Ten years ago when we thought of the future, we saw flying cars, robots, and futuristic buildings. Nowadays, we cannot even think about the future until we fix our current state; otherwise there would be no future to think about. I remember the first time I was told about the shocking problems of our world. I was sitting in my mundane health class which was as cold as the north pole. My teacher rambling on about something I did not care too much about, then he began talking about the environment. Showing the class pictures of brown smog taking over big cities, waste polluting water, climate change affecting the ice caps, and deforestation for more infrastructure space. He gave us a lengthy lesson on how to reduce waste and taught about how to live sustainably. The lesson changed the way I lived and shifted the way I viewed the world. The word sustainability can have a wide meaning to different types of people, for me it is a way of living so that we can rescue the planet we have been damaging for years. Everyone deserves to have a safe and healthy living environment. A serious issue like climate change (which affects our air, sea levels, natural disasters and agriculture) must be fixed to improve quality of life. Many people in the community take natural, necessary resources like clean water and breathable air for granted. We do not think about the consequences of our choices and how they can further impact us. Every person in the community has to work together to fix this international problem. Everyone can and should do their share to contribute, even the smallest things can make an impact. We have the tools to change the current state of our world, now all we have to do is begin the process.
