There is not one person in this world that has never told a story to someone or heard a story before. A story can be told and interpret different ways. People tell stories to express how they feel about certain aspect of the world. Have you ever wonder, how other people might feel about telling their stories? The stories we tell others shape us by being able to express our thoughts and feelings about our life. Every story that has been told carries a meaning behind it; the meaning behind the story comes from our inner voice. Our inner voice is the ideas and thoughts that come to our minds every day. Before we tell or write a story we think about how we really feel about the ideas and thoughts that we have. Most of the time when a person tells a story is about how they would want their life to be. We reflect on …show more content…
Not only do the lyrics of the song is the one that tells the story and feelings but also sound of the music. The sound of the music also is the one that helps to express the feelings in story. The sound sets the mood and the tone in the singers’ voice. Many of the songs tell a love story and life stories that tell the way they lived. People listen to the music that they can relate to and sing along to the lyrics to help them express the thoughts and feelings they are having about their life. Sharing your story to another people can also help them shape up their life. Mrs. Kelly Omero is a motivational speaker for teens. Being a motivational speaker is not only to motivate a person but to also share your person feelings about the things that surround your life. She shares her feelings and thought about her life story; Mrs. Kelly stated “each and every time I share my story I experience different emotions that set me free once again.” Watching her share her thoughts and feelings about her life showed me another way how telling a story can shape someone’s
Stories told to show the past are important because they make people remember the past so they don't repeat it. When there was a console to get the sickness out of Luo by wiping him with “two Branches, one from a peach tree, the other from a willow.” They said to Luo “Only these trees would do”(p34). This shows that they if they had been told that wiping wouldn’t help a sickness, then they mite not of beaten Luo. This also shows that they have lost some civility by not being able to learn form history. Another story told is used to invoke emotions.
The point of stories it to tell a tale and inflict certain emotions onto the reader. Tim O’Brien uses this in his novel The Things They Carried. These stories were fictional but true, regaling his experiences of war. In the last chapter he writes that stories have the ability to save people. He does not mean “save” in a biblical sense, but as if a person saved the progress on a game they have been playing.
Stories are the way humans share, create, and explore their many experiences and identities with each other. When a story is told, the original content lingers depending upon how the storyteller recalls the content. Once the story is retold, it often takes on different details and meanings, because each storyteller adds their own perspective, experience, and meaning. The story then begins to have its own life. Each storyteller has a connection to the beginning and the end of the story.
The simplicity of the lyrics allows for the audience to completely understand each word, which speak directly to their emotions causing a feeling of personal connection between the song and the listeners. For example, the song starts
I think music has a way of explaining something or telling a story. Music can bring up happy times, it can also bring up sad times as well. Certain songs can remind someone of troubling issues from a past, can be the reminder of someone you have lost, it can also be a reminder of many happy times; such as weddings, high school dances, or even just hanging out with friends in the back
1. Growing up we all heard stories. Different types of stories, some so realistic, we cling onto them farther into our lives. Stories let us see and even feel the world in different prespectives, and this is becuase of the writter or story teller. We learn, survive and entertain our selves using past experiences, which are in present shared as stories. This is why Roger Rosenblatt said, "We are a narrative species."
Stories are necessary aspects in our everyday life. From helping us remember a loved one to preparing for an interview, stories are extremely beneficial. I hear stories everyday and they help me as I overcome the loss of my favorite uncle. He was a great man and is still present everyday because of the impact stories of his great legacy have. Without stories, I would be sad every day that he is no longer physically with me, but I always hear of the great things he did and it consoles and comforts me greatly.
In the musical world, there is so much that you can learn and take from a song. However, the only way you can understand a song is by picking up the themes that the artist has used to represent in his music. The way that the artist conveys his/her themes, is by the use of different literary devices to strengthen the emotion in which the artist wants to express the themes of his music. An example of artist portraying their emotions through their music, would be the artists Common and John Legend. In their song “Glory” they talk about the three themes of freedom/glory, togetherness, and power in peace, with the help of using simile, ballad, rhyme, anaphora and lyric.
By telling stories, you objectify your own experience. You separate it from yourself. You pin down certain truths. You make up others. You start sometimes with an incident that truly happened, like the night in the shit field, and you carry it forward by inventing incidents that
Personal narratives allow you to share your life with others and vicariously experience the things that happen around you. Your job as a writer is to put the reader in the midst of the action letting him or her live through an experience. Although a great deal of writing has a thesis, stories are different. A good story creates a dramatic effect, makes us laugh, gives us pleasurable fright, and/or gets us on the edge of our seats. A story has done its job if we can say, "Yes, that captures what living with my father feels like," or "Yes, that’s what being cut from the football team felt like."
A person can do more than just dance to music; they clean, laugh, sing, cry, and make some of the greatest memories while enjoying music. Music can take us back in time to past memories, whether they are good or bad. It can make us think of different phases of our life. Just hearing one song can take us back years. It can make us think of a certain person at a particular part in time. The words and lyrics in songs have a way of relating to some people. (White) (Lyon, Suzanne)
Storytelling is an interaction between two or more individuals speaking on an event using words, images, sounds, dramatization, props, etc. Stories or narratives are shared for the purpose of education, entertainment, cultural preservation, or teaching lessons. Narratives aren 't just interesting because of the story being told but how the story is being told. Narratives have many features that not only group them together but differentiate them as well. The person who is narrating the story is also given insight to when listening to, reading, or watching a
Fear has taken a hold of every man aboard this ship, as it should; our luck is as far gone as the winds that led us off course. For nights and days gusts beyond measure have forced us south, yet our vessel beauty, Le Serpent, stays afloat. The souls aboard her, lay at the mercy of this ruthless sea. Chaotic weather has turned the crew from noble seamen searching for glory and riches, to whimpering children. To stay sane I keep the holy trinity close to my heart and the lady on my mind. Desperation comes and goes from the men’s eyes, while the black, blistering clouds fasten above us, as endless as the ocean itself. The sea rocks our wood hull back and forth but has yet to flip her. The rocking forces our bodies to cling to any sturdy or available hinge, nook or rope, anything a man can grasp with a sea soaked hand. The impacts make every step a danger. We all have taken on a ghoulish complexion; the absence of sunlight led the weak souls aboard to fight sleep until sick. Some of us pray for the sun to rise but thunder constantly deafens our cries as it crackles above the mast. We have been out to sea for fifty-five days and we have been in this forsaken storm for the last seventeen.
Sometimes the emotion that the music brings is very noticeable. For example, if someone is attempting to recover after the death of a loved one and they hear a song that reminds them of that person, it can create different emotions quickly. The song could make that person remember the good times that they had together and make them happy, or it could make them extremely sad.... ... middle of paper ...
Through music we are able to comprehend someone’s personality, their views, their culture, and who they are as an overall person. The music you listen to is a reflection of who you are and your own personal thoughts. As I reflect on the music I listen to I came to the conclusion that I gravitate towards songs that depict the emotions we feel through lyrics while being able to relate it to my own personal experiences.
