Throughout my school career I have accomplished a perfect, 4.0 GPA. I have straight A’s and I have participated in many advanced school programs. Last year I received the presidential award for a perfect GPA. During this school year I am in two advanced classes (GT and Honors Math). I am participating and have participated in many after school activities. Currently, I am in the Idaho Falls Youth Symphony and I take after school art lessons once a week. This school year I joined the cross country team. I plan to take part in track this year also. Earlier this year I also participated in the youth cultural celebration for the Idaho Falls Temple. In high school I was involved in 3 clubs, 3 varsity sports, and did a least 40 hours of community service through National Honors Society and National Technical Honors Society. I participated in National Technical Honors Society and Health Occupations Students of America(HOSA) through Lapeer County Education and Technical center, and participated in athletics at Imlay City high school. During my high school career I played varsity volleyball for two years, varsity basketball for one year, and varsity soccer for four years, but I jumped back and forth from junior varsity to varsity my freshman year. Also, while being apart of HOSA I was a junior representative my junior year of high school, and I am Vice-President my senior year. And I also mentor our middle school chapter of HOSA and help them to accomplish all of their competitive events.
During the time I’ve been in high school I’ve participated in the Hamtramck High School Marching Band both freshman and sophomore years, Physics Olympiad during sophomore year, chess club during freshman year and a drafting competition (the Engineering Society of Detroit, where my group and I won $30,000 scholarship each) during freshman year. Outside of school, I helped out at my local place of worship, the Al-Islah Islamic Center. During the summer, I would volunteer to help the kids improve their reading of our holy book (the Quran). Also the prayer leader (Imam) of the mosque was writing theses instructional Islamic books and he asked me to help him write and edit them. I plan to do more things outside of school and also participate in more clubs next year like robotics and government.
With the help of the Me To We team at Queen Street Public School, I volunteered at a local food bank. The experience was quite educational and fascinating. We encouraged staff and students to donate non-perishable food items for the "We Scare Hunger" campaign. This was definitely a highlight of my grade five year because I felt very humble and warm-hearted by doing a simple act of kindness. In addition, I was chosen to participate in the "Intergenerational" program. This was created so that grade five students can learn more from the elders of the Burton Manor senior home. We had the privilege to learn about their history and interact with them through several educational and fun activities. If accepted, I will indeed join several clubs and teams to contribute my time and talents to make the school an exciting learning
My first experience that involved contribution to a community was in an organization known as girls as pearls. In this organization we participated in many volunteer activities, both domestic and global such as making dresses for girls in africa or volunteering at the samaritan ministry. Consequently, this early volunteerism experience influenced my involvement in the community as a high school student. I became involved in organizations such as key club, an organization focused in volunteerism. Additionally, I began to tutor middle school students and volunteering at the local church. Many of the volunteer activities that I have participate in involved children and this due to the reason that I want to be able to become a positive guide and role model for children. I want to contribute to their motivation of continuing their education and to reach for goals that they believe they can achieve. As a hispanic american I have been provided the opportunity of experiencing life from two different viewpoints which has provided me with various life lessons that aided in my development in becoming a successful and well- rounded

The second activity I engage in, is Music Council. In September of 2014 I founded the first Music Council in my school and have served as President since. My GPA is low; about a 2.7. I have been to many different high schools. I have not been academically successful. However, I do fairly well on standardized tests ACT 30 and SAT M660 V640.
Over the years I have been very involved in my community and school. Being a part of something helps to define who you are as a person and the principles and values you hold as important. A personal experience that helps to show my talents and skills can be illustrated by my trip to Italy last April with the MHS Language Department.
My academic career has been quite good. Currently, I have a GPA of 3.575, according to Powerschool, and have seven 90s and one 100 in my eight classes. I have always succeeded academically and have always been proud of it.
I have qualified for the dean's list three of the last four semesters, currently carry a 3.59 junior/senior GPA and a 3.75 GPA in my major. I also have been accepted into Psi Chi and belong to the Psychology Club on campus.
.... Despite having a full time job that I need to support my family and myself and being a full time student, I was able to maintain a 3.9 GPA. I was awarded a Certificate of Commendation for achieving the Dean’s List several times. In the fall of 2011, I was invited to Sigma Beta Delta, international honor society for business, management, and administration.
As much as this class has grown together, every one of us has also grown as a unique individual. We have found our talents and interests. These interests have drawn us to different activities and in turn helped shape our lives. Some of us have excelled academically while others have helped improve Summer High School by participating in activities such as Link Crew or ASB. Some of us acted in plays while others shared their musical talents by singing in the choir or performing with our outstanding band. Many of us have preferred to be involved in community service with a group like KEY Club. In addition to these school activities, many of us have invested time in jobs and other community activities.
Aside from school I have always been active within my community mainly through youth sports. I have been a volunteer coach for over 8 years now and have managed to juggle coaching throughout my time in college. I coach at Arvada High School, where I am also a tutor for several of their student athletes, as well as through the APEX where I coach youth flag football in the Fall and Spring for kids aged 4-6, and basketball in the winter.
After speaking with Dr. Kelly Sass and Byron Bork about my application this past application cycle, the weakest parts of my application are my GRE score and GPA. We had discussed how they were below average and that re-taking the GRE and taking a graduate-level course would be two good options. While I did work hard and diligently throughout college, always improving my GPA each semester, I knew when I was applying that my science GPA was lower than Iowa’s accepted average. That alone did not stop me from applying to a school that I wish so badly to attend. I did what I could control from the moment I sent in my application last July and I strived to get A’s in all my courses my senior year. I ended my senior year with my highest semester GPA
