There was many different theories people had came up with to try and rationalize the situation. Some people say that it had something to do with the Earth’s tectonic plates splitting apart, while others thought otherwise. My own and favorite theory was something along the lines of Yellowstone geysers blowing up. Still, all I know is that some serious shit must have happened in order for most of the countries to be split apart. Let me back up a bit and try to explain the situation. My first memory that some fucked up shit was happening came from the news. So picture this, me being 13 years old, eating some cereal when I’m watching a news headline about a huge fissure in the ground. The newscast was some place in the middle of California and just going on and on about this apparently fascinating fissure. Me being 13 at the time didn’t really think much of it and had switched the channel to something more entertaining. People might’ve been able to brush off the fissure moving a couple states, but when it got into the middle of Kansas, they started to get worried. The government assured us that they would take care of it and not to worry. That ended up being a complete clusterfuck as each method they tried would make the fissure either deeper, or increase in size. Ultimately, they stopped doing anything and hoped that it would just eventually stop. Yeah, a great idea that one was. I mean, it eventually did stop, but after it split America in half diagonally. At first, the government had everybody gather into each one of their town halls to watch a broadcast they sent addressing the matter. I remember meeting some of my friends at the townhall of my small town. They seemed just as confused as I was.
