What Is Ulta's Ethical Dilemma?

Considering I have been working for their competition, Sephora, for the past three years, I understand and empathize with Ulta employees. We are in an extremely similar area of work and I have the prior knowledge of what issues their employees may encounter on a surface level; I am not sure of their management style. Therefore, I decided to ask five open-ended questions to clarify their feelings toward inconsistent scheduling, contracting brands that utilize animal testing, initiating Black Friday on Thanksgiving day, ethics of the company, and how satisfied are they overall in the workplace.
The first question read, “Working in retail means there are various days when you have longer shifts, standing on your feet for multiple hours, and shorter shifts that could hinder your paycheck. One employee voiced, “I don’t find myself questioning the ethics of Ulta on a daily basis. The only time I find myself questioning their ethics is on the topic of Black Friday and slightly on animal testing.” Another employee stated, “I believe Ulta is a very ethical place. They do not discriminate with any of their clients or employees based on their race, gender, religious beliefs, or sexual orientation. They care about everyone they meet and ensure their training with us reflects that.
