I am going to be talking about what the Kingdom of Heaven did wrong in the movie. The movie was set during the second crusade which was in the 12th century. I will be going into detail about the longbow, the trebuchet, and the medical discussion they had about bone marrow in the blood. There are a lot more thing the movie got wrong but these are just a few things I have chosen to talk about. I am going to give information about real events and information on the weapons they used in the movie. Then there will be a conclusion of the movie telling if it was historically correct. There were a few things the movie did get right. The first thing I would like to talk about would be the use of the longbow. The longbow was invented around 1180 C.E..According to fourriverscharter.org, it was built by a man named Celts in Wales. The …show more content…
According to britannica.com, Jerusalem has some fertile areas. In the movie it made Jerusalem look flat and open. In real life Jerusalem was more hilly than flat. In the movie jerusalem was a sandy desert. In Jerusalem it is more dry dirt with some sand on the outskirts.
The third thing in the movie is the conversation of bone marrow in blood. Bone marrow was found before the 12th century so they could have known about it during the crusades. According to “The origins of bone marrow as the seedbed of our blood bone marrow was not understood or looked into until the 19th century”. So they wouldn't have known the effects of bone marrow getting into blood. So the conversation would not have happen because they did not have the knowledge. Bone marrow can kill you if it gets into the blood system by getting into your heart.
The movie Kingdom of Heaven was a good movie but they did get a lot of things wrong. So don't believe everything you see in movies. They did get somethings right to so it evens it out. Kingdom of Heaven is not a historically accurate
Long distance weapons were essential to European combat. The main long distance weapons used by Europeans during that time were the longbow and the crossbow. Each form of weaponry had its unique advantages and their pejorative. The long bow (shown in figure 1) was the original form of distance weapons. The term ‘bow’ means to be made from wood, iron or steel. The Welsh, who inhabited England, were the first people to use longbows. Longbows were 6-7 feet long and had a range of 250 yards, and still had the ability to pierce a knight’s armor (Byam 12). A well trained archer could shot 10- 12 arrows in a single minute. Despite these pro’s the longbow had a lot of disadvantages as well. One draw back was only skilled archers, who were costly to train, could use a longbow. Another disadvantage was it didn’t have a ready loaded arrow (Edge 34). The crossbow (shown in figure 2) on the other had been emphatically different. The crossbow had a span of 2-3 feet and could kill a knight on horseback with one shot, because of good aim (Byam 30). Crossbows had ready loaded projectiles, while the longbow didn’t and the crossbow could be used by anyone since it didn’t require any skill. The crossbow did have a down side though, it had slow reloaded because of a crank and it was expensive. Crossbows were also used for other thi...
* One major advance was the creation of composite bows. Around 2,800 B.C. people began blending different materials together to create better bows. The Egyptians of these times had long composite bows capable of shooting an arrow up to 400 yards!
The First Crusade ended with the same thing it started, and the same thing it was originally-with massacre and slaughter.
In this paper it will tell and describe almost everything about Celtic warriors. This paper will have the different weapons and armor that the Celtics used in combat. Also, there will be information about the different fighting tactics that they used on the battle field. And you cannot know these things without knowing the origin of the Celtic cross and how it came about. In conclusion this is what this essay will be teaching.
The longbow was very crucial to the English military. In this paper I will tell people about the English longbow and how dominant it was it their military. One will be surprised by the dominance of the longbow. I will tell one about wars, power, and draw a weight.
Overall the movie The Prince of Egypt is mostly accurate in its plot with some exceptions for keeping the entertainment and focus of the young audience. Firstly the plot of the characters was fairly accurate but had some inaccuracies for entertainment and focus purposes. In addition the setting was very accurate coming out as the most accurate aspect of the movie. Finally the characters of the film are nearly accurate but have some changes to keep the main character as Moses because the movie is about
food. They had a war club with also was made for war and hunting was made out of a stone

God’s Battalions: The Case for the Crusades by Rodney Stark, will cause readers to question much of what they know about the Crusades, the Crusaders themselves, and the formidable Muslim forces they encountered along the way in liberation of the Holy Land. Stark gives compelling reasons for the Crusades, and argues that readers should not be too quick in following the lead of historians who cast the Crusaders in less than positive light. Stark makes his case supported by evidence that vindicates the valiant struggles of the Crusaders who accomplished the task of keeping Christianity alive through troubled times.
Just as the Second Crusade began with two different figures, the mission continued to grow into an increasingly disjointed and divided project. ...
After discussing this movie in class it all makes sense. All the details that I missed throughout the movie I saw when we started discussing it. I saw most of the religious themes, some like the pale horse evaded me. This was a great movie and one that I would recommend to anyone. The way that it is written and the way that is was played out is amazing. I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface with the meanings behind this movie.
Between the 11th and 13th century the Crusades have been fought by many dauntless knights who wanted to protect the Holy Land. They encountered many problems, however they were driven with their goal in mind. They thought that "protecting the Holy L...
After the failure of those charges, the Christians gave up. Many of them just laid on the ground, collapsed with exhaustion. The Muslims rounded up the Christians, killing the knights and Raynald, and selling into slavery many more. He let King Guy go free however, saying “It is not the wont of kings to kill kings”.
Jerusalem is the beholder of a violent, yet religious, past. It is the holy center for three of the world’s major religions: Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. It was the center for many battles and the motivation for the Crusades. The Crusades were the cause for much blood shed and marked the beginning of a long war between Islam and Christianity. However, most of the focus in history of this holy center begins with the Crusades and continues there after, so this is where the essay will be focused: the times and history of Jerusalem before the Crusades.
In the movie “Kingdom of Heaven”, it was about the Christians and the Muslims fighting. The Christians, at the time, had the city of Jerusalem. The Muslims were fighting to get back Jerusalem in the movie, there were many big historical inaccuracies. Most of them were done by the director of the movie. In this essay I will state the inaccuracies of some of the relationships, ice, and longbows.
