Tough depicts the college conundrum as a prevalent matter in America’s higher education system, and investigates the cause of this national phenomenon. He describes the college conundrum when he states, “Why are so many American students dropping out of college just as a college degree has become so valuable and just as young people in the rest of the world have begun to graduate in such remarkable numbers?” (Tough 150). He illustrates the disturbing trend of an exponential growth in college dropouts rates in America, even when a bachelor’s degree is seen as a valuable asset, and graduation rates in other countries have considerably risen in comparison. Subsequently, Tough sought to uncover the root causes for this complication. As a result,

I am a hardworking individual and I take my academics very seriously. I understand that I am at school for a purpose and know my purpose is to further my education. I am just trying to make it. My parents always told me growing up “ In order to get something you never had that I will have to do things I have never done.” No one prepared me for college, because I am a first generation college student. In addition to being a first generation college student ; I am also a first generation high school graduate. I use my my parents trials and tribulations as my motivation, because I want
Everyone has character, yet it is the way that you mold character that is important. I am open to feedback and will accept any recommendations that are offered. I am always willing to grow as a person and view others’ insights as doors to that growth. I am honest and open, and proudly represent Windham High School as well as the greater community of Windham. I am dedicated to whatever I undertake; whether it be that I am volunteering as an SSP or petsitting animals for a week. Being a leader is inseparable with a good character. I try to lead by example, be it picking up a piece of garbage in the halls or by just refusing to say a discriminatory word.

The first of these characteristics is my hard working mentality, and I am sure that this characteristic is thrown around a lot by candidates but I believe that I truly work harder than most people are willing to. I have had to earn every ounce of everything that I currently have. Whether it was finally getting into Pitt, or playing football at the DII college level the only reason I have ever been able to attain these achievements is that I put in the time, and worked harder than even I thought was possible for myself, I was never the most naturally gifted person in the world, I had to work hard, or I would not be in the position to even apply for a position such as this. Another thing that I feel differentiates myself is that I have experience in many different academic disciplines, I was not that student that simply took my major classes, and easy classes to get through school. I have taken and have a ton of interest in many different topics such as Political Science, and History. I feel that these multifaceted interests, and course history make me a great candidate for the
Three aspects of my personality are avoidant, high on conscientiousness and a high need for achievement. These personality characteristics were studied using different theories, the attachment theory, Big Five, and the motivational theory. Together, these aspects make me who I am. I am someone who is driven, hard working, disciplined, and has a hard time trusting and letting other people into my personal life. Everyone has their different personality traits which make them unique, and that’s the beauty of humans. No one is exactly like anyone
One of my greatest skills is being able to be compassionate towards others. By placing myself into someone else’s shoes, I find myself being able to better understand where other people are coming from. I am an extremely caring person that will go to great lengths for anyone. I can easily overlook the differences in other people, and this is what helps me get along with almost anyone that I come across. In order to lead people in a positive direction you need to be able to relate to them on a more personal level. It is much easier when people feel comfortable around their leader. I always like to lend a helping hand or even a shoulder to cry on when it is needed. My strengths include integrity, optimism, faith, innovation, and adaptability. These strengths are important to have in leadership positions. Leaders should have a firm hold on their beliefs and morals in order to have a positive impact on people. Keeping my commitments is crucial to me, because I am a woman of my word. I think this is a good trait in leadership, because people need to be able to count on the person that they look up to. Optimism is also something I value. I belie...
"Tomorrow is the first day of what I will become." I wrote this in my diary the night before my first day of college. I was anxious as I imagined the stereotypical college room: intellectual students, in-depth discussions about neat stuff, and of course, a casual professor sporting the tweed jacket with leather elbows. I was also ill as I foresaw myself drowning in a murky pool of reading assignments and finals, hearing a deep, depressing voice ask "What can you do with your life?" Since then, I've settled comfortably into the college "scene" and have treated myself to the myth that I'll hear my calling someday, and that my future will introduce itself to me with a hardy handshake. I can't completely rid my conscience from reality, however. My university education and college experience has become a sort of fitful, and sleepless night, in which I have wonderful dreams and ideas, but when I awaken to apply these aspirations, reality sounds as a six thirty alarm and my dreams are forgotten.
As a college student I am faced with many situations throughout my daily life, while I believed I maintain a certain consistent personality through the process of this paper I was able to identify how my personality differed or stayed the same based on situations I was in. Through the course of this study, I was able to identify when five of what I feel are my most prominent personality traits were most prevalent and how they changed depending on the situation. The five personality traits I chose were humorous, imaginative, sarcastic, optimistic, and helpful. The situations I choose to look at were me in class, at work, with a friend, with family, and when I was alone studying.
What is meant by personality? Enduring Characteristics (Personality Traits) that describe an individual’s behavior. The virgin media look up for some good job candidates with good personality traits. (Robins, Judge and Vohara, 2013)
The best characteristic about me, though, is that I am remarkably well improvising and figuring the situation of everything around me permitting me to fine-tune to my atmosphere. I was able to make many friends, on my first year alone; even though, most were seniors, therefore when it was the close of the school year they all left for substantial goals in their lives. Thinking back to all the enriching and enjoyable times shared with my friends, makes me miss
Learning this about myself will help me become a better employee at work. I am able to see how my personality affects my work and relationships. It will allow me to learn a little more about myself and how I interact with my co-workers. I find that my beliefs (values that define me) also are a part of my personality. This also has an effect on my relationships at work. For example, knowing right from wrong when faced with an ethical situation at work. All of these elements play a part in my personality and behavior at work. It makes me want to be a successful

In conclusion, personality is the characteristics of one self that others can judge you as an individual and put you in some type of box. Personality is important in some ways but we should not just base life one it to please other people or to be accepted by society. we should make money and be happy and achieve our goals and be successful. I leave you with a quote from Steve Jobs I like. Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out you inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truely want to become, Everything else is secondary. This is so true about the life we live on a daily basis.
