Do you think Christmas decorations should be displayed during Thanksgiving? I think they should not be displayed until after Thanksgiving because I mean its Thanksgiving then Christmas not “Thanksmas.” On the other hand, they’re people who disagree and think Christmas decorations should be displayed during & Thanksgiving.
To start off, Thanksgiving deserves to stand on its own. Christmas & Thanksgiving often get lumped together and its not right. They both are two different holidays with two different meanings. Christmas decorations should not be displayed during Thanksgiving because people do not want to hear Christmas music or see Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving. In a article it says, “…You can only see and hear it for so
long before the meaning gets lost” and that’s exactly why it should be displayed after Thanksgiving. Secondly, decorating for Christmas early may mean getting tired of the decorations by mid-December and that completely defeats the purpose. Some people say decorating earlier is better so its done and they don’t have to worry about it when December comes. I get that, but I also believe their is plenty of time to decorate after Thanksgiving. In a article I read it said, “For some people, the long weekend will offer the perfect time to get started, but there’s also no rule that you have to have everything decorated by December 1.” They’re completely right. Lets all just take a deep breath and enjoy Thanksgiving first. On the other hand, they’re people who disagree. They believe its better to decorate during Thanksgiving. One reason why they think this is because they want to get the on sale decorations and because they feel that the Christmas season goes by to fast. To finish off, that is why people think we should decorate during & after Thanksgiving. Do you think we should decorate after or during Thanksgiving?
When the great holiday of Thanksgiving comes to mind, most people think of becoming total gluttons and gorging themselves with a seemingly unending amount of food. Others might think of the time spent with family and friends. The whole basis of the holiday is family togetherness, fellowship, and thankfulness for blessings received during the previous year.
This is a disgrace! To all the turkey’s at Thanksgiving! forty-five million turkey’s are cooked a year. Not only are those awful humans eating us, now they are entrapping us in disgusting cages and making us eat only corn and soybeans. That’s not even the worst part, they put something in our food called vitamins and minerals. I heard yesterday from keith, my turkey friend, that they talk about how they feed turkeys healthy things so that the people who buy the turkeys won’t get sick or something like that. They also say we taste different at different ages.

Textbooks in today’s schools still tell the same story that has been handed down from generation to generation. Every year children dress up and put on plays about the famous story of the first Thanksgiving. No one knows the truth though or at least people pretend to not know the embarrassing truth of our “founding fathers.” Textbooks today give the candy coated version of good saintly Englishmen come to a better world and find good neighbors willing to help in their time of need.
When I think about Thanksgiving and Christmas, the first thought that comes to mind is the good food. Every year my family and I prepare many homemade dishes to celebrate the holidays. For Thanksgiving, my family and I will go all out the way in preparing dinner. We will actually start preparing the food two days in advance, so we can make sure that we have everything is prepared. The food is traditional with Thanksgiving, turkey, ham, collard greens, yams, stuffing, egg nog, cranberry sauce and sweet potato pie. For Christmas, my family does not prepare as much food as we do ...
A big part of Thanksgiving is a Thanksgiving feast. The feast usually consists of potatoes, corn, sweet potatoes, peas, gravy, stuffing, salads, buns and lots of other great food. The main part of the feast is usually the turkey. Other families might have ham, roast beef, duck or chicken. The dessert that is most likely to follow the feast is pumpkin pie. Other people may choose different desserts and food depending on their customs and beliefs for which they choose to give thanks. Let’s not forget the biggest and most important reason for this holiday – giving THANKS! People usually give thanks for everything they have. Their jobs, health, families or just being alive are just a few of the things that people give thanks for.
Christmas is a special time of year that deserves to be remembered for its true meaning. Every year, Christmas becomes more and more commercialized and society forgets the origin of Christmas. It was not started with cookies, toys, and a fat man that delivers them, but instead it started with a humble inn where our Savior was born. The definition of Christmas is “a holiday on December 25 celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.” Nowhere in that definition does it say anything about the outrageous pressure society has set on consumers to buy, buy, buy during the Christmas season. Christmas is about presence not presents.
Today it seems as though Christmas has fallen victim to materialism and commercialization. Rather than it being a time of loving and giving, it has become a stressful season of greed. Amidst all the hustle and bustle, it is important for us to recognize the true reason of the season, and celebrate in a fashion that exemplifies that reason.
Some of us wait for it all year, and once it is over, we wait once more. Thanksgiving provides the human experience with the rekindling of family relationships, lessons of giving, and supplies us with something to look forward to. Thanksgiving rekindled my relationship with my grandmother and has the power to fix a broken family. I had recently come out to my whole family and my grandmother did not agree.
Every year when the day after Thanksgiving rolls around, employees and shoppers never know what to expect from the shopping madness.
According to the budget both my husband and I are able to bring in $3,160 after all or expenses are paid for the month. This is the ideal amount and this is how much we bring home in a good month. This was possible due to getting a second job , refinancing or mortgage payment, and having my mother watch our three children for cheaper than any daycare out there. This just became recent since I just started back in the work field last month so saving money hasn’t been possible for us. We are planning on the the extra surplus we receive and putting it towards debt payments and saving account. As of right now my goal for putting money into savings is a minimum of $1,000 a month.
On a Tuesday evening, I had a conflict with my fiancé about what restaurant we should go to for dinner. The conflict was interpersonal it involved two separate people. My fiancé wanted to eat simple cuisine. He wanted a hamburger or pasta, while I on the other hand was craving seafood. Our dilemma was that we both adamantly wanted to consume different food. My fiancé generally values simplicity while I value the idea of variety and I usually tend to be adventurous with food. I responded to the conflict by competing and attempting to promote my preferences. My argument was that we habitually eat pasta and simple meals on most occasions due to their convenience and accessibility. My fiancé unfortunately does not favor or appreciate seafood. He also suggested that we carefully screen
Who can argue about Christmas not being the best time of the year? Yes, Christmas triggers strong emotions which many cannot ignore. From emotion of love to the emotion of pity; Christmas never fails to bring it out. Christmas is the magic that everyone believes in. From little children who stay up in the wee night of Christmas Eve to hear Santa’s sleigh to adults whose hopes and dreams were once shattered are restored. Even though it is rather difficult to argue about Christmas, there are actually some people out there who dare to bacon the call.
The pagan customs associated with Christmas are clearly condemned in the scriptures. Jeremiah says we should not learn the way of the Gentiles and we are not to learn it nor practice it and incorporate it into the Christian worship. And lest some think this is simply an Old Testament command that no longer applies, the apostle Paul makes the same point in the New Testament. He addresses whether unbiblical religious customs and practices have any place in the worship of God’s people. Jesus Christ warned against worshiping him in vain and teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Holidays are a celebration and an enjoyment of festivities. Although they are a commonality across the world, holidays differ between countries and cultures. But, what many do not realize is that holidays are ultimately ideology driven, that is that the group that celebrates these holidays follows a certain set of ideas and beliefs. Whether the ideology is religion based, or politically based, all holidays are centered around ideologies.
