One man who has proven worthy is Elon Musk, a South African born American/Canadian business man, multi billionaire, engineer, and founder of SpaceX. Musk has plans to beat N.A.S.A to Mars. Not only that be he has invented a motorized car that can go over seven hundred horse power. Elon Musk will be proven as a tragic hero throughout his conquest, accomplishments, and traits.

Musk’s biggest goal is yet to be complete, but the visions of his dreams may be able to be turned into reality. Meaning that Musk has the potential for great things in his lifetime, and become part of history. As Musk works there are numerous hours of work put into his project, checking everything multiple times throughout the day, and pulverizing his problems to move to the next one. Musk had many problems with the “Red Dragon” rocket that he planned to use to get to Mars. “The solution is to introduce some di-harmony into the system, to design some of the engines to sing sharp or flat or otherwise off-key.” (Why You Should Take Elon Musk’s 2018 Mars Shot Seriously, Pg.4). The problem was the vibration of the engines, and the possibility that the frequencies would be shaking the space ship, making it where it could possibly dismantle itself. By adding dis-harmony to the space engines, it would reduce the likeliness of this happening. Musk faces very complicated and difficult problems. This shows that Musk is dedicated to his goals, and that he will achieve them no matter the hardships he faces. Elon Musk indeed has potential for
A hero is an individual who sacrifices their own concerns for a greater good. Before Andrew Carnegie’s birth, television, radio, movie/t.v stars, basketball, and football didn’t exist. However, after the Civil War, railroads were under construction which connected New York with California. Andrew Carnegie was born in November 1835, in the attic of a cottage in Dunfermline, Scotland. Andrew Carnegie grew up poor and started school at the age of eight with 150 students in one room. His family decided to move to America in 1848. At the age of twelve, Andrew started working and he soon worked himself up as a supervisor of the Penny’s entire Western Division. Carnegie officially owned the Carnegie Steel Corporation in 1889, which was the largest
Philanthropy; the desire to promote the welfare of others, expressed especially by the generous donation of money to good causes. Nobody better fits this definition than Andrew Carnegie. Carnegie had a beginning in poverty and after migrating to the United States he became the richest man in the world because of his steel business. After reaching such high success Carnegie ultimately decided to use his fortune to help people. Carnegie believed that his fortune should be spent on benevolent purposes, stating that “the man who dies rich dies disgraced” (The Gospel Of Wealth). Thus he donated millions of dollars to charities and foundations. Yet the question still
Loewen defines heroification as “a degenerative process (much like calcification) that makes people over into heroes” (Loewen 11). During this process, negative or controversial facts are often ignored or altered in regards to these heroes, which create “perfect creatures without conflicts, pain, credibility, or human interest (Loewen 11). When one changes or omits facts concerning figures in history for this type of glorification, we are left with an invented story of the event or person; in other words, history has become a myth. History textbooks are filled with these types of glorifications, especially older texts. The purpose of heroification is to present events or people in a favorable light and to give ideal role models in which to follow. In my own words, I call Loewen’s heroification an effective form of brainwashing. For example, I was always taught that the Civil War was fought to free slaves, but later learned this war was about states succeeding from the Union. Many people still believe the Emancipation Proclamation’s purpose was to free the slaves; however, it was actually the last resort Lincoln used to win the Civil War. Of course, this is not how these events were portrayed to most of us in History class. Heroification alters the purpose of these events so that we, as citizens, can feel proud that America did away with slavery because our forefathers felt it was morally wrong. Loewen also points out how heroification can lead to role models in the case of Helen Keller, “the blind and deaf girl who overcame her physical handicaps, as an inspiration to generations of schoolchildren” (Loewen 12). The problem with Keller being used as an exemplary model for American schoolchildren is that only her early life is portr...
From hitting No. 1 on the charts to rehabilitation centers, Britney Spears was a 90’s icon who had many ups and downs in her life. She faced obstacles and challenges, but still found time to produce No. 1 singles and albums. Anyone could be a hero. Age, race, religion, and personalities do not limit one from being a hero. A hero is someone people admire for their actions. One moment they could be admired by people, in another moment, they could be despised. Donald Trump is a fine example of this.
America gained an influential philanthropist and businessman when Andrew Carnegie rose to success through his steel company. Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919), was a Scottish immigrant who emigrated to the United States after his father found it hard to find work. After settling near Lake Erie, Carnegie regretted not having an education but took advantage of a personal library that provided access to any boys working there. Carnegie worked his way up through many positions such as a telegraph messenger, personal secretary, and head of the Pittsburgh division to become a successful steel company businessman. Was Andrew Carnegie: The Father of Vertical Integration, a hero? A hero is someone who has financial success, intelligence, and concern for others.
What is a hero to you? Is it an individual that saves lives? A person that does good in the world? Or do you simply think of your mom as a hero? In everyday life we encounter heros, whether it is a policeman or even a librarian. A person doesn’t need to save the world, or be like Superman in order to be considered a hero. It can be the simplest thing from you helping somebody open their locker to even holding the door open for someone as they pass. Andrew Carnegie was the hero of his time, with his benevolence and goodwill. Carnegie was a hardworking boy pushing through poverty to help his family. His intelligence and wisdom helped him evolve into a philanthropist. Later in life he became the richest man of his time era. Still with all his riches and fortune Carnegie was a man of generosity always trying to find a way to give back to his community, he stayed humble as well. The big question of it all is, “ Did Andrew Carnegie’s philanthropy of wealth make him a hero?” From the documents I’ve read I can conclude yes, Andrew Carnegie’s philanthropy of wealth did make him a hero.

When I think of a hero I immediately think of someone who is strong, intelligent, handsome, and daring. Upon closer examination, many different qualities than these become apparent. Courage, honesty, bravery, selflessness, and the will to try are just a few of the overlooked qualities of a hero. The definition of heroism changes with the context and time. Heroes of the past are not necessarily heroes of present time and vise versa.
The global leader I have selected has so many qualities that words are not enough to describe his success and his effect in the way we live and see life.
