What is Capital Punishment?
Capital Punishment is a practise in which prisoners are executed in accordance with judicial practice when they are convicted of committing what is known as a “capital crime”. Capital crimes are crimes so heinous that they should be punishable by death. People may also use the term “death penalty” to refer to Capital Punishment. Worldwide, this practise is extremely controversial, with a variety of concern ranging from human rights to economic efficiency being raised in discussion about Capital Punishment.

Capital punishment is defined as “The legal authorization to kill someone as a punishment for a crime.” The death penalty has been a widely debated topic on its moral standing and effectiveness of use. In this paper I will be presenting the thoughts of four people; Austin Sarat, Kent Scheidegger, Jeffrey Toobin, and my own and our perspectives on capital punishment being used.

After so many years this type of punishment, also known as the “death penalty”, remains a very controversial topic all around the world, raising countless debates on whether it should be legalized or not.
Drug trafficking is a prohibited, global trade that involves the production, the distribution, and the sales of drugs. It is a topic that has become a very large issue all over the world. It also has had a very big effect on many different countries because they often depend on the business that the drug trafficking creates. Since it has become such a problem, there have been many different efforts to put a stop to drug trafficking by different enforcement agencies. A website about drug statistics, drugabuse.net, indicated that the Drug Enforcement Agency or DEA, as it is well known as, makes over thirty thousand arrests each year dealing with the illegal sales or distribution of drugs. It is also believed that Mexico’s economy would shrink by over sixty-three percent if they lost their drug trafficking industry. There are many different tribulations like this that drug trafficking has created. Many people see it as such a vital asset to some countries, so it has emerged as an extremely big business that brings in a boatload of money. Capital punishment is punishment for a crime by death, which is frequently referred to as the death penalty. Today, most countries have abolished the death penalty. America is one of the few countries that has kept this form cruel and inhumane form of punishment. In American history, the death penalty was abolished, but it was brought back not long afterwards. Not only is capital punishment inhumane and pricey but it also voids our rights as a citizen and is unconstitutional. Capital punishment is an improper form of punishment that needs to be abolished in all states.

Capital punishment should be re-introduced, and should only be used for crimes that are committed by people whose intention was just to kill people for entertainment, cannibalism or to spread terror. There are lots of advantages if capital punishment is carried out correctly: There is no possibility for them to commit another crime, it acts as a deterrent for others who do/may do that crime, saves us (tax-payers) lots of money as they don’t get kept in jail for their entire life, it may make the victim’s family feel better and it acts like a revenge for the victim’s family.
