In life, humans face an immense amount of challenges. Whether you were raised in a nice and loving home, or in a tough neighborhood, the people that surround you help you gain skills and wisdom. I myself was raised in a bit of both - a tough childhood, but with a lesson learned everyday. Not only have these experiences helped me with my everyday life, but they have shaped me into the person I am today. For example, my greatest influence came from the house I grew up in. Being raised in a small house with not much, I was forced to make the most out of my resources. An unfortunate event occurred at an early age. My mother suffered an injury that caused her to be unemployed for the majority of my childhood. Although it may sound harsh, my mother was no role model for me. She had a wide array of opportunities to get back on her feet and I saw her just stay there at the house. I vividly remember her not being concerned to help us or herself. He maintained two jobs and did the most to provide for a family of five. He woke up early everyday and took me to school, he did the hard work to pay the bills, he was the man of the house. Almost everyday of every summer, I would accompany him to his job at the warehouse. I saw firsthand how difficult a job like that was. The job consisted of arduous hard tasks that constantly required getting our hands dirty. Going with him was one of the best choices I made as a child -I reciprocated his hard work to apply it to my everyday life. My Dad is my biggest role model, if it was not for him, I would not have made an effort in school. The best advice he told me was to stay in school so I would not have to be stuck in a warehouse like him. Education is essential and important for my future, and my dad helped me realize that.
