A form of electromagnetic radiation of a wavelength, which human eyes have the ability of detecting is known as light. Light is a form of energy, that stimulates sight and makes objects visible. Light, mostly electrical light, plays an extremely important role in today’s modern society, as it is an important form of energy that allows humans to live the convenient life they currently live. One of the obvious uses of light energy in one’s daily life is to provide light, allowing one to see their surroundings and avoid living and working in the dark. Electric light is the most used form of artificial light, and is found to be used in almost everything, from providing interior lighting for building and houses, to providing exterior light for nighttime …show more content…
As artificial lights are created through the conversion of electrical energy, they are easily accessible in developed countries, as their governments would be able to provide sufficient amount of electricity legally. In addition, most people would also be able to afford the electricity being provided. However in poverty-stricken developing countries, this is unfortunately not the case. For example in the developing provinces of the Philippines, most citizens live in poverty, with each citizen of those provinces earning a salary of US $2 a day. At this rate of income, these poor citizens would not be able to invest in artificial lighting, as they would barely be able to purchase their essential …show more content…
In addition, the electricity does not reach the poor provinces of this country, and even though there are illegal connections, due to poverty the citizens cannot afford to invest in it. To help reduce this issue, Alfredo Moser invented Solar light bottles. Solar light bottles are a cheap and efficient way of providing light naturally through the use of materials that are easily accessible and through the use of sunlight. To create the solar light bottles, first find a one liter plastic bottle. Then, fill it with water mixed with bleach or chlorine. The bleach and chlorine will prevent mould growth, which allows the light bottle to last longer. The diagram on the last page, diagram 1, clearly explains how the solar light bottles are installed. Once the solar light bottle is installed, and the sun’s ray shines through the clear substance, which has a higher density, refraction occurs, which is the bending of light. When the process of refraction occurs, approximately fifty five watts-worth of light is evenly spread around the space where the light bottle is installed. The diagram on the last page, diagram 2, shows the process of
For new or retrofit construction, every choice can lead to energy savings; energy that is derived primarily from fossil fuels. The typical household LED replacement for a 60w light lasts about 50,000 hours. Pretending that an incandescent could also last that long, it would consume about 3,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy whereas the LE...
For thousands of years, before modern electrical lighting systems were developed, candles existed not for decoration but for the sole purpose of providing artificial light in millions of homes.
Light bulbs have helped American agriculture grow because they are currently used to keep small animals, like baby chickens, warm. Doing this can keep the baby chicken alive without its mother to keep it warm. We are now allowed to buy chickens and raise them easier and more efficiently.
Technological advances have come a long way since the incandescent light bulb. Today, the compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) is the most energy efficient light bulb on the market. In the beginning, consumers had resistance toward the CFL. With governmental support in establishing energy-efficient lighting programs, the CFL have been able to stay in the market and improve throughout the years.
Light! What is it? Where does it come from? What can we do with it to help humanity? It allows us to see the unknown the places that have been dark for years. It helps us see what is around us. Different sources of light can be used to power the things around us. Lightning is a source of light.

We depend on electromagnetic energy every moment of our lives, from watching TV to microwaving our food, without it our world would not be the same. Electromagnetic energy travels in waves, and has a very large range from long radio waves to very short gamma rays called the electromagnetic spectrum. The electromagnetic spectrum is the distribution of electromagnetic radiation according to energy, frequency, or wavelength. From radio waves to gamma rays, there are 7 types of light most not visible to the naked eye in the electromagnetic spectrum, which covers a wide range of wavelengths and photon energies. Different objects and living things detect different proportions of the spectrum, the human eye can only detect visible light, radios can detect a different portion of the spectrum, and an x-ray machine uses another portion.
The Light and Electromagnetic Spectrum both fall in the same category. in order to see the light or notice anything about the electromagnetic spectrum. both of this we use everyday and see everyday and we also feel everybody day without it we wouldn 't have many thing we would have to day.
Can you imagine what it would be like if there was no light bulbs? I do not think you can. You would have to light your house with candles and lanterns. You have me, Thomas Edison, to thank for this invention.
In order to begin our research, we first had to prove that our current light bulbs are not the cheapest and not the most efficient choice to light up our buildings. Otherwise, it would have been useless for us to continue. We began our research using government documents, electronic books, and websites that compare incandescent light bulbs to other types of light bulbs.
Preview: Today I will discuss the potential that solar power has to become this country’s main supply of energy and the latest research that can make solar power more efficient and cost effective. I will also present the environmental benefits that come with using solar power over other and more harmful forms of energy.

Light can be classified as a form of electromagnetic radiation, which includes visible light. The ‘light’ commonly referred to in everyday life belongs in this category. The electromagnetic spectrum includes other types of radiation such as gamma rays, radio waves and cosmic rays, all of which possess distinct wavelengths, frequencies and energy levels. These forms of electromagnetic radiation are not visible to the human eye but can be perceived by selected species of animals, such as bees. Figure 1 below displays the electromagnetic spectrum and provides a basic insight into the respective characteristics of different forms of radiation.
VISIBLE LIGHT: This is the only part of electromagnetic spectrum that human beings can see. Visible light is emitted by things like the Sun, light-bulbs or TVs.
The electromagnetic spectrum is a range of different types of radiations, this is energy that travels and spreads out as it goes. This range involves more than just visible light- small portion of the spectrum detected by the human eye- it goes beyond what the human eye cannot see. The two most important characteristics of the spectrum are wavelength and frequency. The electromagnetic spectrum can be divided into three different parts: the theory of visible light, the range of the electromagnetic spectrum, and how it benefits mankind.
