How do the structures of the pyramid and modern day buildings compare ?
In ancient times the pyramids were made out of stone or brick unlike the usual metal or wood that we use on modern day buildings. In Egypt they put a secret covering over the pyramids to help them be seen from farther away. If we want our buildings to be seen from a long distance we just make them taller than their surroundings. The top of the pyramid was usually made out of a hard stone and could be plated with precious medals. This shows that the pyramids are very valuable and took many years to make.( Ask.com, 2013)

The Pyramids Of Giza were chosen as they are three extraordinary structures that give a rich insight into the context, culture, function, technology, power and experiential aspects of the time period and the buildings themselves. The three pyramids showcase the Egyptian’s advanced construction and design methods, their religious beliefs and practices, their rich and diverse culture, the power of the king, as well as the context that surrounded these magnificent structures.
The extraordinary pyramid you are currently looking at was created by the Zapotec. The amazing pyramid is located in Monte Albán. The pyramid was created during the 700s BCE. This pyramid is large and has alot of terraces. This pyramid also contains deep stone stairs. It's thought that this pyramid was used for storage, mostly valuable items. Also, people thought that this pyramid was used sometimes for a home of rulers of the land.
...sledges and track and roll. Also there are many theories of how it was constructed as Peter James stated that the old theory where Ancient Egyptians built it and manoeuvred 2.5 million of stones and laying one every three minutes is impossible it would take hundreds of thousands of workers to build. Instead he believes they were built inside out and Jean- Pierre Houdin also agrees on that. Houdin believes that the Egyptians used right angled spiral ramps to transport the blocks and build up the pyramid. There are pyramids all around the world they been constructed in a time where there is no communication between these people.
Depending on the source, it is stated many times that slaves built the pyramids. However, from these sources there are no convincing primary evidence that can prove this theory. Therefore, I think payed laborers built the Great Pyramid at Giza. According to the interview with Mark Lehrner, it is stated that, “the graffiti gives us a picture of organization where a gang of workmen was organized into two crews, the crews were subdivided into five phyles.” In this interview, Mark specifically states that this evidence was found above the tombs of kings in the pyramids. This “graffiti” is in the form of single hieroglyphs that identified each gang that built the pyramids. This evidence is convincing
The Great Pyramid has astonished people for hundreds of years, yet more research needs to be done, and with that more queries arise. The typical theory is that it was constructed to act as a tomb for Pharaoh Khufu started in 2589 B.C and finished in 2504 B.C., using only wood, rope and copper tools. The world has been bewildered for thousands of years about just how slave laborers transported the massive stones and lifted them into position. Nevertheless, it is less and less able to respond to questions as new evidence give rise to new information. Evidently, the Great pyramid is no normal structure.
The Pyramids at Giza were beautiful structures were built to endure an eternity. They are meant to protect and usher an Egyptian Pharaoh in the afterlife. The monumental tombs are the legacy of Egypt 's Old Kingdom era and were constructed more than 4,500 years ago. Pharaohs of ancient Egypt were expected to become gods once they entered the afterlife. In preparation for their journey through the afterlife, Pharaohs recruited his people to erect monuments and temples worshipping the gods, as well as massive pyramid tombs for themselves. Along with the building of the tomb, the builders would filled the tombs with everything a ruler would need to sustain himself in the next life. Along the tomb walls artist would carve and paint beautiful scenes depicting the daily lives of Egyptians. The entire Giza Pyramid complex tells us that the ancient Egyptians searched for order out of the chaos. They used an understanding of the frailty of life and the driving need to understand the constants in nature to form the basis for their beliefs, daily lives, and ultimately their culture.
There are many competing theories on why the great pyramid was built, none of them are definite but all of them are interesting. Many other pyramids have been built in the Middle East but none of the same stature. Other pyramids have been found to be burial chambers for various kings and pharaohs, but the Great Pyramid contained no burial remnants even though its essential design is the same as other pyramids, even containing special chambers for a king and a queen. (iii) Modern day scientists have discovered many interesting correlations between the location and dimensions of the Great Pyramid, that relate to the earth, the stars, and the seasons. (iv)
The pyramid was erected nearly around 2000 years ago as a memorial to this long event , as a place of worship the great gods, and maybe is used as a tomb of the ruler who had it built. Rising at 60m (c. 200 feet) . Two pyramids were their main works , the pyramid of the moon and of the sun, (The Avenue Of The Dead) , a set of huge compounds ( the ' Ciudadela' or Citadel and the 'Great Compound'), and finally their own homes. Then the Teotihuacan's grew to surround the Pyramid of the sun with a densely settled urban grid covering 20 sq. km ( 8 sq. miles ) and housing over 100,000 people.

When thinking of pyramids our minds quickly go to the country of Egypt. We have learned about Egyptian pyramids in school, seen their pictures in books, and they are frequently featured in various movie projects. These pyramids, as famous as they may be, are not the only pyramids in the world. There happens to be just as many located in Egypt’s southern neighbor, Sudan.
It was built during Khufu's rule from 2551-2528 BCE by thousands of men, most of whom were agriculturists and other laborers who were paid for their labor. They worked exceptionally difficult for over 20 years to construct this pyramid, whose base covers almost 13 sections of land and whose peak once rose to 481 feet. The pyramid contains 2.3 million stone pieces that normal average 2.5 tons a piece. All in all, around 100 pyramids still brightens the Egyptian landscape. They are joined by handfuls of huge and little obelisks, which are pointed stone columns that the pharaohs and other conspicuous Egyptians built to commemorate their extraordinary deeds, adore the sun god Ra, and give enchanted security and stability for Egypt's tombs, sanctuaries, and
It is time for a rational explanation of how the pyramids were constructed--an explanation that relies on nothing extraordinary, technologically advanced, paranormal, supernatural, mystical, psychic, or extraterrestrial powers. The Egyptian pyramid's aesthetic beauty, its geometrical shape, its complex system of internal features, and the precision of its construction beckon us to search for a design scheme. It seems unlikely that the builders would have undertaken such a "monumental" construction project without a comprehensive plan. Unfortunately, no records, plans, blueprints, or direct accounts of the pyramid's construction have survived. There is no inscriptions or texts, and the names of the architects remain unknown.
The Great pyramids of Egypt are undoubtedly one of the most recognized and admired landmarks in the world. Built to pay tribute to gods and pharaohs, the pyramids were of great importance to the Egyptians, and the mystery of their construction continues to amaze us today. Many theories pertaining to how the pyramids were built have been suggested, however, none are as well supported or intelligible as the heave-ho method of quarrying and cutting limestone. Joseph Davidovits’ theory disproving this, in which states the pyramids were moulded, is not plausible. Substantial physical evidence which is consistent with the Egyptologists’ portrayal of the heave-ho method has been found. The entire process of building a pyramid with this method is possible, as demonstrated by thorough experiments and analysis of the Egyptian culture. Indisputably, the Great Pyramids of Giza were constructed by quarrying limestone, and the use of ramps, sleds, and cutting tools, owing to the ingenuity and strength of highly organized Egyptian workers.
When thinking of Egypt we usually think of pharaohs, King Tut, Queen Nefertiti, and one of Egypt's most magnificent man-made structures the pyramids. The pyramids were a reflection of the role that each pharaoh or king played in Egyptian society. Underneath the pyramids were rooms that were a network of galleries, air shafts, chambers, and a room that held the mummified body of a pharaoh surrounded by treasures that were carried into the afterlife. The peak of pyramid building began in the late third dynasty and continued until the 6th dynasty. More than 4,000 years laters these pyramids are the most spectacular monuments to Egyptian beliefs and to the glory of its pharaohs.
Although the precise age of the pyramids has long been debated, and there is little evidence to prove when the pyramids were built, some assume that they were built from about 2700 to 2500 BC. Another issue that has been long debated is who exactly built the pyramids. Some researchers find it hard to believe that the pyramids could have been built in one pharaoh’s lifetime. Herodotus is the earliest known historian of the Egyptian Pyramid Age. By his accounts, and estimated guess, more than 100,000 people worked on the pyramid; other researchers believe that it was more like 20,000 people who worked on the pyramid. Now they have to try and figure out where these 20,000 people lived. They would like to know where they lived because the researchers think that it will help them find out more about these people, where they are from, and their daily lives. Inscriptions were found on the outside of the pyramids that give an idea of what people worked on them, but the inscriptions were in no absolute detail. Skeletons that were found on the inside of the pyramid are believed to be the skeletons of workers who labored on the pyramids all year long.
