It is shown that all over the world, no matter where you live, there is another society solemnly based on social media that kid’s today worship. If one is not actively posting or constantly gaining attention to maintain their popularity, than they will never be able to reach their main goal in life which is to be considered “cool.” Isn’t that tragic? The society kid’s today have been placed in recognizes the little attributes that are worthless to many. The ones that have made the sacrifice and fought the pain are the people who will never take life for granted. Being homeless, abused and the devastating feeling of not being loved. These are the humans with these attributes that would never take anything for granted again. The Teen Project is an organization that I have been a part of that is for teenagers who have aged out of the foster care system. These individuals have had experiences that no one could ever imagine they would face, especially kids of today. These people were not fighting and concerned on who got the most instagram likes on their latest post, they did not have video games to worry about winning on, they were rather dedicated to surviving in the life they had been given. Technology today is more relied upon than ever before. If one needs to call someone half way around the world, simply take out a cell phone and dial their number. Within thirty seconds, one can be speaking to that person just as if two people were conversing face-to-face. In the same manner, one has access to endless knowledge and resources by the push of a few buttons or the click of a mouse. The use of social media today is becoming more prevalent than ever before because of the convenience it offers.

Whenever a new technological advancement occurs there is concern over how it will affect society. In the case of social media, the concern is greatest for adolescents. Some of the effects of using social media can be depression, addiction, cyberbullying and exposure to inappropriate content.
