Everybody is from different walks of life some might be similar but never the same. The world is a diversity of human beings, which makes it so beautiful in different perspectives. People’s lives can be very happy and successful and for others can be in misery and hell it depends what choices we make or in some cases you don’t have the luxury to pick. How we all view the world differently has to do with social class, nurture, surroundings, and experiences that mold the perspective we have in life. Environment plays a big influence on an individual’s life, but as life changes we make choices that truly defines who we are. Social Class status can’t be chosen when you’re born you’re just born in to it. Social class can determine the level …show more content…
Childhood is a big aspect in how our confidence and demeanor project the person we are today. Having important figures in our lives psychologically help us live a easier and happier life by having a loving family or loving friends that motivate us, guide us, and listen in our good times and bad times. In vice versa having no emotional attention while growing up can lead to having little confidence and having psychological discomfort. The people that gave me that attention and care are my parents they are the reason who I am today because they showed me love and support are big roles in molding an adult more than materialistic objects. Surroundings the people we tend to call friends and the culture we follow. The phrase “tell me your friends, and I’ll tell you who you are” I believe this tends to be true. The friends at this moment in life are the people that have common interest with, similar life goals and morals. I believe its good to make new friends that are smart because it brushes off and tend to strive for more to become a better version of yourself, which is the whole point of living. My biggest influence was my father he told me “choose your friends don’t let them choose
As much as society tries to deny the fact that the family that one comes from determines their fate, in almost every case this very fact is true. Today, we see how infants who are born into wealthy families are treated differently than children who are born into drug and disease-stricken poverty. Higher classed people stand out in society on both a local and national level much more than the average middle class working family.
However, to determine your place on the social ladder one needs economic and cultural reproduction. As DeMarrais and LeCompte state “wealth can be converted into social and cultural capital providing distinct non merit advantages that can be transferred to the children of the rich and powerful” (1999, 14). In other words, social capital and cultural capital are crucial assets. Likewise, as stated in The Meritocracy Myth “rather than viewing schooling as promoting democracy, social mobility, and equality, conflict theorists conceptualize schools as reproducing both the ideologies of the dominant social groups and the hierarchy of the class structure” (McNamee and Miller Jr. 2014,
Social class should not be used to define a person. Every person has the ability to overcome the roadblocks that society has placed in their path, so long as they have the determination and motivation. In Gerald Graff’s article, “Hidden Intellectualism” , he explains how social class is irrelevant when it comes to education, despite what society will lead you to believe. He displays how everyone is intelligent in his or her own way.Lynda Barry during her article, “ The Sanctuary of School” spoke about the importance of education to her and many other students like her.Another writer, Mike Rose shows how despite the thoughts that society puts in our heads we can still be successful in his article “Blue Collar Brilliance”.Regardless of social
In most societies there are variations in the levels of wealth, material possession, power, and authority amongst individuals. These variables are usually related to one’s occupation, race and the diversity of access to things like education and health care. All of these resources impact individual status in society, and take part in classifying people into social classes. Precise social class is difficult to identify, as it consists of two fundamental aspects. The objective aspect pertains to one’s occupation, race, age, and other solid facts; meanwhile the subjective aspect portrays one’s values, behaviorisms, and his/her way of life.
Friends have the biggest impact and influence in our lives. They can lead us to the path of success or path of failure. So everything that our parents have told us about choosing the right friends is absolutely true. As you get older, you realize that everything your parents have said or have taught you starts to make sense. You are more aware about situations and are a lot more careful so that you don't make mistakes like we often did when we were younger.
The story of Frankenstein opened on a ship at sea. The Captain of the ship was named Robert Walton. Robert and his crew were stuck in ice on their way to the north pole. While they waited to be freed from the ice, they noticed that a dog sled team passed them. It was led by a tall man. The next day the crew found a second dog sled team. They attempted to nurse the man back to health, and he began to tell his story. His name was Victor Frankenstein and he stated that he was a man fascinated with science. While he studied science, he discovered the secret to create life. Therefore, he decided to create a creature. He used body parts from a graveyard to make his creature. However, when he brought it to life, he was horrified by its appearance and abandoned it. Later, Victor received notice that his youngest brother, William, has been found murdered. Victor returned home to find that a family friend had been arrested for the murder. This was very shocking because he and his family believed that, Justine, the woman arrested for the murder, was incapable of committing such a vicious crime. Soon he realized that his creation killed William. Victor was confronted by his creation who explained how it had a difficult life. It explained that every human it came into contact with had rejected him. Therefore, the creation asked Victor if he would build him a suitable mate. However, this request was like an order, because the creature threatened to kill more people if Victor did not obey. Reluctantly, Victor agreed and began the process again. However, Victor destroyed his work while in the process of creating it. The creature, who was always watching, was angry with Victor. Victor disposed of the materials he was using ...
The class system places the individual in the social system based on his achieved status. This status is earned or chosen. This includes educational level, careers, and spouses.
It is always interesting to read about the different cultural, biological, and social influences, that impact our lives. No one is the same because our view on life is never the same. We can grow up together, surround ourselves with the same people, and our personality will not be the same. I have a twin sister, and we are total opposites. A lot of people believe if you are twins you must act the same, or do the same things. Even though we were raised in the same household, we have different views and characteristics. We had different friends, and were even put in different classes. We turned out different because we chose different paths.
Who is allowed to determine how valuable a person’s life is? The government has been putting a dollar sign value on a person’s life to help in various circumstances. The government has been trying to help relieve families of any overbearing debts their loved ones may have developed over their lifetime by giving them the money they would have made, had they not passed away. However, American’s have not adapted to this concept kindly. The government has good intentions behind sending families money to help pay for the loss of a loved one. However, family members are so emotionally distressed they see it as a negative gesture. Many believe the government is trying to make up for the loss of their loved one by paying them. The government has created various ways to help with the overwhelming costs of losing a loved one, however, most American’s agree there is no amount of money that will lessen the grief and pain the family feels.
When you spend time with friends you will notice that each one has a special personality that is different from anyone else. Friends have different traits and characteristics that create their individual personalities. For example, a good friend will show signs of a sense of humor, great advice, and honesty. Friends are very important to have in our lives because they are the backbone and support system when we face obstacles that are tough in our lives. Furthermore, friends are always there to love and comfort us through those hard times; showing their respect, honesty, loyalty, and care. There are three major types of friends, acquaintances, social friends, and best friends. Individuals inside of these major types has their own characteristics
Childhood is a big influencer on how someone grows and changes in the process of becoming an adult. I know for a fact my childhood affected me greatly. It has led me to who I am today.
On a conscious level, we rarely spend much time actually thinking about and classifying our friends. However, since I was a small child, my mother taught me to recognize and appreciate various types of friends. I have discovered that there are three different types of friends. I group them according to how well I know them and how well they know me. We encounter each type of friend everyday, whether in school, home, or at the gym. First, there are the "pest friends"- general acquaintances. Next, there are "guest friends"- social partners. Lastly, we have "best friends"- our true friends.
Social class is something everyone has pretty much from the moment their born but of course this
We are all created equal from the time we are born, but from that point on, our social class changes due to what family you were raised in and the level of prestige. What I didn’t understand at first was why being placed in a “social class” is so important if we are all created equal? What I’ve learned is that “social class” affects our entire lives. Our attitude and outlook upon life (early and late socialization) are affected. We have “social classes” because of war and theft. In tribal societies, people fought over food and land. Others were better at it, and were able to display their physical power to dominate others tribes. Karl Marx even went so far as to say that “ALL societies have been class societies”, and I would agree with him. Class has evolved over time. Feudal classes were designed to protect the power and privileges of the royal class against the peasant class. We have social classes because it 's nature. For example, look at wild dogs that are hungry and looking for food. The leader eats first and the others are last. Although I don’t care for the fact that “social class” is used to distinguisher against different kinds of people based on wealth, power, and prestige, but social class is nature and it’s all around us whether we like it or
Choosing proper friends is a bit difficult task but not impossible. We should have a group of friends who are disciplined and punctual individuals. This is essential because of the reason that we start becoming like the people we hang out with most. If for example one or two of our close friends are involved in bad habits such as smoking, drinking and taking drugs, sooner or later we will follow suit. This is the reason why it is advisable to make a proper choice when it comes to making friends. True friendship is as a matter of fact a blessing enjoyed by a few. Those who have it should thank God for having true gems in their lives and those who do not have a few good friends should constantly strive for new ways to secure good friends. No company is better than having a friend by your side in times of need. You will remain happy in your one room apartment if you are surrounded by your friends; on the other hand, you cannot find happiness even in your mansion if you are alone.
