.D. 96), God is showing us why we need Jesus and how to find him. Just as a plant’s root system propagates and occupies the pot that encloses it, Jesus permeates the entire Bible. Therefore, the motif of the Bible is the story of the redemption of mankind and it all points to Jesus as the messiah and savior who secures this for all.
Jesus Christ and Paul stayed faithful to God’s message even though they were presenting their message of the Old Testament to an audience of the New Testement. Jesus Christ would debate the use of a particular words tense of the verb in the Old Testament questions. Paul would make his theological argument based on the Old Testament passage as singular or plural. They exhorted the importance of correctly interpreting the scripture. Paul also urged Timothy(2 Tim 3:16) to study the Old Testament, stating that all scripture is inspired by God. The Old Testament and New Testament affirm that the Word of God is eternal.
What is the meaning of Biblical inspiration? The word inspiration firstly appeared in usage in second Timothy 3:16, where we can read: “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right" (Holy Bible, 2013). Following the word's syntax, assumption is that "inspired" is translated to mean every scripture is inspired and useful. Some translations give samples that could be explained as “ex-spired” or "breathed out", therefore, the expression “God-Breathed.” Looking through the Biblical sense of inspiration the firstly comes the idea that writers created exactly the things need to be written for God. This idea is supported in Peter 1: 20-21, where it is clearly stated that "no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation...
